Chapter 187: Chapter 187: The Missing Subway Chapter 187: Chapter 187: The Missing Subway Hearing Ying Baiyi’s words, everyone was sowhat confused for a mont, but Chen Ke caught a clue.

When they got off the subway, he had already realized that the wreckage was not the sa train they had ridden before.

When had the subway been swapped?

He rembered that before the collision, the entire train had plunged into darkness, and he had not seen any lights on the dashboard in the driver’s cabin.

So it had already been swapped by then. That ant the subway they had been riding had already changed before the crash.

Since the subway had been switched, the original, normal subway must have been staying sowhere.

“Are you saying, if we find the subway we were on before and ride it back, it’ll work?” Chen Ke asked.

“Exactly, the Mirror World has its own physical rules, and the subway you were on broke these rules, becoming a bridge between the two worlds…” Ying Baiyi said.

“Ha! Our subway, then what about your subway?” Chen Ke asked.

He noticed that every ti Ying Baiyi spoke, he clearly distinguished between “us” and “you.”

“Our subway would work too, it’s essentially the sa thing,” Ying Baiyi said, spreading his hands.

“It all sounds logical, but none of us here knows how to operate a subway… And finding that particular train… isn’t going to be an easy task,” Diana said.

She was right; finding their subway train amidst a city’s network could hardly be called a needle in a haystack situation, but it was like looking for a seven-spotted ladybug in a patch of grass.

Moreover, being in such a bizarre and strange place, searching for it would surely encounter unknown dangers.

“This is the only way, friends, it surely beats lounging around here, right?” Ying Baiyi said.

Chen Ke looked at Diana, then at Sam, neither of whom seed suspicious of this sudden level 9 agent.

“What do you suggest? We go into the subway station and search along the tracks?” Chen Ke asked.

“I’d like to say no, but there’s no other way, we really need to settle in here for a while,” Ying Baiyi replied.

The three were silent for a mont; after all, the other party was a level 9 agent from the Federation Spiritual Power Investigation Bureau, and since he could only suggest this thod, no one else could offer a more constructive idea.

“Then we better start now, we need a base of operations where we can stay, it needs to be safe and ideally with a good view… We also need to gather enough food, and of course, weapons…” Sam said.

Sam was action-oriented. Chen Ke could tell that he was also on the verge of collapse, but as a soldier, he was able to find ways to calm himself down and stay in control.

And that thod was to find sothing to do and continually set short-term goals for himself to divert his attention.

“It seems you understand the situation well, pal, I think we should get started right away with these tasks,” Ying Baiyi clapped his hands and smiled.

Sam looked at Chen Ke, and from his expression, Chen Ke saw a relieved disposition; after all, for him, the words of Ying Baiyi, being an agent of the FPI, were absolutely trustworthy, and he brought forward positive news.

Chen Ke didn’t speak and looked towards Diana, who nodded at him.

“Okay, the imdiate priority is to find a secure place to rest; weapons, dicine, and food… these are the essentials we are currently lacking…” Chen Ke said.

“I can go find so guns, if the local gun shops haven’t been emptied…” Sam was eager, feeling it was finally his mont to shine.

“I’ve been guiding so of the survivors and have co across so decent places, and I know where we can find guns, but it will be sowhat dangerous…” Ying Baiyi said.

“Looks like I can’t help with much… I’m just a casualty myself…” Diana said, shaking her head.

“My suggestion is that we don’t split up, but instead tackle one thing at a ti together. Diana, you can stay with the survivors, soothe them, and at least prevent them from becoming hysterical,” Chen Ke said.

“That makes sense, so let’s do that. There’s a hotel nearby, a six-story building with ready-made rooms that can accommodate more than fifty people without any pressure,” Ying Baiyi suggested.

“Tell about the guns, where are they stored, and what are the dangers?” Sam asked.

“Oh… my friend, I don’t know if you have seen those red ones, like a bunch of maggot-infested humanoid objects…” Ying Baiyi shook his head and asked.

“We’ve seen them in the subway station, those are maggots? I thought they were mud…” Sam said with a look of disgust on his face.

“There is a County Police station nearby, there’s definitely an armory in there, but the problem is… those maggots keep wandering around inside,” Ying Baiyi said helplessly.

“Are they very powerful?” Chen Ke asked with a smile.

“They aren’t powerful, but that doesn’t an they aren’t dangerous. I can certainly handle them, but I don’t have the confidence to clear all the monsters from the station alone, and you guys would need to go in to move guns and ammunition, right?” Ying Baiyi spread his hands.

“How difficult are those things to deal with?” Sam asked, puzzled. He didn’t know that Spiritual Monsters are very difficult to destroy by purely physical ans.

“Ordinary people can’t deal with them, and ordinary weapons also have difficulty causing effective damage, but that doesn’t an it’s impossible. Looks like I need to give you guys a briefing. Spiritual Power has attributes, divided by the Administration Bureau into six categories and eighteen types, but it’s pointless to tell you which are those six categories and eighteen types right now. You just need to know that if you don’t possess Spiritual Power, dealing with a Spiritual Monster is a tough deal. That’s why the military forces of the United Federation are divided into spiritual and conventional types,” Diana interjected.

Sam couldn’t follow up. He was clueless about Spiritual Power.

Chen Ke, on the other hand, had a profound experience. Just after crossing over, dealing with a human-faced dog was like this; ordinary 9 mm bullets couldn’t even cause it to flinch, while Parker’s Punishnt attribute bullets could take one out with a single shot.

And so Spirit Power weapons, without special attributes, although being purely physical damage, still have various special effects.

“But ordinary bullets are still sowhat useful. After all, it’s better to use guns against monsters than to fight up close with a fire axe,” Ying Baiyi added.

“Let’s first move the people to the hotel, then you take and Sam to that County Police station, carve us a path with that beautiful spear of yours so we can empty the place of equipnt,” Chen Ke said with a grin.

“No problem, let’s do that. Once we’ve settled the survivors, we’ll pick so strong ones from inside to form a base defense squad and a subway search team, officially starting our mission,” Ying Baiyi clapped his hands.

“Alright then, move your asses girls, we’re starting work. RUA!” Sam said in a Marine Corps tone.

Ying Baiyi and Sam walked towards the survivors, while Chen Ke and Diana lingered for a mont.

“Diana, I don’t trust him. There are holes in his story,” Chen Ke said bluntly, grabbing Diana and speaking softly.

“Like what?” Diana asked.

“If this is the Mirror World, then why is the subway entrance piled up with sandbags? I don’t believe the real Carefree City is like this,” Chen Ke shook his head, then continued. “And those Maggot People… where did they co from? It doesn’t make sense.”

“I don’t know either, Chen Ke, but he’s a Level 9 agent from the FPI. Perhaps he has things he’s concealing from us, but I don’t think he ans us harm. Maybe… so things are too confidential for him to discuss with us?” Diana speculated.

“You trust him now only because he’s a Level 9 agent of the FPI,” Chen Ke sighed.

“He has more information than us, and we’re currently helpless. If he wanted to trick us, there’s nothing we could do, but I believe that his thod of taking the subway back must be true; otherwise, he wouldn’t be so urgent…” Diana said.

“Have you seen him at the Administration Bureau?” Chen Ke asked.

“Between the two subordinate departnts of the Administration Bureau, the Central Psionic Authority and the Federation Spiritual Power Investigation Bureau, there are thousands of field agents. I couldn’t possibly have t them all,” Diana shook her head.

Chen Ke sighed. At this point, he had no choice but to take things one step at a ti. Although he didn’t fully trust Ying Baiyi, at least he had offered a proactive goal.

“Hey, what are you guys still doing there? Co on,” Sam called back, waving at Chen Ke and Diana.

Chen Ke and Diana looked at each other and could only reluctantly follow.
