66: Chapter 66: All Confused, Assassinate Whom?

Who Assassinates?

66: Chapter 66: All Confused, Assassinate Whom?

Who Assassinates?

The roaring sound echoed in the ship’s cabin, causing everyone to be montarily stunned.

The captain’s expression slightly changed, and before he could speak, the voice continued to shout.

“Are you tired of living, wanting to die without dragging along?”

“Assassinating the Interstellar Inspection Team?

What on earth were you thinking?”

Assassinating the Interstellar Inspection Team?

These words slamd into their minds, leaving everyone’s faces showing the dumbfoundedness caused by the overload of information.

Assassinate who?

Who is assassinating?

Us?

Everyone chanically looked at each other, their numb eyes conveying the sa thought—”Did you do it?”

“Black Hawk, what on earth are you trying to do?” This sentence seed to be squeezed out of the throat, one word at a ti.

Black Hawk’s cheeks trembled, and he finally spat out a sentence, “Commander, what exactly is going on?”

“Hm?

It wasn’t you guys?” The other party’s voice beca suspicious, irritated and restless, “This morning, as soon as the Interstellar Inspection Team and the attache from Blue Star arrived at Silver Grey Star, soone secretly attempted assassination, injuring a city guard.”

“A bullet was extracted from his body, tested by the local city guard, uploaded to the city guard system for comparison, activated the backdoor we left in the city guard system, and intercepted related information.”

“It was one of our issued bullets, and currently, the only team active on Silver Grey Star is yours.”

“Commander…” The short mber couldn’t help speaking out but was stopped by Black Hawk’s raised hand.

His eyes were dark, his voice hoarse, as if he sensed sothing, “Commander, what’s the na of the injured city guard?”

“It seems to be Li … Li Ming?” the Commander hesitated slightly, “The data show that he is also the descendant of so targeted individual.”

“Li Ming!?” The group was taken aback and then felt a surge of indignation.

“Self-directed and self-acted!

This is his own doing!”

The short one shouted, “Commander, we didn’t touch him, it was that kid’s own doing!”

“What do you an?” The Commander didn’t quite understand but realized instantly, “He hired the assassin?

Are you sure?”

“The intelligence system assesses him as no threat, do you know what kind of person is considered a no threat?

Even a vagrant by the roadside has a potential threat,” the Commander obviously didn’t believe it.

On one side there were the disjointed words of a few people, and on the other the comprehensive assessnt of their intelligence system.

“Commander, he…” The short one tried to speak again but beca silent when he noticed Black Hawk’s glance, suddenly too scared to talk.

“Commander, what should we do about this?” Black Hawk asked, realizing it was pointless to continue explaining.

The Commander didn’t care about whether they did it or not.

“Our interception of the comparative information, they can’t find out anything, but if it really caused casualties, things would beco serious,” the Commander continued irritably:

“Stay out of trouble over there, don’t do anything, let’s wait until the Interstellar Inspection Team has left.”

“Commander, there’s a discrepancy between the specific information and intelligence on Li Ming, I think it’s necessary to clear that up, ” Black Hawk hesitated for a mont but still spoke.

“I told you not to do anything, don’t you understand?” A roar instantly filled the entire spaceship, “I don’t care who did it, all I want now is for those bastards to leave Silver Grey Star peacefully, understand!?”

“Understood,” Black Hawk’s face was frosty.

The communication ended, and the cabin fell into silent stillness; the assurance they had just monts before had vanished without a trace.

Their faces looked terrible, like they had swallowed a stone-skinned lizard — disgusting and unable to vomit it out, yet it was stuck in their intestines.

“Where did he get that bullet?” Black Hawk suddenly asked, “We have never used a single bullet on this planet.”

“Soone is helping him, several teams were killed because they underestimated the enemy, and their arms were looted,” the short one imdiately added, then complained:

“The higher-ups insist on issuing standardized equipnt; why can’t they give us money to buy our own?

That way, nobody could trace it back.”

“Are you sure the money would be used to buy equipnt?

The markup on the Black Hole Network is too high, operational funds need to be doubled at least,” another person shook his head:

“If soone tries to profit from the difference and doesn’t buy from the Black Hole Network, but gets tracked down, that’s even more trouble.”

“Still, this way is better; at least it’s under the higher-ups’ control, even if soone wants to investigate, they can stop it.”

Black Hawk remained silent, and the sound of conversation gradually quieted down as everyone looked at him.

“Captain, what should we do?”

The short one showed a defiant expression: “Damn it, this kid is too cunning.

I can’t swallow this affront; the Commander is too worried.

What can he do to fight to the bitter end?”

“Find a chance to kill him!”

They were always the ones setting up others; never had they been manipulated like this, as though soone was stepping on their faces.

“Too rash, killing him now doesn’t guarantee we can leave this place,” Black Hawk shook his head and picked up his cigarette pipe again, “This Silver Grey Star appears calm on the surface, but it’s chaotic behind the scenes.

Killing him doesn’t necessarily have to be by our hands.”

Amid the swirling smoke, a pair of sinister eyes faintly appeared.

“A dinner party?” Wang Zhiheng was astonished, looking at his old man, “They were just attacked this morning, and they’re having a dinner party tonight?”

“Dad, please spare , I’m just a small-ti guy.”

Director Wang’s face looked terrible, scolding: “Who is your dad, how many tis have I told you to refer by position during work!”

“Look at you, reckless and unreliable, look at Li Ming.

Now that’s what you call professionalism!”

He was furious, why couldn’t it have been this wretch who rushed forward to catch the bullet?

Li Ming, his arm wrapped in a bandage, sat nearby, looking steadfast and dependable.

This dinner is taking place at the Wine Hotel in Silver City, on the penthouse floor, mainly for Professor Wu and those from Silver Grey Star who got admitted to the Capital’s University of Science and Technology, a total of seven people.”

Silver Grey Star had a small population, and its admissions policy was tilted in its favor, so they managed to get seven spots, four for Silver Grey City, and three for Star Do City.

“Whether it’s Professor Wu or those kids, they’re all treasured,” Wang Ke sternly glared at Wang Zhiheng, “if they lose even a single hair, you’ll answer to .”

Hesitating for a mont, he looked towards Li Ming and asked, “How’s your injury?

If it’s nothing serious then…”

“With such a serious injury, you still want him to go?” Wang Zhiheng couldn’t help but say.

“You know nothing!” Wang Ke raged, frustrated.

Li Ming’s brave act had at least reversed so of the poor impressions.

Those big shots didn’t have such a good mory; they needed to see Li Ming frequently to rember that Silver Grey City still had notable people.

If Li Ming were to rest for a few days, who would care then?

“I’m fine, Chief, I can move,” Li Ming stood up.

Wang Ke nodded in relief and started to arrange the plan.

Night fell, and the Silver City Hotel was locked down from top to bottom, nearby streets were under martial law, and several hovercars arrived, stopping at the entrance.

One by one, figures disembarked, fresh and unripe, so expectant, so nervous, so excited…

Yang Yu was among them.

“Yang Yu…” In front of the hotel, a slender girl waved excitedly, and Yang Yu quickly approached, “Ji Ya.”

Both girls breathed a sigh of relief, having found their companion, and the tension largely dissolved.

“Professor Wu, ah…

I heard at the university, not many people could see him; we’re so lucky,” Ji Ya said while walking, full of longing:

“To be able to enter his lab would be like skyrocketing to the heavens.”

“Look at you, it’s just a dinner,” Yang Yu seed much calr and couldn’t help but laugh.

“Think about it, it’s nothing…

by the way, how much has your gene seed progressed?”

“Only 6%.”

Ji Ya couldn’t help complaining, “I’m only at 3%, I’ve been roasted by fire every day, my skin hurts so badly it turns black, I can’t stand it.”

City guards manned every elevator and floor; many of them recognized Yang Yu.

Yang Yu called each one ‘uncle,’ and soon they reached the top floor.

“Li Ming?” Yang Yu’s eyes lit up at the sight of Li Ming standing guard in the corridor; she wanted to go over and greet him.

But recalling the serious expressions of those ‘uncles’ she had seen on her way up, she stopped, her gaze falling on the bandage on Li Ming’s arm.

Her expression turned worried, her fingertips delicately touching, as if asking.

Li Ming imperceptibly shook his head, indicating it was nothing, and Yang Yu finally felt relieved, turning to see her best friend gazing dreamily at Li Ming.

She couldn’t help but poke her.

“Taro, do you know this handso guy?” Ji Ya whispered sneakily to Yang Yu while glancing at Li Ming.

“Li Ming, you’ve seen him before,” Yang Yu glanced at her.

“Li Ming?” Ji Ya was startled and doubtfully turned her head to look again, then looked once more.

“No way, when did he beco so handso?”

“Haven’t you watched the news?”

“What news?

I only follow rmaid Singer,” Ji Ya looked clueless, then teasingly added, “Not bad, Taro, you’ve been playing a nurturing ga, keeping it so hidden.”

“Get lost,” Yang Yu rolled her eyes.

They reached the door to the room, which opened automatically.

The llow and warm gilded lights filled the room as the young n and won took their seats one by one, their eyes nervously fixed on the main seat.

“Is everything ready?” Professor Wu asked from the adjacent room.

“It’s all set,” a burly man carrying so kind of device muttered, “Professor, do you really think any of these kids et your requirents?”

“Why not?” Professor Wu stood by the window, overlooking the bright lights of Silver Grey City.

“So many civilizations haven’t found it, let alone such a small place,” the burly man responded matter-of-factly.

“Yes, but that’s the marvel of the universe; what you can’t find everywhere might just be quietly flourishing in so inconspicuous place,” Professor Wu sighed.

“It couldn’t possibly flourish in…”

“You talk too much,” Professor Wu turned around slowly.

The burly man imdiately fell silent, not daring to speak further.

Ding—

The elevator opened, and several figures stepped out, the two at the front moving together.

The elevator entrance was narrow, but neither showed any intention of stepping back.

With a clang, Wang Zhiheng bumped into the elevator entrance, while the burly man beside him sneered, looking straight ahead.

He ignored the unfriendly faces of the city guards in the corridor, leading his group forward.

Wang Zhiheng’s face turned ashen, and though he refrained from lashing out, his mouth moved as if cursing.

“Captain Wang, are you okay?” Li Ming asked.

The group was from Blue Star’s security team, overall stronger than them, small in number, responsible only for a few key figures.

“It’s fine, they’re looking down on us,” he spit, but then self-mockingly added, “But what can we do?

This is a small place after all.”

“Let’s go, to the room,” Wang Zhiheng patted Li Ming on the shoulder, and they headed to the room, settling in a corner.
