Chapter 684: Chapter 684 Informant
“Can you take to one of those 2137s, or maybe both?” Chen Ke asked urgently.
He knew things weren’t so simple. Xu Jing and Lin Yaying had both been hiding sothing from him, but at least they hadn’t lied—they indeed ca from the year 2137. However, for so reason, their understanding and explanations of ti were hugely skewed, and it seed like they were completely unaware of each other’s existence.
If he could go to one of the 2137s, perhaps, many mysteries would be solved.
The creature shook its head and lay back down, sliding its fingers through the sand on the ground.
“Hey, hey… If you could take there, maybe I could find another way to solve the problems in the real world,” Chen Ke said.
The creature still shook its head, and by its expression, it seed to have no hope for Chen Ke.
Chen Ke looked at it and fell silent for a few seconds.
“You’re such a wuss! What the hell are you even doing! You can’t do this, you’re scared to do that, what kind of god are you?! Screw it, just go play in the sand!” Chen Ke cursed angrily.
He walked a few steps toward the apartnt, then turned back to look at the creature, who was still playing with the sand.
He sighed deeply and turned to enter the building. Since he couldn’t get anything out of the creature, Chen Ke decided to go back to Sunrise and continue to look for Sleery. As for the year 2137… he would figure out a way to get Xu Jing to take him there next ti they t.
Chen Ke opened the door and ca out from a convenience store in Sunrise. Just as the glass door closed behind him, he suddenly felt sothing strange.
He turned around, and there was the woman in the white kimono right behind him.
“What exactly do you want?” Chen Ke stepped back but didn’t think to attack her because ever since the beginning, Qian Chunye hadn’t seed to want to harm him, and to him, she wasn’t part of the Clan.
There was nothing, no entry, no human silhouette, just like sothing that could be seen but didn’t exist.
Suddenly, purple circles of light appeared under Chen Ke and the woman’s feet. The next second, dozens of iron rods shot up from the ground and quickly enclosed them separately.
The iron rods grew up to their heads and tangled together, forming an iron cage.
“Chen Ke, you really do have a way with won, even a specter can be chard by you.”
Chen Ke heard a familiar voice; he turned around and saw Sleery with another man who looked very much like himself standing on the street not far away.
“Sleery?! What are you doing?”
He had searched through many, she appeared on her own, but in this situation, Chen Ke couldn’t get near her.
“I’m only trying to get what I want,” Sleery said. She radiated a faint purple glow, waved her hand, and the Magic Iron Cage holding Qian Chunye rose from the ground and flew toward her.
“You can still stop now, or I will severely punish you!” Chen Ke said.
“Save those sweet nothings for your muscle woman! I don’t need you anymore!” Sleery snorted.
As the cage floated mid-air, she looped her arm with the man’s and a Magic Door appeared behind them.
“Stop! What do you think I ca to Sunrise for?! Co back with .” Chen Ke demanded angrily.
Sleery hesitated for a mont, but still snorted and walked toward the Magic Door with the cage and the man.
“You don’t need to do this,” Chen Ke urged.
Sleery glanced at Chen Ke and asked, “Chen Ke, do you play with models?”
“Huh?” Chen Ke was taken aback.
Sleery waved her hand, and a purple magic halo flew into the convenience store before she left through the Magic Door with the man.
The iron cage binding Chen Ke instantly turned into purple mist, dissipating in the air. He looked at the empty street, having finally run into Sleery, only to let her get away. The Illusion Creation Witch was probably the most difficult type among the witches.
Just as he was about to leave, the convenience store suddenly collapsed. A huge white robotic arm reached out from the doorway, grasping him and pressing its thumb into his upper abdon, nearly bursting his stomach.
As the convenience store fell, a robot more than ten ters tall stood up, holding Chen Ke in one hand and a black gun in the other, its yellow V-shaped antenna on its head glittering in the moonlight.
“Damn it…” Chen Ke cursed, donning his ascending armor to resist the grip of the robot’s hand. Then, he grabbed a Spiritual Energy Crystal Gun and threw it at the robot’s upper arm, detaching its right hand with a single shot.
Chen Ke fell to the ground, only to see that the robot’s severed right arm did not drop chanical parts; instead, it was made of plastic shells and fasteners, and the burned area turned black, emitting a nasty burnt plastic odor.
“Gundam…” Chen Ke recognized it as a Sunrise model toy, altered by Sleery’s magic to the sa size as in the animation. However, for so reason, it hadn’t turned into tal, but into a life-sized plastic version.
Although it was made of plastic, its gun probably still worked. Chen Ke didn’t want it to pull the trigger, so he fired another Spiritual Energy Crystal Gun at its water bottle-like head, blowing off the plastic parts with a sizzling sound. The robot staggered backward a few steps.
In the blink of an eye, the white robot lifted its gun with the left hand and fired blindly. An orange beam hit less than six ters from Chen Ke, exploding into a burst that sent him flying, landing on an empty Administration Bureau vehicle and bouncing off into the nearby green belt.
At that mont, reinforcents from the Administration Bureau and the Self-Defense Forces arrived. A few blue SUVs and troop transport vehicles charged towards the white robot.
Chen Ke lay in the green belt, deactivated his armor, and played dead while the vehicles passed by. After they were gone, he slowly got up and ran away.
“Oh! Just great!!!”
The Self-Defense Forces mbers got out of their vehicles, seemingly thrilled and excited despite the imnse robot posing a threat. With that, Chen Ke left the matter to them and discreetly slipped away.
Half an hour after leaving Shenshi Town, Chen Ke was sowhat lost. He didn’t have Shen Yun’s number on his phone, and the phone Shen Yun had given him was disassembled. His only option was to contact Li Moyang.
Chen Ke dialed Li Moyang’s number in a secluded spot, and after a few seconds, the call was answered.
“Chen Ke? Calling so late? Did you find Sleery?” Li Moyang sounded tired.
“It’s a long story. How are things in Opportunity City? Has that muscle witch co looking for you?” Chen Ke asked.
“No, they haven’t made a peep, but I have bad news for you. Olivia, it seems, took a flight to Sunrise. My informant told she booked a flight yesterday, so she might already be there,” said Li Moyang.
“What??? What’s she doing in Sunrise? Looking for ?” Chen Ke asked.
“I don’t think so; who knows what she’s up to. Maybe the company has other business for her. I don’t know. Just stay safe and try not to make too much noise,” Li Moyang advised.
“I… um, yeah, I understand… I’ve been laying low,” Chen Ke said, touching his forehead.
“Everything going smoothly at your end?” Li Moyang asked.
“I got separated from that girl, Shen Yun,” Chen Ke replied.
“…” Li Moyang didn’t respond.
“I can’t contact her; can you try to reach her for ? I’m lost in the streets of Sunrise,” Chen Ke added.
“…” Li Moyang still didn’t respond.
“I know this sounds crazy, but trust , there’s a situation here… It’s not sothing I stirred up; it’s complicated…” Chen Ke explained.
“That’s not right… sothing’s off… What did you call Shen Yun? A young girl?” Li Moyang finally spoke.
“Yeah, a pretty cute girl, why? Isn’t that your type?” Chen Ke asked.
“No, no… no… no… Ms. Shen is a very calm and mature female agent, around thirty-sothing, and has absolutely no interest in ani. How could you… perhaps…” Li Moyang said.
