Chu's Mom prepared a delicious al for the two of them. Chi Yan slurped down a large bowl of noodles and then sat on the sofa, patting his stomach contentedly. "Aunt, your cooking is truly delicious."
Chu's Mom, overhearing this, smiled so broadly that the wrinkles around her eyes beca especially pronounced. "If Little Yan enjoys it, he should eat more next ti."
"Hehe. Thank you, Aunt. Let help you clean up."
"No need, no need. I'll take care of it. You two just arrived, so rest for a bit." Chu's Mom swiftly cleared away the bowls and chopsticks and headed to the kitchen, leaving Chu Yang and Chi Yan to relax in the living room.
Chi Yan looked around and noticed soone was missing. "Chu Luo hasn't co back yet?"
Chu Yang replied, "Mom said he has the day off today, so he should be back soon."
Chi Yan nodded, his eyes darting around. Seizing the mont when no one was around, he suddenly pulled Chu Yang into her room.
Chu Yang: ?
Chi Yan: "I have to leave soon. Let's kiss for a bit."
One kiss was never going to be enough. They shared many, many kisses, and things nearly got out of hand!
Chi Yan buried his face in Chu Yang's neck, gently nibbling. "Rember to miss , rember to call and video chat with ."
"I know, I know." Wasn't it always like this?
"Well, I'm off then. It's getting late. One more kiss."
After dawdling for a while longer, Chi Yan finally straightened his clothes and left Chu Yang's room. Chu Yang tidied herself up and saw him out. "Aunt, I'm heading ho now," Chi Yan called towards the kitchen.
Chu's Mom wiped her hands and ca out. "Wait a mont, I have sothing for you to take back."
"No need, Aunt. I have everything at ho."
"You do need it. You don't have my homade sausages at your place." Saying this, Chu's Mom grabbed a large bag of items and put them in Chi Yan's car. "These are all from the countryside. Don't look down on them."
Chi Yan waved his hands, "Not at all, not at all. Aunt's homade things are especially delicious. I can't get enough of them."
Chu's Mom bead like a flower. "That's good, that's good. Drive safely on your way back."
"Mm-hmm."
After hugging Chu Yang, Chi Yan got into his car. Chu Yang waved goodbye to him.
The car quickly disappeared from view, and Chu Yang returned to her room to tidy up. As she was organizing, she discovered a set of Chi Yan's clothes in her suitcase? What was going on? Had Chi Yan originally planned to stay here?
Chu Yang took a photo and sent it to Chi Yan, asking about it.
However, Chi Yan was driving and couldn't reply imdiately.
A few hours later, Chi Yan finally arrived ho and responded: "I was worried you might miss . If you do, you can sleep hugging my clothes at night."
Chu Yang: ...Who's as perverted as him!
Wait a minute! She had a bunch of clothes at his place. What if he missed her at night? Would he do weird things with her clothes?
Chu Yang covered her eyes. She always felt that Chi Yan was capable of doing such creepy and perverted things. And she could only pretend not to know anything, otherwise, if she acknowledged it, he might beco even more perverted!
By this ti, Chu Luo had returned ho. When he heard that Chi Yan had dropped off his sister, he asked, "Where is he?"
Chu Yang: "Who? Your future brother-in-law? He went back."
Chu Luo muttered, "He's not staying here?"
Chu Yang glanced at him, "What are you talking about? It's almost New Year's, why would he stay? He has his own family too."
Chu Luo said nothing. He felt that Chi Yan had wanted to stay but couldn't, and maybe his sister hadn't agreed!
The days at ho weren't much different from before, except that now that Chu Luo was back, village kids would occasionally co over to play with him.
On the twenty-seventh day of the lunar month, soone in the village was getting married and had invited their family. Early in the morning, Chu's parents went to help out, while Chu Yang and Chu Luo went for lunch at noon.
During the al, Chu Yang and Chu Luo sat together. Their parents were still busy working and would probably eat after everyone else was finished. At their table, besides the siblings, there were other people Chu Yang didn't know.
In the past, Chu Yang wouldn't have bothered to get to know them. Now, she didn't have the ti or opportunity, as she rarely ca ho, and when she did, she mostly helped around the house rather than socializing in the village.
But even if she didn't know them, others knew her. After all, who didn't know that the Chu family had a university student, and from A University no less?
"You two must be the Chu siblings? You both look so good," a woman sitting across from them said, looking at Chu Yang.
Chu Yang politely nodded, "Yes, hello, sister."
"Hahaha." The woman was so pleased to be called "sister" that she laughed, covering her mouth. "As expected of a university student, so polite. I'm not a sister though, I'm older than your mother. You can call Auntie."
"Hello, Auntie."
"Ah! I live at the end of the village, at your Uncle Tie's house. You might not rember . You're studying at A University, right? What year are you in?"
"Third year."
"Already in third year? So in about a year, you'll be looking for work? But it's easy for university students to find jobs. I can see you're capable, you'll definitely earn over ten thousand a month." Most villagers thought this way: university graduates were valuable, could get decent jobs right after graduation, and earn a lot of money.
Chu Yang just smiled without saying anything. Not every university graduate earned over ten thousand right out of school; many might only earn three thousand a month. But she didn't bother explaining this, as people probably wouldn't believe her anyway.
The woman then turned her gaze to Chu Luo, "Little Luo is in high school now, right? Have you thought about which university you want to attend? I heard your grades are good. Will you go to A University like your sister?"
Chu Luo glanced at Chu Yang, then replied, "It's not certain yet. It depends on my college entrance exam results."
"That's true. Well, work hard then."
"I will, I will."
Soon, the food was served, and everyone started eating. The attention and conversation shifted away from the two siblings, much to their relief. It was quite awkward being surrounded by so many unfamiliar faces.
After the al, they went to see the bride. She was beautiful, wearing a red cheongsam and smiling happily.
They had another al in the evening, after which Chu Luo and Chu Yang headed ho first. Their parents stayed behind to help out a bit more before returning ho later.
That night, as they were going to bed, Chu's Mom nudged Chu's Dad, "How much money have we saved up?"
Chu's Dad shook his head, "How would I know? Aren't you the one who deposits the money?"
Chu's Mom: "I've forgotten how much money we have." In any case, they would save whatever they earned, with the rest going towards their child's tuition and living expenses.
Chu's Mom sighed, "Today, Guang's Mother told that she knows Chu Yang is in her third year of university, which ans she'll be working in just over a year. She asked if we've prepared money for her house. Property prices in Jing City are high, so we'd need to pay at least a down paynt. Otherwise, buying in downtown Jiazhou City would be fine too, depending on where Chu Yang ends up working. So I wanted to check how much we've saved, to see if we can pay a down paynt for Chu Yang or sothing like that."
Chu's Dad felt the pressure too. Ti had passed so quickly, and their child had grown up.
