Chapter 30: Inside the dungeon

"Are you kids ready?" The Dean turned and asked with a smile upon seeing Ivan and the others approach the dungeon gate.

"Yes, we’re ready." Ivan nodded. He already guessed that this group of seniors were teachers as well so he wasn’t too curious about them anymore.

"Good, you can go in whenever you want. She’ll be following your group and will be responsible for recording your scores. Don’t worry, she won’t interfere with your assessnt." The Dean said softly while pointing at an older lady by the side.

The group of students turned to look at this person. A woman in a long, brown robe with long, black hair that fell like a waterfall behind her back, she appeared to be in her late forties, but Ivan felt that she was much older than that.

The woman smiled back at Ivan and the rest, displaying a set of clean white teeth.

"Hello kids, you can call

Mrs Avalor. Nice to et you."

Ivan, Lena, and the others bowed their heads and greeted her back.

"Let’s not waste any more ti, you kids have already spent too long outside while others have already started their assessnt." Mrs Avalor gestured towards the huge blue dungeon gate in front of them.

Ivan nodded and stepped towards the dungeon gate, the others behind him. Mrs Avalor nodded at the Dean and the others before following behind the students.

This wasn’t Ivan’s first ti entering a dungeon so he was very calm as he approached the blue gate. But it was the first ti for the others. Lena had a look of excitent and anticipation as she walked next to Ivan.

Lucas and Juliet had clear nervousness on their faces as they neared the dungeon gate. As for Aaron, he was also nervous but tried to hide it under a forced calm expression which made him look really funny.

The feeling of walking through a gate wasn’t what the students had expected. It felt like walking through a wall of frozen liquid, it was cold but their uniforms didn’t get wet.

It was really strange and difficult to explain.

The six of them passed through the dungeon gate and finally arrived on the other side. The first thing that hit Ivan and his group was the strong scent of nature. The scent of different flowers dancing in the wind, accompanied by an earthly scent.

It imdiately made Ivan feel nostalgic.

Their eyes gazed at the view in front of them. It looked like they had spawned at a random spot inside a forest as huge trees surrounded them, their thick branches partially blocking the sunlight.

They were currently in a clearing with the dungeon gate behind them, there was no one here.

Well, it was to be expected since the other students had long moved out.

"Alright, you kids can start your assessnt. I’ll watch without distracting you, and will let you know when you’re about to leave the first region."

At this mont, Mrs Avalor said with a smile. Right after saying this, a gust of wind began to blow around her, causing their uniforms to flutter.

The next second, she disappeared without a trace.

"A wind mage!" Lucas exclaid, clearly surprised. He wasn’t the only one, Ivan and the rest were also stunned by Mrs Avalor suddenly disappearing.

They looked around but couldn’t find a trace of Mrs Avalor.

’So that’s what she ant,’ Ivan thought, realising that the teacher wasn’t going to move with the students and instead watch from a safe distance.

He felt that this was actually good. Although they would know that they were being watched, it was different from having an additional mber in a party who was just following around without doing anything.

"What do we do now?" Juliet asked softly.

Upon hearing her question, Lena turned to look at Ivan, a smile on her face. Following her action, Lucas and the rest also turned to look at him.

After all, he was the leader of their squad.

Ivan instantly understood why they were looking at him. He didn’t make any remarks and turned to face Lucas before asking the white-haired kid to summon his Twingo.

Lucas nodded as mana began to rise from his body and form a large ball of mana above his head. After five seconds of accumulating, the mana above Lucas exploded like a balloon and a small bird appeared.

Everyone imdiately looked at the bird that had appeared. The bird was very small, almost palm-sized. Except for its white wings, the rest of its body was pitch black. Another interesting feature of the bird was its long tail, which was almost twice the length of its body.

After appearing, the Twingo flew around Lucas without making a sound. Lena and the others wouldn’t have noticed it if they weren’t already looking at it. It landed on Lucas’ head after so ti and made itself comfortable before looking at the strangers in front of it.

"Uuuu, so cute! Can I touch it?" Lena voiced out after seeing how the Twingo was observing them with its small head tilted to the side. The girl was using everything in her to stop herself from rushing over and grabbing the bird.

"Everyone, et White." Lucas introduced his Twingo before smiling awkwardly at Lena "Sorry, it doesn’t like others touching him."

Lena had a disappointed expression but didn’t push it. anwhile, Juliet blinked at Lucas after listening to him introduce his Twingo.

"So this is what a Twingo looks like, did you na it white because it has white wings?" She asked.

"Then your na should be white too, you have white hair," Aaron added.

Lucas’s face froze for a mont before letting out a few embarrassed coughs. He wasn’t good at naming things and thought White was a cool na, after all, it matched his Twingo’s white wings.

Luckily, Ivan stepped in at this mont and saved Lucas from the awkwardness.

"Ask your Twingo to take a look around, we’ll pick a direction after that." He said.

"Okay," Lucas replied. The next second, white flapped its small wings and shot into the air without a sound, quickly disappearing.

"So fast!" Aaron exclaid.

Lena and Juliet also had looks of astonishnt on their faces, not expecting the small bird to be so fast.

anwhile, Ivan and Lucas stood in silence. Lucas was currently sharing White’s view, allowing him to see what his Twingo was seeing. It left the boy slightly dazed, staring at a large forest from above.

As for Ivan, he was waiting for Lucas’s feedback. He wanted to ask the boy to connect him to the Twingo’s pov but stopped himself. Lucas currently didn’t know that he could do that and he also didn’t have enough mana to link others.

So he had no choice but to wait for Lucas to tell them what he saw. If possible, Ivan wanted to avoid crossing other students even though there wasn’t any need to do so.

After fifteen seconds, white silently appeared and sat on Lucas’s head again.

It was done scouting!

Ivan and the others imdiately looked at Lucas, waiting for his report.

The first thing that Lucas said as he stared at Ivan and the others was.

"This place is huge!"

He started to report what he had seen while sharing White’s view. Apparently, they were in a large forest that stretched for probably hundreds or even thousands of kilotres!

Despite White’s incredible flying speed, it wasn’t able to see the end of the forest. Aside from that, Lucas reported that he had spotted several squads of students and so of them weren’t too far from their current location.

He had also seen quite a large number of orc villages. The orcs build their villages in large clearings surrounded by trees, it was similar to this image where the dungeon gate was located so it was hard to miss them when looking from above.

"How many orc villages did you see?" Ivan asked.

"Roughly around...seventy? I didn’t count but it should be around there." Lucas replied.

Aaron and the two girls were shocked. So many orc villages and that wasn’t the whole place yet, just how many orcs were inside this dungeon?

"Hmm, good job." Ivan nodded and said, his gaze fixed on White that was on Lucas’s head.

He was talking to the bird.

Lucas’s expression froze for a mont before a helpless smile ford on his face, the others imdiately noticed this.

"What, is there a problem?" Lena asked.

Before Lucas could reply, White flew from on top of his head and went to sit on Ivan’s head.

Everyone "..."

"He said he likes you," Lucas said, not upset that his Twingo left him for soone else.

Ivan "..."

Was it because he complinted the bird?

"Eh, what about ?!" Lena asked while pointing at her face. She was the one who wanted to touch the bird the most, but how could it suddenly pick Ivan instead of her?

Lucas only smiled back in response. How was he supposed to tell Lena that White didn’t like green hair?
