Chapter 256: Chapter 237: The New Alchemist Council is Established
As long as one lives long enough, truly any sort of strange and rare incidents can be encountered.
Alchemy City had been banished into the void, and the teleportation circle casually set up by Amberser could not possibly be effective, after all, it was a seal imposed by deities.
If a simple teleportation circle could break the seal, then wouldn’t the deities lose face?
The only explanation was that the chairman had discovered the teleportation circle and then did sothing to it.
Although Amberser had only just t the chairman, considering the ti, this person had been banished in the void for several months. Amberser had installed the Tentacles of Chaos on the chairman, making him the ruler of that world. With such a long ti, it was enough for the legendary alchemist to co up with many tricks.
Amberser took so of the sli and returned to the laboratory for careful study.
Half a day later, Amberser had reached a conclusion: this sli was the body tissue of a sort of creature he had never seen before, and furthermore, it was still alive.
It looked like sli, but it was actually completely different from ordinary slis.
Be it Amberser’s rcury Sli or other types of slis, they all have a characteristic of lting other substances and consuming them. rcury Slis only consu tals, while other slis will eat any kind of organic matter.
But this sli had no corrosive properties at all, which was very inconsistent with the characteristics of slis.
As Isabel had said, this sli possessed a very special ti-space instability characteristic. Most creatures that consud it would experience varying degrees of rejuvenation.
But this effect was completely different from that of the Youth Magic Potion produced by the Elf Tribe.
The Youth Magic Potion changed one’s physical constitution, restoring the body to a youthful and vigorous state, which had nothing to do with ti; it rely extended one’s lifespan. Therefore, this costic effect had a tolerance build-up, and it wasn’t possible to extend one’s life by several decades at once; the best effect was only for ten years, and after taking more than thirty doses of the Youth Magic Potion, most people would start to develop resistance, and the effect would diminish.
In the period before Amberser’s transformation into a lich, he practically had to take one bottle a year just to barely keep alive. So, when the price of Youth Magic Potion increased by half a million, he knew he couldn’t afford it anymore and resolutely transford into a lich.
However, the ti-space instability effect of the sli was extraordinary. It didn’t matter what your body was like, as it would reverse your body’s ti to several decades ago, a bit like the ti reversal effect of the Ti Dragon, but once the Power of Ti dissipated, the rejuvenation effect naturally disappeared as well.
“Naomi committed suicide in the Chaos World, and after being resurrected, she carried the Power of Ti. This sli transferred from the Chaos World also carries the Power of Ti… That’s really a treasure trove, isn’t it? The chairman might actually acquire a Divine Nature related to ti in the end, which would be formidable.”
A deity related to ti is bound to have a high level of divine power, right?
Amberser felt a bit of regret, thinking that he should have treated him better back then. Looking back, the relationship wasn’t solid enough.
But no matter, there would be opportunities in the future; after all, his great-granddaughter was still in his hands.
Now there was no need to worry about that problem. Amberser pulled out a piece of parchnt and began to scribble down a multitude of formulas, then handed it to Isabel.
“There are five new potion recipes on here, make ten bottles of each for ,” he said.
Isabel nervously took the recipes, and after reading them, she breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, she could understand what was written and knew how to proceed.
Amberser didn’t idle, pulling out a large number of bottles and vials to begin his work. Whereas Isabel was only making five kinds, he intended to make more than a dozen.
These new potion recipes were specially designed by Amberser based on the characteristics of the sli, so of which were improvents on Isabel’s formulas, which he left entirely to Isabel to handle. The remaining dozen or so were Amberser’s own ideas.
This sli could do more than just create a diluted version of the Youth Potion.
As half a day passed, Amberser looked at the dozens of potion bottles before him, feeling sowhat displeased.
These potions were mostly failures. Amberser had originally planned to extract the Power of Ti from the sli and create a new type of enhancent potion.
It was a special potion that could significantly increase one’s reaction and speed for a short ti, expensive but indispensable.
To ordinary people, enhancent potions could double the range of movents, and they were also effective for so legendary warriors who weren’t skilled in agility.
But the enhancent potions on the market had one problem: once the potion’s effect ended, it would leave the user dizzy, and in severe cases, bedridden for days.
This enhancent potion also modified bodily functions, providing intense stimulation in a short ti, allowing the body to beco stronger and faster. Such strengthening naturally ca with side effects, so dizziness was inevitable.
But the effect of this sli was completely different; it might be possible to formulate an enhancent potion without side effects.
It was just that it had failed. The potions he had concocted either had no enhancent effect, or the effect was extrely weak, or the side effects were stronger than the original version.
“Indeed, innovation isn’t that easy. Even with new materials discovered, it’s not sothing that yields results overnight,” he said.
Amberser was not surprised by this. Alchemy was not such a simple thing, and the dozens of failed potions were not useless—they at least pointed out the wrong direction, greatly increasing the success rate for Amberser’s next experints.
But there was indeed so good news, Isabel had yielded results with her improved version of the Youth Magic Potion.
Three potion bottles lay in front of Amberser, their colors slightly different, but all with the beautiful appearance of stars gathered within.
Isabel said excitedly, “Teacher, you are incredible, all three potions are better than my original formula.”
The effects of the three potions to reverse aging were better than the original version, but it was unclear how long they would last, and a few more days were needed to determine this.
Amberser nodded, showing not the slightest hint of pride.
Modifying an existing formula was much simpler than creating a new one from scratch. Even if the ingredients deserved half the credit, Isabel’s efforts couldn’t be ignored.
Amberser instructed, “Do more tests over the next few days, and then categorize them according to the different effects. We will sell the basic version for one thousand two hundred gold coins, and then there’s also a premium version, an exquisite version… Anyway, think of the nas yourself. Once the basic version has entered the market, we’ll promote the other versions.”
“Ah? Can we really do that?” Isabel asked in surprise.
“Didn’t your previous teachers teach you to do that? Like diluting potions with water to decrease their effectiveness and selling it as the real deal?” asked Amberser.
Isabel quickly said, “No, that’s a serious cri in Alchemy City.”
The city that respects knowledge the most naturally cares a lot about the quality of alchemy products; selling fake potions could result in the death penalty at worst, and at the least, the confiscation of all assets followed by permanent expulsion. Ordinary people really wouldn’t dare to do such a thing.
But Amberser said with indifference, “Serious cri my ass, the Alchemist Council itself used to sell fake potions. Besides, the Alchemist Council is gone now, and we’re not selling fake potions, isn’t it reasonable to sell a refined formula for a higher price?”
When the economy collapsed, Alchemy City itself sold diluted potions in place of the real thing, disregarding any law. In any world, this situation is not uncommon.
Isabel said awkwardly, “Teacher, the Alchemist Council seems to have been reestablished.”
“Ah? What did you say?” asked Amberser in surprise.
Isabel quickly took out an invitation letter and handed it to Amberser, explaining, “This is an invitation from the newly established Alchemist Council, take a look.”
Amberser opened the envelope which contained so polite words, followed by an invitation to Isabel to attend a ceremony for the re-establishnt of the Alchemist Council in a month’s ti.
The process felt familiar; the Alchemist Council had invited Amberser during its first establishnt as well, and even the polite words used were exactly the sa—it seed they had just copied the old version and changed the na before sending it out.
Isabel had created a new type of Youth Magic Potion, and although it was temporary, the invention of a new potion warranted this invitation.
What caught Amberser’s attention the most was the signature at the end of the letter—Gustavo Flint.
“That old fart, he’s still not dead?” Amberser said, regretfully.
“Teacher, the ceremony is in three days, will you attend?” Isabel inquired.
Amberser casually tossed the letter aside and said, “It’s not addressed to , why should I go?”
“But…”
Isabel was anxious to say that she didn’t dare to go.
This was the Alchemist Council, and Master Flint was a Legendary Alchemist. In the recent days, she had been reading the works of this master, to her, he was an untouchable figure.
She had just been lucky, encountering a special material that enabled her to create a new potion. Isabel didn’t think it was due to her own ability at all; given to any other alchemist, they would probably have created it faster and better.
Wasn’t it Amberser who just by glancing at the formula ca up with an improved version? Isabel felt that she was still an apprentice and had no right to participate in such a high-profile event.
So Isabel had originally not wanted to embarrass herself, to avoid being unable to respond during an exchange with other alchemists at the event.
But then Amberser had suddenly returned, and Isabel hoped he could bring her along to see the world.
“Teacher, this is the Alchemist Council; shouldn’t a master like you join and beco a mber?” Isabel admired Amberser imnsely; she believed he was no different from those Legendary Alchemists.
Amberser, however, responded disdainfully, “What are you thinking? The forr president personally invited , and I refused. What’s this Gustavo Flint? He joined forces with Laine to tear down my castle, and I haven’t even settled that score with him…”
As Amberser spoke, he suddenly stood up, his tone firm, “Oh, you reminded , it’s about ti to settle that account.”
A rotten boat still has three pounds of nails, after all, Gustavo Flint had once been quite wealthy, so there might still be sothing to squeeze out of him.
