hours later...

Chen Ke and Li Moyang sat in a black sedan, rushing toward the eting point set by the company.

It was still early, but Li Moyang wanted to arrive ahead of ti to scout the area, in case it really was a trap - then at least he wouldn’t be running around like a headless chicken.

They were wearing tailored black suits, embedded with bulletproof and waterproof coatings. A 9mm bullet couldn’t penetrate unless it hit the sa spot twice at close range. Although it would be painful, it could at least save their lives.

Li Moyang provided Chen Ke with a new shotgun and a customized competition pistol.

The shotgun was a short-barreled double-barreled model, with two triggers underneath capable of firing two 12-gauge deer bullets simultaneously. The pistol was custom-made based on the M1911A1, equipped with a more sensitive trigger, lighter slide, a high-capacity magazine capable of holding up to 12 rounds, and brand new sights for Chen Ke to quickly draw and aim.

Chen Ke stashed both guns in his Dinsion Pocket and indicated he didn’t need Li Moyang to supply the ammunition. He had long stopped being surprised by Chen Ke’s endless tricks, so Li Moyang didn’t say much.

The car stopped two streets away from a drainage ditch in front of a bridge; they had to walk the rest of the way. Before getting out of the car, Li Moyang grabbed Chen Ke, seemingly with sothing to say.

"Do you trust Slavin?" asked Li Moyang.

"He has no choice but to tell the truth," Chen Ke replied.

"Wrong information could be fatal," Li Moyang warned cautiously.

"I know, but I’ve made it clear to the company, indirectly... I once ca across soone being interrogated at a port. Before the guy died, he revealed that the company is ’making gods,’ which corresponds exactly with what Slavin said," explained Chen Ke.

Li Moyang nodded and got out of the car.

Previously at the mansion, Slavin had revealed so information about the company, including the role that the Si’s consortium had played in the company and the company’s ultimate goal.

This mysterious secret society of the company could be understood as a collective of worldly wealthy people. They used money to manipulate both the legitimate and the underworld, bending gray rules for a greater goal - to "make gods."

As for what purpose creating gods served - obviously, it was to rule the world. But put in nicer terms, it was about bringing a new order to the world, eliminating conflicts between nations, prejudices among races, achieving a universal harmony, and leading humanity into a new childhood.

But Chen Ke, no matter how he considered it, felt that gods couldn’t be created... How do you even define whether sothing is a god or not?

Just as ants can’t create humans, because humans are not just stacks of proteins but also possess thoughts. Then what about gods? How do gods think? Humans can’t understand gods just as ants can’t understand humans, so Chen Ke believed the company’s plan was dood to fail.

Li Moyang’s plan was simple. He would first et with the company’s people and listen to what they had to say. If all went well, that would be that. If not, he would try to divulge the god-making project to gain their trust... or at the very least, induce so hesitation.

"Their plan to make gods is top secret within the organization, not sothing lower mbers like the Si’s consortium would hear about. And you’d have to be the CEO or chairman to get involved in that stuff, so your plan might just work," said Chen Ke.

"If we could join them... not only would it clear all obstacles in the United Federation, but we could also glean their thods of making gods. This matter is imnsely beneficial no matter how you look at it," Li Moyang stated confidently.

"It’s you who wants to join, not ," Chen Ke corrected him.

"Huh, didn’t expect you to care about that. In reality, there’s no difference. Pankia should know more about the company, I just haven’t told him about this yet," said Li Moyang.

"Pankia doesn’t know about your dealings with the company?" Chen Ke was surprised.

"Right, because I sensed his aversion to the company. Besides, as the forr chairman of Si’s consortium, his appearance would likely lead to the company’s distrust," explained Li Moyang.

Chen Ke nodded. The biggest problem with Pankia was that he was still alive.

Corrigan had already cleaned him out, and this news, the company surely wouldn’t be ignorant of. As far as they were concerned, Pankia should be long dead.

Even when Li Moyang let him manage the company, Pankia never stepped half a foot out of the manor; he remotely controlled agents through phone calls and emails.

Now, if they pulled Pankia into this, it would be impossible to establish any connection between Li Moyang and the company.

The two continued walking until they reached the dried-up drainage ditch, situated between the east and west districts of the city, with an overpass stretching across it, and the Raffi Road District visible in the distance.

The drainage ditch was long and stretched to the right, leading to the sea outfall. Li Moyang and Chen Ke looked up at the bridge piers but found no way to climb up.

"If it were you, where would you hide?" Li Moyang inquired.

"On the bridge. The view is too good, and it’s not far, just tens of ters away. An automatic rifle could pick targets off easily. But if you’re more cautious, a certain high-rise on the other side would be good too, with a sniper rifle, it’d be very safe," assessed Chen Ke.

"It’s only 6 p.m. now. Let’s find soplace to kill ti. Later on, we have to ride in their car... I hate riding in other people’s cars," sighed Li Moyang.

"You’ll have to be blindfolded the whole ti too," Chen Ke reminded him.

"It’s becoming more like a spy movie... um, Chen Ke, once we’re blindfolded, will you still be able to see their movents?" Li Moyang asked.

"I have Spiritual Vision. Even blindfolded, I can still see human silhouettes. It’s a Skill unique to Spiritual Ability Users, nothing remarkable. But the Spiritual Ability Detector won’t be able to detect my Spiritual Power, so I can surprise them," Chen Ke replied.

"That puts my mind at ease..." said Li Moyang.

After strolling along the ditch out of boredom, they returned to the street and found a café to sit in, staying until 8:30 p.m. before heading back to the drainage ditch.

Chen Ke could tell Li Moyang was heavy with thoughts. Even though Li Moyang seed composed on the surface, that night’s task was extraordinarily dangerous for him. After all, he wasn’t Chen Ke; he had no Spiritual Power, didn’t carry weapons, and that armor suit was of no use. He was practically delivered into the lion’s mouth. It was impossible for him not to be nervous.

They sat on a bench, gazing at the stars, and waited almost another half an hour before a black stretch van slowly approached and parked on the street above the drainage ditch. Two n in suits looked down, and when they spotted Chen Ke and Li Moyang, they shone a flashlight towards them.

"Who’s Li Moyang?" one of the suited n called out.

"I am," Li Moyang responded.

"The one next to you, a bodyguard?" the man continued to inquire.

"Right," Chen Ke replied with a nod.

"Co on up, we need to search you," instructed the suited man.

Li Moyang glanced at Chen Ke, who nodded, indicating to proceed. In Chen Ke’s eyes, the outlines of the two n in suits were golden... just like White, they were apparently professionals.
