The Jade Emperor spoke in a grave voice, aware that whether or not it was the work of the Buddhist Sect, this forceful thod of enlightennt posed a significant problem in restraining the Heavenly Soldiers and Generals.

If it could not be resolved, it would be laying the groundwork for future disaster.

Now, faced with the fiercely advancing Buddhist Sect, the Jade Emperor no longer had the capacity to deal with the matters of Luzhou in the North; after all, Dongsheng Shenzhou and the Southern Continent were his fundantal strongholds.

The Buddhist Sect had already slowly extended its reach, and if he ignored it, it might not be long before his position existed in na only.

Master Zhang and Yin Qi secretly breathed a sigh of relief, slowly backing out of the Lingxiao Treasured Palace.

They had expected to face a thunderous wrath, but they did not anticipate the Jade Emperor would dismiss them so casually.

"His Majesty’s thoughts are truly..." Master Zhang shook his head and sighed.

Just this composure alone is remarkable; no wonder he was able to stand out among the myriad contenders and secure his position as the Master of the Three Realms.

Yin Qi also wore a look of admiration. He rembered when he first received the news, it had felt like a bolt from the blue, and it took him a long ti to recover his wits, yet His Majesty appeared calm and tranquil.

After they left, only the Divine Exorcist Great Sage and the Jade Emperor remained in the Lingxiao Treasured Palace.

"Who do you think is responsible?" the Jade Emperor asked with a hint of a headache.

"Who took action is no longer important, what matters is that this thod of enlightennt can shake the very foundation of the Heavenly Court," said the Divine Exorcist Great Sage coldly.

The Jade Emperor fell silent, knowing full well the truth in what the Divine Exorcist Great Sage had said; regardless of whether it was initiated by the Buddhist Sect, the tactic itself originated from them.

And yet, the Buddhist Sect had always been extrely secretive about the effectiveness of this thod, and had it not been for this incident, the Heavenly Court might have been caught off guard.

"Actually, we should be thankful to this individual; their intervention has revealed the formidable nature of this tactic. We must urgently find a way to counter it," the Jade Emperor said in a low voice.

At the sa ti, he inwardly sighed; the Buddhist Sect indeed lived up to its reputation as one of the top forces in the Three Realms, with almost no weakness, leaving him feeling at a loss on how to proceed.

This was the greatest challenge of his life. The Jade Emperor’s face darkened as he gently touched the armrest of his throne, a position he had fought so hard to win. He was determined not to surrender it easily.

A sharp glint flashed in his eyes.

Many in the Three Realms seed to have forgotten that the Jade Emperor had also erged from mountains of corpses and seas of blood to claim his position.

In Luzhou in the North, Lin Fang and Feng Jiu continued their journey, this ti to gather all those from the Demon Court remaining on the Earth.

As they passed through a forest, they ca upon a dilapidated village. Old houses were scattered across the land, encircled by a fence.

An elderly blind man sat forlornly on the green stone at the entrance to the village, silently puffing on his pipe, the smoke drifting languidly from his mouth into the air.

Yet anyone who saw him could tell that the old man’s life was nearing its end. The years had drained his vitality, and even as a mber of the Demon Clan, he could not escape the fate of death. Only Immortals and Demon Kings could evade the bonds of life and death, enduring forever in this world.

However, not long ago, he had not been like this. Back then, the old man was full of enthusiasm, awaiting the day glory would descend upon him.

But ever since that magnificent figure had dissolved into endless points of light between Heaven and Earth, his heart had died as well.

He had held his post here for countless years, enduring ridicule and scorn from his own people, waiting for the Emperor’s return. Yet, to this day, it had all beco an illusion.

His Majesty had died, and with his passing, his own steadfastness had lost its aning. In such a ntal state, his body began to age rapidly. Now, he was on his deathbed.

"Dad!" A robust monster slowly approached the entrance of the village and gently called out, looking at the old man’s aged face.

The elder turned his head, and a flicker seed to flash through his hollow eyes before he asked weakly, "What is it?"

"It’s ti to eat, you haven’t eaten in several days," the strong monster said with concern.

"No need, I have no appetite. It seems my ti has co," sighed the old man faintly.

"Dad, you’re just too heartbroken, you’ll feel better once your mood improves," the son began to comfort the elder.

The old man, however, chuckled softly and said, "These days, I’ve been dreaming of those fallen comrades of mine. They appear just as they once were, full of life and joking and laughing with . It seems the day for to join them is near."

After saying this, the old man gently caressed his son’s cheek with his aged hand and smiled kindly, "Have you ever blad your dad throughout all these years?"

"Had it not been for , you could have experienced a far broader world instead of wasting your life in this small village."

"Dad, I understand. You’ve been waiting for that Sovereign to return, waiting for him to lead us to glory," the son replied.

"Yes, I’ve been waiting for him. Only he could have enabled you to have a good life. Unfortunately, it was all a pipe dream; His Majesty ultimately perished," the old man lanted.

"After I’m gone, take our people and leave this place. There’s no point in holding on any longer," he sighed quietly.

His son was already in tears; the shattered hope had extinguished any desire his father had left to live, the hope that had been his father’s life-long persistence and ideal.

"Don’t cry. I’m just going to join my comrades and His Majesty. Perhaps this is the best outco for ."

As the two were conversing, a series of footsteps could be heard nearby.

The young monster suddenly lifted his head, his eyes sharply scanning the surroundings, like a leopard hidden in the mountains.

"Who’s there!"

As the words fell, two figures slowly erged from the forest. One was clad in green, with a handso appearance, while the other wore a purple robe and a golden mask on his face, exuding an air of dignity.

"Who are you?" the young monster asked warily. They had stood guard here for countless years, and they hadn’t seen any other monsters set foot in this desolate land, apart from those with ill-intentions.

"Yu Nian, I’ve returned!" ca Feng Jiu’s androgynous voice unexpectedly.

The old man, originally downtrodden, suddenly lifted his head in disbelief, looking toward the figures in front of him. His eyes were blind, and he couldn’t see the people before him.

But still struggling to get closer, he asked in disbelief, "Your Majesty, is it you?"

"It’s !" said Feng Jiu softly.

In that mont, the strong old man could no longer hold back, and he fell to his knees, crying bitterly.

"So many years, so many years, you’ve finally returned, you’ve finally co back!" His voice was full of elation.
