Chapter 500: Chapter 500 Betrayal

Lucina and Diana had cald down, but Chen Ke knew that the two were incompatible and if he wasn’t around, they would likely start bickering again.

Lucina was too prone to jealousy, while Diana, although not interested in him, was the kind of woman who loved to show off her strength – not an easy personality to deal with. The only solution was to make sure these two did not et in the future.

“You said you have a way to find Wang Ailin? Chen Ke, tell , what are you going to do?” Diana broke the silence.

“I can check on what she will be up to, but if she’s already dead, then there’s nothing I can do,” Chen Ke said.

“She’s not dead. I can feel it,” Diana stated firmly.

“We’ll know soon. Wait here for , I’ll be just…” Chen Ke was about to enter the door when both won stood up at the sa ti.

“I think I’d better go with you,” Diana said.

“I’m coming with you; you better not disappear again,” Lucina said, hands on her hips.

Chen Ke, left with no choice, made a gesture for the two won to enter first.

The Illusion Dream Center was Chen Ke’s sanctuary, a place only his closest companions could know of. Lucina went without saying, but he still didn’t fully trust Diana.

As Diana walked past Chen Ke, he placed a hand on her shoulder. She stopped, puzzled, and looked at him.

“Can I trust you?” Chen Ke asked.

“In 2006, you once said you were my destined antagonist. You rember, right?” Diana countered.

“Of course, I rember,” Chen Ke said.

“Maybe things aren’t as they seem… You seem more like a superhero than I do,” Diana said with a smile.

“Don’t try to cozy up to him; he’s my superhero, not yours,” Lucina, who had already walked in, ca back out and stood behind Chen Ke, placing a hand on his shoulder.

“Listen, Lucina, I’m not trying to take Chen Ke from you; he’s not my type. I hope that can put your mind at ease,” Diana said, spreading her hands.

“No, I simply dislike you,” Lucina huffed, pulling Chen Ke’s hand toward the door.

Diana shook her head helplessly and followed them inside. The three arrived at Chen Ke’s room within the Illusion Dream Center.

Lucina and Diana, born and raised in the United Federation, had never seen the working-class apartnts of the Fei Huang Republic, so they were full of curiosity, which for the mont made them forget why they were there, as they busied themselves exploring the small apartnt suite.

“Where did this house co from? Chen Ke, did you use to live here?” Lucina asked curiously.

“Yes, I lived here when I was in high school,” Chen Ke replied.

Diana didn’t seem to have anything to ask; instead, she walked up to the desk and began flipping through a stack of books. She picked up a Chinese translation of “Dark Elf: Holand” and curiously flipped through it.

Lucina stood by the window, looking outside. The windows in this room did not open. After trying for a while and worrying about breaking them, she gave up and pressed her face against the glass, trying hard to make sense of the scenery outside.

“Let’s go see where Wang Ailin is, shall we?” Chen Ke coughed, and the two won snapped out of their daze, quickly reining in their curiosity and following Chen Ke.

Chen Ke led the two won out of the room and to the door of the neighbors’ house next door. He collected his emotions and then knocked on the door.

“Teacher… I’ve co for revision…” Chen Ke said hesitantly.

Diana and Lucina both found it very strange, especially after stepping out into the corridor to see the eerie scenery outside, which made it impossible for them to relax.

“Chen Ke, what is this place? Why does it feel so much like the Great Void?” Diana asked nervously.

Lucina had never seen such a scene before and just stuck close behind Chen Ke.

“This place is safe, I promise. It might just be the safest place in this world,” Chen Ke assured.

At that mont, the door opened a crack, and Teacher Zhou peeked out with a smile on his face that, under the dark green sky, looked quite creepy—even Chen Ke took a step back.

“Chen Ke? Coming for a revision so soon?” Teacher Zhou asked with a smile.

“Is it possible to revise?” Chen Ke asked.

“You need to balance work and rest. Don’t try to bite off more than you can chew. You have to digest knowledge slowly,” Teacher Zhou advised.

“Okay, Teacher Zhou… I’ll just look once…” Chen Ke touched the back of his head, embarrassed as he looked toward Teacher Zhou.

“Uh-huh… That’s alright. You seem quite eager, so let’s review it one more ti today.” Teacher Zhou nodded his head and turned to walk inside the house, but he noticed Lucina and Diana and stopped in his tracks.

“Chen Ke, did you bring the girls from class as well?” Teacher Zhou said.

“I… um.” Chen Ke turned to look at the two girls, not knowing how to answer.

“What is he saying?” Diana asked.

Teacher Zhou was speaking Mandarin, which of course Diana couldn’t understand.

“He’s asking you to wait outside,” Chen Ke said.

Diana nodded and made a bowing gesture with her hands together as a sign of respect to Teacher Zhou. Lucina, following her example, also bowed.

“I’ll be out in just a few minutes. Just don’t start fighting outside,” Chen Ke said uneasily.

“Unless she’s asking for it, I’ll treat her just right,” Lucina said.

“You can be rough if you like,” Diana bantered.

“Chen Ke, let the girls who live downstairs know not to make too much noise from now on. There are many elderly people in this building. It’s better to keep quiet,” Teacher Zhou said mysteriously.

“Alright, alright… let’s go study…” Chen Ke nodded his head.

He followed Teacher Zhou into the house, then closed the door behind him, arriving at the familiar small study.

Teacher Zhou had been grading papers before, and stacks of papers piled up on the desk. Chen Ke saw that the papers were covered in strange characters, with many red crosses and ticks, and various symbols to reverse the order of letters.

Teacher Zhou took a textbook out of the drawer and handed it to Chen Ke, then sat down at the desk to continue grading the papers.

Chen Ke held “Future Observation” and slowly closed his eyes, his mind constantly recalling things about Wang Ailin. Then, he opened the textbook, and the white pages began to flip rapidly on their own, revealing animated images.

The upper body of Wang Ailin appeared on the pages, the perspective eerie, as if Wang Ailin was also staring at Chen Ke, probably using a laptop.

Chen Ke watched Wang Ailin looking intently at him, feeling creepy and particularly perplexed.

He tried to get more information, but the viewpoint was fixed, only allowing him to see her occasionally raised hands, seeming to type on a keyboard.

“Wang Ailin… what are you doing?” Chen Ke muttered to himself. He really couldn’t tell what kind of environnt Wang Ailin was in, because there was just a plain white wall behind her.

Chen Ke noticed the rhythmic tap of Wang Ailin’s keyboard wasn’t lengthy, nor was her typing continuous. She wasn’t constantly typing, so she definitely wasn’t writing a paper or anything. It looked more like she was searching…

Moreover, each ti she tapped on the keyboard, her gaze changed slightly, her mouth opened a bit, and her face filled with desire and joy. Chen Ke couldn’t help but guess if she was looking at sothing illicit.

“Are you on an adult site… Wang Ailin?” Chen Ke pursed his lips, his brow furrowed in puzzlent as to the aning of the images.

“This is sothing that will happen in the future… At least Wang Ailin is still alive, but she… wait a second!” Chen Ke suddenly realized sothing and looked closely at Wang Ailin’s face, noticing so clues.

Wang Ailin seed to have aged sowhat…

In Chen Ke’s mory, Wang Ailin was just a girl his age, and because she looked sowhat cute… she seed even younger, but in this image, Wang Ailin looked much more mature, probably in her thirties.

Chen Ke was lost in thought, wondering what this could an.

At that mont, a figure walked by behind Wang Ailin, the image only capturing the torso. This person wore a white lab coat with rubber gloves on, and by the chest, it was probably a woman.

The woman stopped by Wang Ailin’s right side, one hand on the table, the other on Wang Ailin’s left shoulder. Wang Ailin looked up and smiled affectionately, seemingly at soone she knew well.

Was this at a research institute?

Chen Ke looked closely again, and when he saw a small naplate on the right chest of the person’s clothing, he took a sharp breath, and the textbook started to tremble.

Chen Ke’s hands couldn’t hold onto the textbook; it closed on its own and fell to the floor.

Teacher Zhou picked up the textbook and looked at Chen Ke with a smile. “You see, I told you not to try to swallow a whole big fat man in one go, didn’t I? Without sufficient energy, studying is ineffective.”

“Uh… I should be going, Teacher Zhou,” Chen Ke nodded, quietly leaving the small study.

He didn’t know how to explain to Diana because on another person’s chest, he had seen a small naplate with the letters HCP. Wang Ailin must have joined the foundation.
