87: Chapter 77: Prepare to Counterattack!
In the room, Professor Wu took out a tal device the size of a button and placed it on the table.
With a gentle tap, the center split open, and an electromagnetic light shield activated, enveloping them both.
He tapped the table, eyeing Li Ming with eyes that conveyed too many emotions, and for a long ti, he didn’t speak.
Li Ming didn’t speak either, his face tily revealing a mix of confusion and befuddlent.
“I never thought it would be here,” Professor Wu spoke his first words with a sense of resignation, “I had thought it didn’t exist.”
Professor Wu thought Li Ming wouldn’t understand, but Li Ming knew it in his heart, along with a new perplexity erging.
Wasn’t the theory of genetic purification brought up by Professor Wu himself?
Was there no other evidence to support it?
Could it just be so wild idea he had upon waking up one day?
“Professor…” Li Ming’s confusion deepened.
“Sit…” He gestured for Li Ming to sit down, and slowly said, “Do you know what my most famous theory is?”
“Genetic purification?” Li Ming ventured uncertainly.
“Exactly,” Professor Wu nodded, “It should be regarded as a hypothesis, more accurately, till that mont before, it was a hypothesis, but now, it is not.”
“Uh…” Li Ming was speechless.
Couldn’t he just talk straight?
Even for a seasoned actor, feigning confusion was troubleso.
“The foundation of the theory of genetic purification is the existence of a Life Form with the potential for genetic purification,” Professor Wu finally explained.
“However, many people have searched the interstellar space for years and haven’t found such a Life Form, thus my theory was also disproved.”
“You an…” Li Ming’s expression cleared up at that mont, “I have this potential?”
“Exactly.” Professor Wu looked at Li Ming with a passionate gaze, “I’ve been searching for many years, nearly in despair, but unexpectedly, I found it after all.”
Li Ming’s expression flickered, then he suddenly stood up, took a deep breath, and said in a deep voice, “Please, teacher, do justice for !”
Professor Wu was montarily stunned, and then he laughed, “Don’t worry, as long as I’m here, no one can touch you.”
He pondered, “You just said, Qin Xiao arrested all the guards assigned to protect the mber of the interstellar oversight committee.”
“Exactly, my uncle said, this affair isn’t as simple, internal investigations of the guards are not done this way.”
Professor Wu chuckled lightly, “Of course it’s not simple.”
“You stumbled upon Star Creation Company’s illicit mining activities, forcing the company to make concessions.”
“Those gluttonous dogs, even if they’re in pain, they’re thinking of tearing off a piece of at.
You are the at thrown out.”
So, you knew everything… Li Ming wasn’t surprised, Professor Wu hadn’t thought of intervening just then, so he had put him off.
Seeing Li Ming’s realization, Professor Wu laughed disbelievingly, “This matter seems simple on the surface but is actually a bit complicated.
I didn’t want to get involved.”
“Star Creation Company wants a scapegoat.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s you, I can easily extricate you alone, but the others…”
Li Ming frowned slightly, hesitantly asking, “Can the others not be saved?”
“Do you want to save them?” Professor Wu counter-asked, “I am not willing to help.
It will bring much trouble.”
“They are all diligent guards, who have shed blood for Blue Star,” Li Ming said solemnly, after all, he ca under the pretense of saving lives, and giving up too easily wouldn’t sit well with Old Wu.
Professor Wu watched him, then suddenly smiled, “Not bad.”
“Actually, that was my intention too,” Professor Wu stood up and said, “Extricating you alone would have far-reaching implications; everyone would know what I am searching for.”
“Suddenly protecting an unknown young man would invite all sorts of speculation and wouldn’t be good for you.”
Indeed… This had been a small test by Old Wu.
“What should we do then?” Li Ming asked.
“I have already said, Star Creation Company only wants a scapegoat.
Just replace the scapegoat with soone else,” Professor Wu explained nonchalantly, “Qin Xiao is a good choice.”
“Replace it with Qin Xiao?” Li Ming pondered thoughtfully.
“Alright, this matter isn’t urgent,” Professor Wu seed not to take the issue to heart and turned to say, “I must find a reasonable excuse to make you my student.”
“It would be best to attend the University of Science and Technology, recomndation letters are easy to fix there, but if it’s through my channels…”
“I have a recomndation letter from the University of Science and Technology…” Li Ming interrupted Professor Wu, who was deep in thought.
“Hmm?” Professor Wu looked up at him, a bit surprised, “Where did you get that from?”
“My father spent our entire fortune buying it.”
“Your father was prescient,” Professor Wu comnded.
He was fully aware of what those interstellar laboratories and advanced interstellar civilizations looked like.
If he knew that a Life Form with the potential for genetic purification had been discovered, he would surely stop at nothing, as this was a first.
Therefore, the best course for Li Ming would be to enter his sight in a justified manner and gain his favor.
Now that there was an entrance recomndation letter, the first step was already completed, although a Level 6 potential was still rather low and gaining his favor was sowhat unreasonable.
But it could still barely pass muster.
“I hope to have a chat with your father when there’s ti,” Professor Wu said next, also suspecting that his father might have had the potential for genetic purification.
“He’s already passed away.”
Professor Wu paused, genuinely surprised, and then solemnly said, “Be at ease, once you’re on Capital Star, it will be your ti to soar to the heavens, not letting down what your father hoped for.”
“I understand,” Li Ming nodded heavily, sowhat hesitant, “There’s one more thing…”
“Speak.”
“My father left behind so trouble.
He was forrly with ‘Owl Dragon,’ and now he’s being purged by people from ‘Ashes,’ and by association, I have beco a target too,” Li Ming gave a brief explanation of their background.
