Chapter 300: Chapter 300: Visit from the Administration Bureau

Chen Ke hadn’t had a conversation like this in a long ti, one not about battle or spiritual energy, but about local customs and the everyday life of ordinary people. At this mont, Pihom seed not like the leader of a robbery organization but a kindly federal elder.

The recent history of Opportunity City was like a scroll of waxing and waning fortunes, developing from an unnoticed inland small town into the world’s car factory, and then dwindling into what it was today.

In these 50 years, generations living in Opportunity City went through earth-shattering changes, riding the waves of the era straight into the clouds, as if they could reach up and pluck the stars and the moon, only to be ground back into the dirt by the wheels of ti, forced to leave their hos.

Ti was like a long river, and people could only drift along with the current. Was it the era that made the heroes, or the heroes that shaped the era? This was a false question; in the unknown, destiny has its course, it’s just that it chose you.

Pihom, speaking of the past, seed to return to his youth, and Chen Ke was thoroughly enjoying himself.

Just then, the door to the gun shop was suddenly pushed open. Almost instinctively, both n placed their hands on their gun holsters, nearly drawing their weapons.

The door to the gun shop was only ajar, easily pushed open by anyone, but who would wander into a closed gun shop on this quiet street?

There were four newcors. Strangely enough, they were all of Asian descent. In a place like Opportunity City, encountering soone Asian was rare, let alone four at once.

“Who are you…?” Pihom asked.

The four Asians looked at Chen Ke and remained silent. Pihom glanced at Chen Ke and reached for the revolver tucked behind his back.

Chen Ke held Pihom’s wrist and shook his head. He knew Pihom thought these four were there to seek revenge on Chen Ke.

But that wasn’t it; those were all concocted stories, and Chen Ke didn’t recognize these four people.

“We’re from the Administration Bureau,” said the lead Asian.

He was a lean young man with a buzz cut, and his companions were equally trim, dressed in varying casual attire, carrying triangular bags; they clearly looked like low-threat ard on-duty apparel, and Chen Ke had no doubt they were fully ard.

Blending in with the crowd in the marketplace, dressed in low-threat sportswear or casual attire and carrying handguns, teams of four: this was the standard practice for a four-person agent squad.

“The Administration Bureau…? What are you doing here?” Chen Ke asked.

“We’ve been investigating strange occurrences over the past two months, and we’ve now pinpointed the suspect’s range of activities. It seems that he has been basing his actions around this place, so we ca in to have a look,” said the lean young man.

Chen Ke felt a chill down his spine; he was largely talking about Chen Ke these past two months. But Chen Ke’s expression did not change; the man hadn’t specified why, so it was best not to show any slip-up.

“We have no idea about the strange things you’re talking about; this is simply a closed gun shop,” Pihom said.

“I know, we an no harm, just coming to take a look. We thought it was empty,” the young man said with a smile, looking around.

“Didn’t you see the car parked outside the door?” Chen Ke asked.

“The city has been rather unrestful lately, nurous mutant toadn appeared in the deserted residential area not far from here, Raffi Road and Holy Oak have seen a series of homicides, the West Gold Building suffered a duplication phenona costing the Administration Bureau a number of people, and there have been strange incidents at the Raffi Road subway…” the young man explained.

Chen Ke leaned on the counter, quietly watching the man.

“What do these things you’re talking about have to do with us?” Pihom didn’t know about so of the events the young man ntioned, but he was quite aware of the toadn.

“After each event, security caras captured the image of an Asian youth at the scene. We believe these incidents are not isolated, and in any case, this person is extrely dangerous,” said the young man.

Chen Ke moved his right hand from the edge of the counter down to his side. Pihom too slowly rested his hand on the grip of his revolver.

The atmosphere of the four Administration Bureau agents across from them shifted as well, an aura that only well-trained killing machines possessed.

At that mont, the door was pushed open again.

It was Lucina and Priskin.

“Pi! Get ready to move… Who is this?” Priskin entered and imdiately saw four Oriental youths standing in the gun shop.

“I think they’re lost,” Lucina glanced at Chen Ke and Pihom and instantly grasped the current situation.

Four against four.

Were they really going to fight? Chen Ke didn’t move, but his thoughts were tumbling. If they started a fight, there would be no turning back. With a burst of the soul gun, soone would definitely die in this room.

Lucina, Priskin, and Pihom were all ordinary people, likely only carrying the most common handguns, but the four opposite them were absolutely Spiritual Ability Users, and they ca prepared.

Chen Ke could pause ti, but he couldn’t touch all four targets at the sa ti. If he missed one, all three on his side would die.

“It looks like you guys are moving?” the youth suddenly said with a smile.

“Exactly, business here isn’t going well,” Pihom replied.

“It’s not too safe either. I advise you to move quickly; the suspect could be nearby,” the youth added.

“Yeah, we’re planning to leave in a few days,” Priskin said.

The eight of them fell silent for a while, the atmosphere slightly easing.

“Let introduce myself; my na is Zhou Yi, and these three are my companions, Zhang Hehuan, Jia Jin, and Li Ming,” Zhou Yi smiled.

“I am Chen… Xiao Ming. I hope you catch that suspect soon,” Chen Ke waved his hand.

Lucina covered her mouth and chuckled softly.

“We will, after all, it’s the Administration Bureau’s duty to protect the citizens. It was nice eting you; we’ll take a look elsewhere. Maybe we’ll et again if fate allows,” Zhou Yi said.

“I don’t think we’re that fated,” Chen Ke replied.

Lucina and Priskin stepped aside to make way, letting the four Oriental agents leave the door. They didn’t relax until the agents were far away.

“You arrived just in ti,” Pihom laughed.

The two were noncommittal; Priskin had already made plans to co, and Lucina was just looking for Chen Ke.

“Who were they?” Lucina asked.

“They claid to be from the Administration Bureau, and it seems like they were after Chen Ke…” Pihom frowned, turning to look at Chen Ke before asking, “Do you think they already know it’s you?”

“If they really did, I would figure out a way to lead them away,” Chen Ke shrugged.

Lucina looked at Chen Ke with so concern. Being targeted by rivals in the underworld was one thing, but trouble from the Administration Bureau was on a whole different level.

“I really didn’t know you caused such a stir these past two months… No wonder Hainerd always says you’re busy,” Pihom said.

“Chen Ke… I’m sorry.” Lucina approached Chen Ke, placing her left hand on his shoulder.

“Lucina, you seem… sowhat strange today,” Priskin suddenly said from the side.

“Hm?” Lucina sounded puzzled.

“I don’t know, you just seem different from before. How to put it, a bit ethereal… not as lively as before,” Priskin spoke, patting Lucina on the back.

“Don’t touch , Russian,” Lucina bristled, swatting Priskin’s hand away.

“I think this isn’t sothing that should be brought up for sharing,” Pihom looked at Chen Ke with a aningful smile.
