Chapter 263: Chapter 263: Farewell in the Fla

The eight swordsn each held a shield, distinct from the triangular lozenge shields of the silver knights. Their shields were smaller and rounder, more lightweight, even smaller than Captain Arica’s shield by two sizes. The symbol on the shield was a smiling sun.

Chen Ke couldn’t tell if the emblem represented the Knight Order or the country, but whichever it was, the sunny badge looked rather amusing, with its brilliant yellow and eight red triangular rays spreading outward from the round sun.

The most bewitching part was the face on the sun; at first, it seed to be smiling, but upon closer inspection, the expression was ambiguously mocking, subtly conveying scorn and disdain.

A continuous torrent of killing intent surged towards Chen Ke. These soldiers were weak enough that, with the Holy Relics Chen Ke currently possessed and his transcendent skills, he had more than enough ability to handle them.

Upon reflecting, Chen Ke realized that when Faralis had pointed her sword at him earlier, he hadn’t felt any killing intent. He wondered whether Faralis was just trying to scare him, or if like Bader, she had a way to make her killing intent undetectable.

“What are you daydreaming about?” Faralis snapped, pulling Chen Ke back to reality.

He snapped out of it just as Faralis charged forward with her sword.

Not to be underestimated, the eight swordsn were well-trained. Three of them focused on Faralis, while the remaining five spread out, preparing to surround Chen Ke.

Their decision to do so, Chen Ke surmised, was because of his status as a priest, while Faralis’s attire identified her as a re soldier.

Faralis’s fighting was akin to dancing smoothly dodging the movents of the three soldiers with minimal steps. Her silver rapier struck like a venomous snake, shattering their chain mail and piercing their flesh.

anwhile, Chen Ke’s battle had also begun. He lacked the graceful movents of Faralis and wasn’t as confident in his swordfighting skills.

Fighting monsters and zombies was one thing, but facing truly trained swordsn of this era was an entirely different matter, particularly after witnessing Faralis’s combat. He truly understood how a sword should be used as a weapon of murder.

However, he had his own way of dealing with them.

“Five people think they can take on?” Chen Ke snorted coldly.

He forcefully plunged his great sword into the ground and then drew his M1911A1, firing at the five n.

“Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!”

After five terrifying gunshots, all the swordsn lay in pools of blood. They had never seen guns before, so when Chen Ke pulled out his pistol and aid at them, they failed to shield their bodies with their shields.

Chen Ke didn’t regard Fan Hede’s era as close to his image of the dieval era, considering this was a ti of significant spiritual energy and transcendence; who knew what special effects those unimposing little round shields might have.

Thus, he aid his shots at areas not covered by the shields.

Even Faralis was startled by the sudden gunfire. In this era, things like firearms or cannons probably hadn’t been invented yet, otherwise they wouldn’t be using catapults for sieges.

She looked, puzzled, at the gun in Chen Ke’s hand and then at the bodies of the swordsn lying a few steps away from him, completely baffled.

Chen Ke slipped his gun back into its holster and straightened his robe.

“Is that a new Magic Catalyst invented by the Church?” Faralis asked warily, the swordsman was dead, now Chen Ke was the main enemy.

The strange way Chen Ke instantly killed five soldiers furrowed Faralis’s brows, she had never seen such magic, although it was loud, it was indeed effective, and it was instant, with amazing power! This made retrieving her own greatsword much more difficult.

“If you want to learn… I won’t teach you,” Chen Ke said, wagging a finger.

“Who would want to learn that kind of thing!” Faralis snapped, clearly averse to the Church’s magic. Chen Ke noticed a sar of blood on her right cheek, splattered there during the earlier killing.

“Since you’re not interested… then I’ll…” Chen Ke spoke while considering. He felt he needed to follow Faralis to find a way to break the ti loop, but their situation was now sowhat awkward.

“Return the sword to , and I’ll spare your miserable life,” Faralis demanded, pointing her rapier at Chen Ke.

The blade still had blood on it.

“You really aren’t reasonable…” Chen Ke shook his head.

“It was taken from , I’m rely reclaiming what’s mine,” Faralis retorted angrily.

“There was a reason it was taken from you,” Chen Ke said. Even so, he was curious why the Black Ring Sect would take the sword from Faralis.

“What a waste of ti…” Sleery sneered, advancing toward Chen Ke.

A killing intent surged from Faralis, and Chen Ke muttered “damn,” not expecting Faralis to pose such a great threat. He was extrely reluctant to conflict with Faralis, but it had now beco inevitable to fight.

Just as Chen Ke was preparing to summon the Sun Spear Hamr, an even more ominous premonition surged within him. Suddenly, a hollow wind sound ca from the sky, and Chen Ke looked up to see a burning oil barrel flying towards their position.

The mont he looked up, Faralis’s thin sword pierced through Chen Ke’s heart, sending a shock through his body, half of which felt like it was imrsed in cold water.

Despite this, he still managed to snap his fingers at Faralis’s chest. A burst of Spiritual Energy for an hour was enough to blow her out of range of the falling oil barrel.

Faralis was thrown out, the silver rapier still stuck in Chen Ke. The next second, the oil barrel exploded beside Chen Ke, engulfing him in flas.

Chen Ke was blown away by the blast from the barrel’s fall, crashing into a nearby wall, his whole body covered in scorching tar, catching fire.

Faralis rose from the ground, her hat having rolled off her head, her long hair unfurling in the hot wind. Watching Chen Ke rolling on the ground trying to extinguish the flas, a hint of pity rose in her eyes.

Being sared with scorching burning oil was painful enough to live through, not to ntion, Chen Ke was now consud by the fierce fire, his fate foreseeable.

Chen Ke’s movents slowed down and finally, he seed to give up, lying motionless on the ground. The air filled with the sickening sll of roasted flesh. Faralis moved closer to Chen Ke, the rapier stuck in his body also scorched black.

“May this fierce fire kill every priest in your Black Ring Sect!” Faralis declared, turning to draw the sword stuck in the muddy ground, Unyielding Fury, then picked up her hat, put it back on, and ran into the alley.
