Chapter 494: Chapter 494 The Death of Lin Yaying

Lin Yaying pulled a lipstick from the inner pocket of her red business suit.

“I’m trapped. It’s a man nad Chen Ke. He can travel through ti and is an assassin, tistamp April 12, 2009,” Lin Yaying said.

After speaking, she twisted the lipstick and applied it on her lips, then pursed them.

The ssage should have been sent. Having done that, Lin Yaying felt sowhat relieved. This empty space was a dead end in every direction, and staying here was pointless, so she decided to head back to her apartnt.

Just as she reached the bottom of the stairs, Lin Yaying saw Chen Ke sitting at the entrance, silently staring at her.

Chen Ke stood up, hands in his pockets, and slightly tilted his head upward.

“Do you know what you’re doing?” Lin Yaying asked with her arms crossed.

“Let’s lay it all out, Miss Lin. You are from the Divine Descent Sect, right?” Chen Ke said.

For a mont, Lin Yaying’s gaze flickered uncertainly towards other directions, but soon she fixed her eyes back on Chen Ke, her expression no longer playful but cold and stern.

“How do you know about the Divine Descent Sect? It’s been a long ti since anyone has called us that,” Lin Yaying said coldly.

“A long ti?” Chen Ke was puzzled.

“Since we unified the foundation, there have been no other sects. That was decades ago. Don’t tell you are a remnant of the True Knowledge Sect hiding in another tiline,” Lin Yaying said.

Chen Ke snorted. He had discovered contradictions in the statents of Lin Yaying and Xu Jing right from the start. Whatever they said, none of it matched up.

In 1859, Xu Jing told Chen Ke that the foundation had defeated the Divine Descent Sect, eliminating their number one enemy. Yet here, Lin Yaying was telling him that the Divine Descent Sect had unified the foundation, erging as the final victors.

Chen Ke didn’t believe these two won were lying. Contrarily, it was quite possible that both were telling the truth. An idea erged in his mind—Xu Jing and Lin Yaying likely ca from two different versions of the year 2137…

Just like in 2006, when the foundation removed that faulty bead, the universe replaced it with a new one…

In other words, this year of 2009 that Chen Ke was residing in was built on a new version of 2006.

Diana, Lucina, the postman, Li Moyang, and those from the consortium… these people did not exist in the old version of 2006. Maybe the corresponding events would still occur, but the players involved were completely different.

And Xu Jing and Lin Yaying… they were likely just such a case, two versions of the year 2137, two versions of the foundation…

“What exactly are you, Chen Ke?” Lin Yaying asked.

“If I say I am an assassin from the foundation, would you believe ?” Chen Ke retorted.

“You don’t seem to be from the foundation. I don’t see that desire and zeal to explore the unknown in you,” Lin Yaying shook her head.

“I’m not interested in exploring the unknown; I prefer others to supply the answers,” Chen Ke said.

“So… you brought here to get an answer?” Lin Yaying frowned.

“Not just an answer. I want you to tell what the Founder’s Plan really is, why you ca to 2009. Then, I want you to do sothing for …” Chen Ke said.

“Before making further requests, shouldn’t you first consider soone else’s position? Besides, you’re asking for quite a lot,” Lin Yaying laughed.

“Look around, Miss Lin, you don’t have a choice, and I am communicating with great patience…” Chen Ke stepped forward, threateningly.

“Hmm… If I remain silent, what would you do? Torture ?” Lin Yaying scoffed.

“I assure you it would be very painful,” Chen Ke said.

“You underestimate the resolve of the foundation and you don’t understand what we are doing. If you think you can break with pain or threaten with death, I assure you, the foundation’s anti-betrayal training program is more brutal than any torture from any era,” Lin Yaying laughed.

“You probably still think soone here will save you. Whatever you have, here you have no cards to play, Lin Yaying. Tell , what does the Divine Descent Sect want to do in 2009?” Chen Ke said.

“We are saving all of humanity, that’s all I can tell you,” Lin Yaying said.

“I can hardly see how. Are you trying to save humanity with a long list of assassinations?” Chen Ke said.

“Salvation always cos with sacrifices,” Lin Yaying said.

“Well, you’re not the one dying, are you?” Chen Ke said sarcastically.

“I am always ready to sacrifice my life for the noble vision of the foundation. You, without faith, cannot understand us,” Lin Yaying looked down on him.

“Hmm… Hehehe… Hahahaha!” Chen Ke suddenly laughed.

Miss Lin furrowed her brows, her cheeks flushed with anger, unable to comprehend why Chen Ke was laughing so brazenly.

“What are you laughing at, Chen Ke?” Lin Yaying said.

“You speak with such righteousness, do you think I don’t know? You are from the year 2137, no matter what thods your foundation used to travel through ti, in the end, dying in 2009 is nothing more than going ho for you,” Chen Ke laughed.

Lin Yaying didn’t speak, her expression betraying her thoughts; she couldn’t deceive Chen Ke.

“It’s better I make clear your current situation, Lin Yaying. The place you are now has nothing to do with the world you know. Your tricks over there are completely useless. Here, if you die, you are really dead,” Chen Ke said.

“Tsk… don’t think you can fool ,” Lin Yaying said with disbelief.

“The cliff is right behind you, Miss Lin. If you dare, jump off,” Chen Ke said.

Lin Yaying turned to look behind, her breathing quickened, her chest heaving, a cold sweat sliding down her forehead. Her beautiful, cold face now bore a trace of fear.

Seeing that Lin Yaying couldn’t move her legs, Chen Ke humphed, stepped forward, grabbed her arm, and pulled her towards the cliff edge, ignoring how she slapped him.

“Let go of , you bastard! Let go!” Lin Yaying shouted, reaching under Chen Ke’s armpit, attempting to chokehold him.

Chen Ke turned and punched Lin Yaying in the upper abdon. Pain whitened her face; she puffed out a breath, going limp in Chen Ke’s arms, but soon pushed him away, kneeling on the sandy ground, coughing nonstop, her stockings torn in several places.

Chen Ke grabbed her arm again and continued dragging her towards the cliff edge, while Lin Yaying kept punching his back and cursing continuously.

Chen Ke pushed her to the ground, his hand shaped like a gun, and a USP pistol belonging to Li Moyang’s bodyguard appeared in his hand. He shot at the ground near Lin Yaying’s feet, forcing her to retreat until she was backed against the cliff edge.

“Choose, Lin Yaying, jump down or do as I say,” Chen Ke said.

Lin Yaying turned to look at the rolling green clouds below the cliff, which resembled the sky, challenging her understanding of everything.

“Miss Lin, perhaps your Divine Descent Sect has grand visions and noble ideals, but to , you are completely insignificant,” Chen Ke said.

“What is this about? A sudden pang of conscience? Or do you want more Symbiotic Stones?” Lin Yaying knelt on the ground, looking at Chen Ke with both fear and resentnt.

“Neither. It’s just because a friend of mine is on the list,” Chen Ke said.

“Is that all?” Lin Yaying said.

“Not just that… I also want you to take to the year 2137,” Chen Ke said.

Lin Yaying paused for a mont as if digesting Chen Ke’s words.

“Did you understand? Take to 2137,” Chen Ke repeated.

“I can’t do that, Chen Ke. He brought us here, and He takes us back. Without Him, we cannot travel through ti,” Lin Yaying said.

“You can’t do it? You think I would believe you?” Chen Ke said.

“I can’t. If I could, I’d take you to 2137 because then I’d have soone to help deal with you, and I assure you, you’d experience every torture imaginable,” Lin Yaying said vehently.

“Who is ‘He’ you are talking about?” Chen Ke asked.

Lin Yaying laughed coldly, then suddenly her expression changed, her body began to convulse uncontrollably, her eyes rolled back, and she unnaturally stood up.

After her body cald down, her entire deanor had changed, becoming even more cold and aloof.

“Lin Yaying imprisoned, you?” she said, her tone grave and commanding.

“You are…?” Chen Ke looked at Lin Yaying, recognizing she had beco soone else, and noting the bizarre emphasis in her tone.

“Severe job mistake, high penalties you will face, we, retaliation,” Lin Yaying said haughtily.

Chen Ke remained silent, observing Lin Yaying as she twisted her body, trying to stand properly, indicating her host was not yet adept at controlling the human body.

“The contract invalid, mandatory agreent not accepted, Lin Yaying fired, Chen Ke, Chen…” Lin Yaying spoke, then suddenly spurted a mouthful of thick blood, tears of blood streaming from her eyes.

“Ha… uh… the chairman… I still have a chance… I can find a way to rectify…” Lin Yaying held her stomach, seeming to regain her senses.

Chen Ke stepped back, watching the woman’s skin slowly redden and decay, her body organs failing as well. She collapsed to the ground, blood oozing profusely from her body like a squashed persimmon.

“The chairman…” Lin Yaying moaned in pain, then quietly knelt down and died on the spot.

“Damn… isn’t this supposed to be where all Spiritual Energy is ineffective?” Chen Ke wondered.

“Another ruler,” the ssage transmitted from the black stone inside his heart.
