Chen Ke had wanted to ask more, but when he turned around, the white behemoth had vanished without a trace; it was uncertain if it had ever existed. Nonetheless, Chen Ke’s left eye and left ear had indeed changed, possessing sensory abilities beyond that of ordinary people.

Black silhouettes floated as if skimming the floor lightly on the surface of the water, each of them sporting a particle-like umbilical cord that penetrated the ceiling and extended towards the sky.

Chen Ke also saw people falling outside the window, each tethered by a black particle-like umbilical cord, with countless cords all linked to another Earth in the sky.

Was this the connection between life and death? But from the corner of his eyes, the word "Clan" kept appearing; it seed everything was the Clan, and Chen Ke could no longer tell if it was the black shadows or the other Earth that was truly the Clan.

Perhaps both could be.

Shen Yun’s panting attracted a small portion of the black shadows. Their heads shook rapidly, but their bodies moved languidly, drifting towards where Chen Ke was located, accompanied by euphoric laughter, like a celebration of the ntally insane.

If it were an ordinary person, they probably would have been scared to death already.

A faint trace erged on the floor where the black shadow passed, four black shadows converging towards Chen Ke. It seed they had no vision—perhaps because of the boundary between the living and the dead; neither could see the other?

The four traces crept closer to Chen Ke, one of them sliding over the pool of urine Shen Yun had left on the floor. The pale yellow urine crackled and began to evaporate without any detectable heat, a peculiar phenonon indeed.

Chen Ke had Shen Yun lie on his lap, his left arm cradling her back and his right hand covering her mouth and nose. Seeing the marks slowly heading their way, he quickly embraced Shen Yun’s legs and gently moved her away from the path of the floating shadows.

The four black shadows slowly drifted past Chen Ke, through the window, and flew upwards. Bob’s situation was unknown at this mont.

Shen Yun blinked, her face flushed with a mix of embarrassnt and fear, unable to speak. She dared not look at Chen Ke—after all, losing one’s composure in front of soone else was inappropriate, even under these circumstances.

Chen Ke didn’t seem to mind much; he gently lifted Shen Yun and reached over to the desk beside them to pick up a potted plant which he then threw towards the office’s glass door.

"Bang!"

A loud sound halted the black shadows’ singing and frolicking; they eagerly rushed towards the office direction.

Trying to go downstairs was pointless; the street was filled with bodies smashed to a pulp, and the black shadows were undoubtedly more nurous than in this building, as evidenced by countless black umbilical cords extending towards the sky, making the street the most densely populated area with black shadows.

The floor-to-ceiling window suddenly vibrated; a man outside was shouting for help. Chen Ke looked and surprisingly, it was Bob, floating mid-air while seven or eight black shadows tugged at him; he too saw Chen Ke through the window.

"Mr. Chen!!! Save !! I don’t know what’s entangled !! Ahhhhh!! Sothing wants to enter my brain!" While Bob shouted, he pounded the glass, his body rotating in the air.

Chen Ke clearly saw a black shadow burrowing into Bob’s body, attempting to seize his flesh. Bob’s orifices oozed black blood, his pupils turned white, which was frightfully alarming.

He quickly covered Shen Yun’s eyes; the poor girl could no longer withstand the shock. It was ti to leave this place.

In his hand appeared a soul, and with a thought, he crushed it with a snap.

"Open the door..."

"Open..."

"Gate."

"Where is the gate?"

"Damn it."

Chen Ke looked around, but there was no sign of a gate whatsoever. The countdown tir in the corner of his eye was refilled and had even added a maximum of 50 hours. He now had a limit of 350 hours.

"It doesn’t make sense... Where’s the gate..." Chen Ke took out another soul and observed it carefully, only to find that the option "Use soul to open Teleportation Gate" had turned gray.

This was new!

This place had nullified Chen Ke’s ability to open gates.

"How do I get back..." Chen Ke was stunned, feeling that he had lost control of the situation. He looked out the window, saw Bob drifting farther away, and now he seed to have flown across to the next block. Judging by his body movents, Bob was probably dead already.

This was bad... In this damn place, shrouded with dark shadows, how could he get back?

Chen Ke picked up Shen Yun. Even though he didn’t know what to do, staying here was not a good option. He decided to leave the building first and head to an area with fewer dark shadows.

Shen Yun didn’t speak. She curled up in Chen Ke’s arms, one of her shoes had fallen off, and the wound on her thigh was still bleeding. Chen Ke couldn’t worry about that right now; he quietly moved towards the fire escape.

Bob had pounded on the window earlier, drawing all the dark shadows to the entrance, so there were fewer of them in the office now. Chen Ke gently pushed open the fire door and then slipped through quickly with Shen Yun, running down the stairs.

The sound of hysterical, morbid laughter echoed in his ears. With his left eye, he could see countless threads crossing through the floor and ceiling, connecting to the sky. As long as he didn’t touch them, they were temporarily safe.

These things weren’t souls, but entities from a dinsion beyond his own. And that dinsion might not be very pleasant, or else they wouldn’t want to invade Bob’s body.

No matter whether Chen Ke saw another Earth in the sky or another shadow, the word "Clan" in the corner of his eye never disappeared again, which was quite unusual.

Chen Ke ran down fifty floors in one breath and arrived at the lobby, which had more shadows, but as long as he moved quietly, he could sneak out undetected. Tiptoeing through gaps between shadows, Shen Yun couldn’t see the shadows, but she understood from Chen Ke’s earlier actions that she better not breathe, so she puffed up her cheeks and held her breath.

Finally, without any danger, he pushed open the glass doors of the building and arrived on the street.

The street was full of dark shadows, seemingly celebrating. Only then did Chen Ke notice that the voices of the shadows included n, won, the elderly, and the young, all venting ordinary frustrations overwheld by the trivia of life.

Following a small path along the street, Chen Ke selected his direction based on the density of black umbilical cords, while also being careful not to get hit by falling bodies from above.

The bodies were scattered all over the street; the road was sared with a slick layer of grease from the fat and blood, sticking underfoot and often stepping on so organs. It was disgusting, but he had no choice but to endure.

Chen Ke noticed that the bodies didn’t imdiately turn into dark shadows, but they usually shattered horribly since the height they fell from was so great that it was difficult to leave a whole body.

Turning the corner, Chen Ke saw the white Ti God standing among the buildings, only half of its body showing, staring at him. This guy always appeared without showing his full form, perhaps because it had been severed at the waist in the real world.

The white giant pointed in a direction, which Chen Ke followed. There were almost no black umbilical cords on that street. Fortunately, the bodies didn’t fall as evenly as rain, or there would really be nowhere to go.

Chen Ke sighed. With no other options available, he could only head in that direction, treading lightly.
