Chapter 412: Chapter 412: Classification of Deities
A feeble killing aura rushed towards Chen Ke head-on, and more than ten guards wielding crossbows erged from behind a solid wooden door.
They shot bolts at Chen Ke, shouting loudly, and after the bolts were deflected by the armor on Chen Ke’s body, they tried to retreat.
In the sewers, they probably avoided using revolvers to prevent people above ground from hearing the noise, right?
But they certainly hadn’t anticipated that one day, an intruder clad in dieval armor would co knocking at their door.
Chen Ke recalled the armor on his right arm, making it easier for him to draw out his Type 67 pistol to shoot.
The crisp, pleasant sound of the chanical slide continuously ringing out left all the guards opposing him down on the ground.
Chen Ke swept the area with his Spiritual Vision, and it seed beyond the door was the underground environnt of the academy that he had seen above ground.
The small room, filled with people, was arrayed beneath Chen Ke’s feet, and by entering through that door and going down a few more levels, he could figure out what was going on.
Xu Jing followed behind Chen Ke, not making a move recklessly, stating that she did not wish to directly interfere with subjective reality.
Chen Ke pushed the heavy wooden door, which the last escaping guard had locked.
“This shouldn’t be difficult for you,” Xu Jing said with a gesture of invitation.
Chen Ke put away his gun and armor, and placed his right hand on the lock, where the iron lockhole slowly turned red, and a disturbing scent of burning perated the air.
Under the effect of An Helei’s ashes, the lock was burned through with a large hole, and Chen Ke gently pushed the door open.
“So… is this what you found in Fan Hede?” Xu Jing asked.
“No, this is an ability inherent to ,” Chen Ke said with a smile.
“You can’t fool ; otherwise, our people wouldn’t attack you. I’ve always wanted to ask you what exactly happened back then?” Xu Jing asked.
“Do you really want to talk about this now?” Chen Ke said, standing in the doorway and looking back.
“I just want to confirm so things,” Xu Jing said.
Chen Ke looked inside the door, hearing the guards’ footsteps growing farther as they fled downstairs, and once again, the crimson fog appeared.
“I only encountered two people from the foundation, one seed to have lost the will to progress, sitting idle speaking indifferently, while the other tried to attack . That’s all,” Chen Ke said.
“Can you tell what they both said to you?” Xu Jing asked.
“Is it that important?” Chen Ke retorted.
“It’s very important, as it might be related to what’s happening underneath here,” Xu Jing said.
Having no choice, Chen Ke pulled the wooden door shut and briefly described the situation at the ti.
In the final monts in Fan Hede, Chen Ke completed the loop of that legendary mont, reproducing the feat of a certain hero, which completely sealed the Great Void.
And the one who tried to attack Chen Ke, his obvious goal was to prevent anyone from completing this cycle.
“So, what exactly is going on? What happened down here?” Chen Ke asked.
“I revisited the foundation and checked the archives from the year 1859, discovering that this year is linked to the origins of a dangerous organization,” Xu Jing said.
Remarkably, Chen Ke saw a worried expression on this woman’s face.
You should know, Xu Jing had always maintained a strong and charming deanor, giving off an “I got everything under control” vibe.
But this ti, Chen Ke distinctly felt this woman’s inner turmoil.
It was turmoil, not fear.
“What are you worried about?” Chen Ke asked.
“I need… your help,” Xu Jing said, looking towards Chen Ke, suddenly speaking out.
“I am fucking already helping you… otherwise why do you think I would run from the United Federation of 2009 to the sewers of Langdon in 1859?” Chen Ke responded irritably.
“I got a bit… out of line… Chen Ke, did I ever ntion to you an organization called Divine Descent Sect?” Xu Jing asked.
Divine Descent Sect?!
Chen Ke’s heart tightened; when he first t Li Moyang, he had ntioned this organization as well.
“Divine Descent Sect is watching you,” Li Moyang had said in Chinese at that ti.
This made Chen Ke recall the scene again, sitting inside the RV with Li Moyang… The feeling, thinking about it today, seed sowhat different.
“Divine Descent Sect, huh,” Chen Ke pondered, which Xu Jing noticed.
“Seeing your expression, so, do you know about them?” Xu Jing asked.
“No, no, I was just montarily lost in the journey of life,” Chen Ke waved his hand.
The situation for Li Moyang might not be as simple as Chen Ke thought; his circumstances might be starkly different…
“In 1859, this organization originated. It will cause trendous danger to humanity in the future,” Xu Jing explained.
“Why do I feel like any term you guys casually ntion could be interpreted as the harbinger of humanity’s doom… there are too many enemies of mankind,” Chen Ke spread his hands.
“This is no joke. This subjective reality still exists, which ans… which ans…” Xu Jing pinched her chin, thinking to herself.
“Hey, hey, we still have serious matters to attend to, we agreed not to deviate,” Chen Ke reminded.
“Chen Ke, the Divine Descent Sect is an extre faction; their research and actions are intolerable. If the situation below us is really related to them, you must help destroy this place,” Xu Jing said.
“What about the other Chen Ke?” Chen Ke asked.
“I’m afraid that Chen Ke is also here for this matter; if things are as I suspect, the severity of this matter might be levels higher than previously estimated,” Xu Jing replied.
She loaded her gun, and Chen Ke could tell that Xu Jing was preparing to get involved herself.
Chen Ke didn’t understand what was going on to make Xu Jing suddenly so agitated, but just hearing the na ‘Divine Descent Sect’ gave a bad feeling.
“This counts as an extra charge… I want additional compensation,” Chen Ke crossed his arms, bargaining.
“Are we really discussing this here?” Xu Jing spread her hands.
“You started it. You’d better tell what the Divine Descent Sect wants to do. I’m currently seeing red mist everywhere, and there’s a pungent sll of blood; I’m sure the source is right below us,” Chen Ke said.
“The Divine Descent Sect is an extre faction from the 19th century; we don’t know exactly what they were originally, but I’m quite clear about their actions and goals: they seek to make contact with deities and hope these beings will lead humanity,” Xu Jing explained.
“Making contact with deities? Does soone like count?” Chen Ke patted his chest.
“You’re different from them… Chen Ke, have I ever told you that deities are categorized?” Xu Jing asked.
“Deities have categories? How did you manage that? Is it divided by sea, land, and air?” Chen Ke scratched his head.
“Of course not, deities transcend reality and are anomalous phenona. The Foundation discovered that each deity isn’t isolated; simply put, they belong to factions and vie with each other,” Xu Jing said.
“What does that have to do with the Divine Descent Sect?” Chen Ke asked.
“It’s related because the deities that actively and eagerly respond to human contact are mostly goddamn dangerous… Rember 2006? It was a global Clan-ization apocalypse; those red Maggot People were results of failed transformations, which I think I told you about when we first t,” Xu Jing said.
“It’s been so long, who rembers!” Chen Ke argued, though suddenly, everything clicked for him.
“We haven’t found a way to kill a deity yet, so we could only destroy that reality. The Foundation used a Weapon to turn everyone to ash, causing a doomsday event that was severe enough to be stripped out of the universe. We’re certain that the deity Nayuk, that causes humans to beco walking maggots, is deep underground,” Xu Jing explained.
Those sandbags piled at the subway station entrance, are they to block the deity underground?
But Xu Jing didn’t explain or ntion the formless god that consus the universe; perhaps she doesn’t know either?
Or, is the universe’s way of eliminating beads, to rely on that deity to consu everywhere?
“Most deities aim to transform humans into the Clan; considering their attitude and behavior towards humanity, the Foundation has nad these two types of deities…” Xu Jing spoke, and suddenly, Chen Ke’s mind went blank, and an idea erged.
They
… are the outsiders.
We
— are the dominators.
