Chapter 675: Chapter 675: Qian Chunye

Ignoring the gazes of the people around them, Chen Ke and Shen Yun entered the subway station under the lead of an Administration Bureau mber.

As they descended the stairs, the orange warning lights flickered intermittently, casting an eerie glow. Both sides of the corridor were lined with busy mbers of the Administration Bureau donned in strange suits, giving off a tense atmosphere.

Shinjuku’s subway station resembled an underground labyrinth. Just monts ago, the subway had co to a complete stop, and tens of thousands of people had been accommodated within the station, forbidden from surfacing. Inside the tunnel, green and blue indicator lights stretched along the tracks into the darkness. Chen Ke noticed small devices on the walls every few ters, resembling air humidifiers, which he guessed were used to create barriers.

The ticket gate had been switched to free mode, allowing unobstructed access. People continuously entered through the passage. Those who had been cursing and protesting on the streets above were now quietly flowing in, no longer loud and disruptive.

They lined up along the wall, clearing a path for others. So began calling to report their safety, while others looked for their relatives. Despite the crowded scene, there was an eerie silence, portraying an orderly chaos.

Chen Ke and Shen Yun made their way to the innermost part of the platform. Being among the first to arrive, they managed to find seats. He asked Shen Yun to sit down and then checked the wound on her thigh,

“The wound isn’t serious, it has already scabbed over, but it will leave an unsightly scar. You won’t be able to wear silk stockings anymore,” Chen Ke said.

“Ah, my flashy legs,” Shen Yun’s face turned into a wry expression.

“At least you’re not dead. Think about Bob,” Chen Ke said.

“Yeah, if it weren’t for Mr. Chen, I’d be sprawled out dead by now,” Shen Yun sighed.

“You girl… where do you learn all these strange phrases?” Chen Ke said.

“I thought it was a simple task. I didn’t expect it to turn out like this,” Shen Yun said.

“One can’t always be lucky; besides, I’ve never been lucky,” Chen Ke replied.

“Let give Tong Lang a call and see how things are on his end,” Shen Yun said as she pulled out her smartphone. The screen was cracked, but fortunately, there was a signal, and it was still usable.

Chen Ke stood up, letting Shen Yun handle her call. He discreetly used his Spiritual Vision and his left eye to scan the surroundings. The Administration Bureau had made proper arrangents; the area was indeed secure. Both inside and outside were crowded, and the barrier field was functioning well. Any shadows of the monsters vanished as they approached the field’s periter.

“Everyone, please do not panic. The Administration Bureau has the situation under control, and the crisis will be resolved shortly. Please walk softly in the subway station shelter. The self-defense forces will provide necessary supplies. If your relatives are not with you, you can register here; the Administration Bureau will assist in locating them…”

A female self-defense force mber spoke through a gaphone at the stairway entrance, calming the public’s emotions. A fully ard self-defense force entered from the stairway, their weapons being riot guns, indicating they were ant more for maintaining underground order than for engaging monsters.

At that mont, the lights in the subway station flickered a few tis, making the residents look up.

“Don’t panic; there might be so overload in the power system,” the female self-defense force mber reassured through the gaphone.

“Hello? Hello?” Shen Yun sat in a corner, her voice slightly louder.

“What’s wrong? Is the signal bad?” Chen Ke asked.

“Yes. It shows full bars, and the call connects, but the voice cuts in and out,” Shen Yun replied.

“It’s like that inside the subway,” Chen Ke said.

“Tong Lang? Can you hear clearly? Tong Lang?” Shen Yun continued her struggle to communicate.

Just then, with a buzz, all the lights in the subway station went out.

“What’s going on? Did we trip a breaker?” soone said in the darkness.

“Everyone, do not panic… we’ll restore the power shortly,” the voice of the female self-defense force mber ca through the gaphone.

Administration Bureau mbers activated the lights on their suits, and beams of white light from different angles brightened the platform area. Beholding the sight of the fully ard mbers and the self-defense force unit wielding riot guns, the panicked emotions among the crowd were suppressed.

“Everyone, don’t be afraid. This place is very safe, and the barrier equipnt will not be affected by the power outage,” shouted the captain of the Administration Bureau team.

Chen Ke slowly squatted on the ground but the surrounding atmosphere still made him uneasy, it felt too much like Tangnai Garden.

Suddenly, darkness enveloped the area, a spontaneous blackness spread across the platform, severing the path of those dozen beams of light.

“What’s going on? Why my light…” the mbers of the Administration Bureau began to wonder as red lights blinked on the detectors on their shoulders.

“Not good…” the captain was the first to sense sothing abnormal, and he raised his rifle, but the words he said next were unclear.

The crowd around them beca noisy, but this darkness not only blocked out the light, it also severed sound, leaving them in a state of blindness and deafness.

“Shen Yun?” Chen Ke, with his Spiritual Vision active, could still see the outlines of people around him. His left eye and left ear were unaffected by the darkness, but he only had half of his senses.

“Mr. Chen? Where are you…?” Shen Yun reached out her hands everywhere trying to grasp sothing.

Chen Ke grabbed Shen Yun’s hand and held her in his arms, his right hand drawing a large-caliber automatic rifle.

“Just like in Tangnai Garden,” Chen Ke whispered, but Shen Yun couldn’t hear him; the situation was even worse this ti.

Chen Ke covered Shen Yun’s mouth to keep her from speaking. Through the view from his left eye, he saw that both the Administration Bureau and the Self-Defense Force personnel were fumbling around, tripped up by residents on the ground, and so even fell off the platform and onto the tracks.

Suddenly, the cry of an infant pierced the air.

“Whaaaa… whaaaa… whaaa…”

The sound lingered in their ears, as though an infant was floating around in the room.

“Damn… could it be ‘it’, showing up now?” Chen Ke muttered to himself amidst the pitch-black darkness, with only the Administration Bureau team’s flashlights visible, unaware of the situation outside.

anwhile, along with the infant’s crying, that eerily chilling female voice began singing a nursery rhy again. Her voice was quite lovely, but for so reason, it gave one the chills. Chen Ke’s heart would have definitely pounded if he had been conscious of it.

The outlines of people around him started to vanish one by one; as the nursery rhy resonated, many were ntally shattered, with a Self-Defense Force mber’s ntality collapsing as he opened fire indiscriminately.

Chen Ke pressed Shen Yun to the ground, covering her ears, trying to protect her from being hit by rubber bullets, but he didn’t know if covering her ears could block out the sound of the nursery rhy.

People around them went mad one by one, either dying of fright or turning into lunatics, and the scene descended into chaos.

Chen Ke could finally understand the nursery rhy this ti.

“When will the cherry blossoms bloom?

When will they bloom in the small village in the mountains?

When will the cherry blossoms emit their fragrance?

When a young child is born…

When will the cherry blossoms dance?

When a young child falls asleep…

When will the cherry blossoms wither?

When a young child ascends to heaven…”

The song was mournful, but carried a tinge of sorrow, constantly repeating with a crying tone, as if a mother was bidding farewell to her deceased infant.

In the thick darkness, through Chen Ke’s left eye, he saw a woman in a white kimono, with long hair trailing behind, standing at the end of the platform. She was so white amidst the darkness, like the snowy petals of cherry blossoms, incredibly conspicuous.
