39: Chapter 39: Mistakenly Entered Into a Fire Scene?

_1 39: Chapter 39: Mistakenly Entered Into a Fire Scene?

_1 Mu You hadn’t expected that after a day and a night, this werewolf would dare to linger near the cri scene.

What was his aim?

Did he anticipate that players would co to investigate and therefore set up a stakeout in advance?

That doesn’t make sense though, if he was staking out, why would he deliberately hide on the rooftop?

No one could have located this spot, had Mu You not possessed the Pumpkin Lantern.

Plus, the look of surprise on the werewolf’s face earlier didn’t seem feigned, which ans, it hadn’t expected anyone to appear here either.

So the question is, what on earth was this werewolf doing hiding here?

And, what’s the story behind its injuries?

In a brief mont, a flurry of questions crossed his mind.

However, Mu You had absolutely no ti to think, as he was still targeted by the Chain Claws, catapulting rapidly towards the werewolf.

The werewolf ahead was expressionless.

Its left hand brandishing the Chain Claws, right hand holding a butcher’s cleaver, was soaked in blood.

Like a butcher roaming through a sea of corpses and rivers of blood, relentlessly seeking fresh flesh with his hook and cleaver, embodying brutality and death.

An unfortunate situation, Mu You’s right arm was controlled by the Chain Claws, unable to exert any force.

He was just a tad away from reaching the pocket watch in his pocket, but this tiny bit seed like an insurmountable chasm, impossible to cross!

In Mu You’s gaze filled with despair, he was rapidly moving closer to the werewolf.

The butcher’s cleaver in the werewolf’s hand was already in motion, headed straight for him…

“Swoosh!”

Just when Mu You was expecting certain death, the hand of the werewolf that was brandishing the cleaver, suddenly stopped as if sensing sothing, it hastily rolled backwards.

And at the exact mont it rolled away, a blazing column of fla ‘whooshed’ and rose, engulfing the spot where it had just been standing.

Was this…magic?

Slightly stunned, Mu You hadn’t expected such a dramatic turn of events when death was near.

With no ti to give further thoughts, he took advantage of the werewolf’s retreat, grimly yanked out the flesh hook from his right arm amidst a spray of blood and pain, and plunged his hand into his pocket, forcefully pressing the button on the pocket watch.

Ti reversed.

His injuries, the splatter of blood and flesh, the surroundings, everything swiftly rewound.

When he opened his eyes, he was back five seconds earlier.

Mu You returned to the edge of the rooftop, on the path following the footprints, less than five ters from the corner in front.

He hastily stopped in his tracks, breaking out in a cold sweat.

Of course, Mu You didn’t dare to continue forward, but tried his best to steady his breathing, and began to quietly retreat.

Only when he had moved dozens of ters away to the shadows on the other side of the rooftop did he stop.

“I should be safe for now at this distance…”

Mu You let out a sigh of relief, only then realizing that his back had been thoroughly soaked by cold sweat.

No wonder, he had just realistically had a close brush with death, it also made him realize his own carelessness.

Mu You had to admit, since becoming a player, things had been going smoothly, and he possessed the Ti Pocket Watch, an extraordinary tool, which inevitably led to so complacency.

Today’s events had left him with a morable lesson: In the future, when undertaking risky tasks, he should keep the Ti Pocket Watch readily in hand!

“So, what exactly is happening now?”

Shaking his head, Mu You snapped back to reality, anxiously starting to assess the current situation.

The column of fire from earlier was obviously a spell cast by soone, aid directly at incinerating the werewolf, forcing it to stop its attack and withdraw.

That was what saved Mu You’s life!

——This ans there is another player hidden sowhere on this rooftop right now!

Who could it be?

The little girl from the ga?

Mu You wasn’t certain, but the werewolf’s burn wounds were likely caused by this player.

Accordingly, it seed both players had already had a fight on the roof just now, and were perhaps taking a short break, wary of each other.

anwhile, Mu You entered the scene unsuspectingly…

So, he was unintentionally caught in the crossfire of these two players!

Who the hell does he complain to?

After figuring this out, Mu You didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

But that might not be so bad!

He had already figured out the situation and the whereabouts of the werewolf, but neither the werewolf nor the other player were aware of his presence yet!

Once the two of them start fighting again, he might be able to secretly assist the other player in subduing the werewolf; or, wait until both parties are critically injured before stepping in to finish them off; worst case scenario, he could safely leave the battlefield while they are too busy fighting to notice him…

In short, the ball’s in his court!

Having understood this, Mu You decided to quietly lie low, patiently waiting for the right opportunity.

The rooftop had completely quieted down, an eerie silence occasionally disrupted by the night breeze, reminding them that ti was still passing.

After waiting for almost ten minutes like this, finally, the fight broke out!

The werewolf was the first to strike!

The werewolf suddenly charged from around a corner, rushing towards a pile of discarded wooden furniture.

He jumped up, swung his giant sword, and brought it down forcefully.

“Bang!”

With a massive crash, several planks were instantly shattered, and wood chips flew everywhere.

A small figure suddenly leaped out from behind the wooden cupboard, did a roll on the ground, and ran off without a mont’s hesitation.

Mu You had a clear view from the other side, and this figure that appeared was actually a little girl!

This little girl looked about ten years old, donned a pointed wizard hat, a large wizard robe, fashioned like a mage.

However, she moved swiftly like a nimble thief, darting amongst obstacles on the ground, quickly extending the distance between her and the werewolf.

“This…

must be her skin…” Mu You’s face appeared puzzled for a mont.

After players load a skin, their appearance and size changes to match that of the skin.

This person clearly loaded the in-ga ‘Wizard’s Apprentice’ skin which transford her into a little girl.

As for her real age?

Is it a male or female?

Those are still uncertain.

However, since this little girl is still alive, who was the one killed down below?

Did the werewolf mistake the identity of the little girl and accidentally slash an ordinary person?

Mu You furrowed his brow in thought before giving up.

Put that question aside for now and focus on the fight!

Far off on the rooftop, the werewolf and the little girl were caught in a ga of chase.

Mu You estimated the little girl’s agility attributes must be quite high.

By making judicious use of various obstacles, she had the werewolf spinning in circles.

Her agility was truly incredible.

However, this only highlighted her lack of prowess in close combat.

Under the werewolf’s pursuit, she could only use her size and speed to her advantage.

Mu You noticed that the little girl tried to extract her magic wand from her robe a few tis, but the werewolf interrupted her.

The werewolf knew full well how formidable the little girl’s magic was, and had no intention of giving her a chance to cast spells.

After chase and slash, the little girl was rapidly losing energy and was becoming more and more weary.

She had several close calls, barely evading the werewolf’s blade each ti.

“Still running?

Hehe, you think you can escape after stealing from the organization?” the werewolf laughed coldly and taunted her while pursuing.

“Hmph!”

In response, the little girl only returned a cold grunt, saying nothing and continued running.

Listening to their exchange from distance, Mu You was sowhat surprised.

From the sound of it, those two knew each other, and they were even part of the sa ‘organization’?!
