Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Jokes That Can’t Be Made Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Jokes That Can’t Be Made “I suggest we get the guns first,” Diana said before Chen Ke could speak. She pinched her left arm to relieve the pain while seeking his agreent with her eyes.

“I was thinking the sa. Although it looks safe here, having a gun in hand adds a lot of reassurance,” Chen Ke nodded.

The United Federation had a strong gun culture; whenever people faced difficulties, just giving them guns could invigorate them.

“Although I don’t see much use in ordinary firearms… since you’ve decided on this, let’s get the guns first, and then tomorrow we can look for food and dicine,” Ying Baiyi said, crossing his arms.

“Tomorrow? Why wait until tomorrow? Can’t we do it tonight? I believe everyone must be quite hungry by now,” Sam asked with a smile.

Ying Baiyi fell silent for a while, seemingly contemplating whether to share what he knew. He furrowed his brows and thought for a long ti but ended up saying nothing.

“You seem like you have sothing to say. Co on, share it and cheer everyone up,” Chen Ke prodded.

“No, I was just considering that after we bring back the guns, we’ll have a lot to do and may not have ti to look for food and dicine. So, it’s better not to go out at night,” Ying Baiyi replied with a smile.

“Don’t tell you’re afraid of the dark, Ying Baiyi,” Sam laughed.

“But seriously, how many guns can the three of you possibly bring back? Besides, the county police station’s gun cabinets have electronic locks. You probably can’t open them, right?” Diana suddenly asked.

“If we’re talking about rifles, maybe one person can carry eight… As for the lock on the gun cabinet… we’ll adapt as necessary,” Chen Ke answered.

His calculation was based on the fact that the county police stations mainly stored 9mm pistols, Remington M870 shotguns, or M4A1 carbines.

An M4 rifle weighs 2.68 kilograms empty, and the M870 is slightly heavier than the carbine. One person carrying eight rifles would have a load of about 20 kilograms.

Carrying 20 kilograms for half an hour was no big deal for Sam, a forr professional soldier, and Chen Ke had endless stamina and strength. As long as he could carry it, the distance didn’t matter.

Considering firearms are not as easy to carry as packages and that one could not carry more even if one was capable, so a maximum of eight per person was feasible, leaving hands free to carry ammunition boxes…

Bullets were much heavier than guns, and new bullets were packed in ammunition boxes, requiring them to be manually loaded into magazines… Empty magazines also needed sothing to be packed into.

Chen Ke stood there, lost in thought as if in a daze, until Diana slapped him on the back.

“It’s impossible for all three of you to bring back eight each; soone needs to carry ammunition specifically. There are also bulletproof vests, knives, and so on,” Diana said.

“We don’t need too many guns… After all, their effectiveness against monsters isn’t great, and we certainly won’t let the survivors fight the monsters,” Ying Baiyi added at this point.

If they were to search for the subway, it would definitely be Ying Baiyi leading Sam and Chen Ke. Ying Baiyi could use his Spiritual Energy and would handle the real combat, so Chen Ke and Sam wouldn’t need much ammunition.

At least that’s what he thought.

“Providing them with guns is just for their comfort. A few guns, over a hundred bullets, having them take turns guarding at the upper windows of the hotel is enough,” Ying Baiyi stated.

“But what if they do encounter an ergency situation where they must face monsters?” Sam asked.

“Don’t worry, it won’t happen. As long as you don’t recklessly run outside, it will be very safe here. If it reaches a point where you have to use guns against the monsters, it ans I’m already dead,” Ying Baiyi assured.

“Okay, superhero, so you an to say we only need to worry about what weapons we need to use, right?” Chen Ke asked with a smile.

“Yes, arm yourselves, and leave the rest to ,” Ying Baiyi nodded.

Sam glanced at Chen Ke, wanting to know if Chen Ke agreed with Ying Baiyi’s statent. Chen Ke nodded, deciding to act according to Ying Baiyi’s plan for now.

“Alright, now that we’ve reached an agreent, it’s ti to go get the guns. But before then, I’d like to know a bit more about you, Chen Ke,” Ying Baiyi said, putting his arm around Chen Ke’s shoulders.

“Hmm? What do you want to ask?” Chen Ke looked at Ying Baiyi.

“Diana is a CPA agent, and although she’s currently without Spiritual Energy and her left arm is injured, her combat skills and intuition are still at the level of a Spiritual Agent,” Ying Baiyi said, looking towards Diana.

“Sam is a ranger of the United Federation, with physical and psychological qualities far beyond ordinary people, and has also gone through several years of systematic combat training,” Ying Baiyi then looked towards Sam.

Finally, he turned to Chen Ke: “And you, Chen Ke?”

The atmosphere subtly changed; Ying Baiyi’s question was purposeful.

“What do you an? Do you doubt because I don’t have a military background, afraid that I’ll hold you back?” Chen Ke laughed.

“No, no… you know what I an. Your composure and the way you carry yourself make think you’re no ordinary person… Look at you, completely unpanicked, as if you’re certain you can co out unscathed… Even in Diana and Sam, I can feel the turmoil and despondency deep inside them, but you… I can’t even sense your heartbeat…” Ying Baiyi spoke darkly.

Chen Ke remained silent, looking towards Diana, noticing that she slowly pulled out a revolver, while Sam’s arm muscles tensed up.

“This isn’t the ti for suspicion… Ying Baiyi.” Diana cocked her hamr, and the revolver’s cylinder slowly rotated, making a precise chanical sound.

“His calm has saved many lives. If it hadn’t been for his shout before the subway collision, I would have been killed,” Sam laughed, his fists crackling.

The four were silent for a few seconds.

Ying Baiyi suddenly laughed, saying, “Why so tense? I was just trying to find out if you knew how to use a rifle. Hahaha!”

With this absurd laughter, Diana and Sam both relaxed, knowing they weren’t sure they could defeat a Spiritual Ability User. Diana tucked her gun back into her pocket, while Sam stood to one side, arms crossed.

“I’ve fired a few shots at a shooting range, it shouldn’t be hard,” Chen Ke said.

“No worries, I can teach you,” Sam laughed.

“That settles it then, right? We’re all good,” Ying Baiyi said with a laugh, glancing at Chen Ke.

“Don’t do that again, we’re all on edge, and can’t take jokes like that,” Diana said helplessly.

“Yes, ma’am. It seems you don’t appreciate the Fei Huang Republic’s sense of humor. Chen Ke, you must be a hogrown Asian from the United Federation,” Ying Baiyi laughed.

“Whatever you say,” Chen Ke replied.

The farce ended, and Chen Ke, Sam, and Ying Baiyi left through the door, heading to the County Police station Ying Baiyi ntioned.

Diana watched their departing figures, focusing her gaze on Ying Baiyi, then glanced at the red dust on the ground, as if she had thought of sothing.

She furrowed her eyebrows slightly, unable to clear her confused thoughts for now, so for the mont, she put them to the back of her mind and turned to walk up the steps.
