Is the Shrine rejecting Magong Yongshi?

Beichuan Si, trembling violently, led Magong Yongshi out of the Divine Wood Forest and asked, "What do you an the Shrine is rejecting you?"

As soon as they left the Divine Wood Forest, the color returned to Magong Yongshi’s face, and she said weakly,

"It ans exactly what it sounds like. I don’t know why, but the closer I get to the Shenzhu Shrine, the more my Spiritual Body fails to maintain itself. If I had gone any further, it might have collapsed."

Beichuan Si glanced at Nishijou Kurenai.

Nishijou Kurenai nodded at him.

Magong Yongshi was not lying.

But likewise, from Magong Yongshi’s reaction, Beichuan Si could tell that the Shenzhu Shrine was nearby.

Either within the Divine Wood Forest or beyond it.

Returning now would feel sowhat unfinished.

Thinking this, Beichuan Si hesitated no more, turned back to Magong Yongshi, and said,

"Miss Yongshi, you should go back to the Magong Family."

Magong Yongshi fell silent.

But soon she nodded, "I understand, Mr. Temple. I wish you great fortune in battle."

Having been intelligent since childhood, Magong Yongshi understood that as a good spirit, it was not wise for her to stay in the perilous Shenzhu Mountain. Following Beichuan Si would only slow him down and beco a burden.

"Alright. I’m just going up to take a look." Beichuan Si nodded decisively, bidding farewell to Magong Yongshi, and returned to explore deeper into the Divine Wood Forest.

Standing again at the entrance of the small path of the Divine Wood Forest, feeling the increasingly fierce cold wind, Beichuan Si wrapped his clothes tighter around him and walked deeper into the forest.

The path through the Divine Wood Forest should have been long abandoned, yet unexpectedly, it was clean on both sides. No weeds grew, and the neatly laid stone bricks were just covered with green moss, slippery and wet as he stepped on it.

Continuing inward, Beichuan Si soon discovered a faint trace of resentnt on the other side of the road.

"What is that...?" Beichuan Si was very familiar with this kind of resentnt.

Objects of the lingering mories or remnants left by resentful spirits would leave behind this thin, black misty resentnt.

Following this thread of resentnt, Beichuan Si left the path and went to the other side of Shenzhu Mountain.

From here, the first waterfall of Yellow Springs was right beneath his feet, and the object entwined with the black resentnt also fell into the hands of Beichuan Si.

It was a tattered note.

The note seed to have been here for a long ti, but due to the protection of the resentnt, it was relatively well preserved.

Beichuan Si looked at the characters on it.

It read,

"Spiritual realm, Shenzhu Mountain."

"The so-called spiritual realm, to be understood literally, connects the resentful spirits to the Yellow Springs. According to ancient records from Shimadu City and accounts of survivors’ descendants, I have visited this place several tis."

"I was discovered by Shenzhu villagers on a few occasions as an outsider and was nearly injured by their thallium knives."

"Legend has it that Shenzhu Mountain, as a spiritual realm, is an excellent place for the Shrine to worship faith, and likewise, as a spiritual realm, countless people have been shinobu here, their bodies never to be found."

"Those who harbor thoughts of death rely need to step into the mountain to be shinobu by Evil Spirits, trapped forever in the hidden world."

"Why... do I keep investigating here? Despite such threats."

"I’ve long forgotten the reason."

"Was it deeply attracted by the folk culture of Shenzhu Village?"

"Or simply to satisfy my curiosity?"

"No... it was for... for her..."

"But... that mountain... it’s drawing closer. I couldn’t stay away..."

The neat handwriting beca blurred towards the end.

"Is this...?"

Beichuan Si repeatedly flipped through the torn page of the diary investigation, his heart slightly twitching.

"Could this be the record left by Mr. Kikuchi Yu back then?"

The lower right corner of the Folklife News always had the author’s signature.

And the person who wrote the article about Shenzhu Village was Kikuchi Yu.

It seed that Mr. Kikuchi Yu had been threatened by the Magong Family back then, probably because soone specifically ca looking for him after the report was written, right?

"No wonder the reports on Shenzhu Village ended just like that."

There were deep reasons for this.

But since a part of the diary investigation was left here, that also ant there might be other things nearby...

Cold death swirled in Beichuan Si’s eyes.

With death aiding his vision, the whole world seed to change color.

In this state, Beichuan Si clearly saw another strand of black resentnt.

Following the resentnt, Beichuan Si arrived deep into the dense forest.

On the grass in front of him lay neatly a piece of paper protected by resentnt.

Beichuan Si picked it up.

Familiar neat handwriting entered his sight.

"It really is the second part of the diary investigation!" A glint of light passed through Beichuan Si’s dark eyes as he hurriedly unfolded it and read:

"Spiritual realm, Shenzhu Mountain (Part 2)."

"Shenzhu Mountain is a connector to Yellow Springs, which I have confird."

"I have been at Shenzhu Mountain for three days now. My food supply is almost gone, and it seems the people in the Shrine have already noticed ."

"Perhaps I’ll be discovered tomorrow? But none of those things matter anymore."

"Here I have seen my wife who passed away... that is enough for ."

"Hezi... I have sothing I must tell you no matter what... I have given everything for it, but I have no regrets."

"The mountain is calling , but I can’t hear it anymore."

"Because I have decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed decayed....."

The last few lines were written chaotically like a curse, the frantic handwriting no longer as clear as before.

Beichuan Si was intently reading when suddenly, he stepped back twice, a deathly aura surfaced, and his body forcefully thrust backward!

Bang!!!!!

A terrifying sound erupted, and Beichuan Si looked back.

A man, his body rotten and eyeballs hanging by the edge of his sockets, was looking at Beichuan Si with his unique ’vision.’

His chest caved in from Beichuan Si’s forceful blow, but even so, he stood there filled with resentnt.

"Kikuchi Yu."

Beichuan Si was expressionless.

The opponent’s creepy appearance and terrifying form did nothing to scare him.

He just looked at Kikuchi Yu’s miserable fate and shook his head.

After all, this was the person who initially provided him with the first clues about Shenzhu Village.

If possible, Beichuan Si wanted to provide him a painless deliverance.

Thinking this, Beichuan Si drew Jian Ding, seriously but with no expression stated:

"I want to help you."
