Capítulo 539: Chapter 343: Frog Tribe’s Choice
Southern Wilderness, Frog Tribe.
Ever since the Vine Tribe beca the overlord of the Northern South Wilderness, life in the Frog Tribe has improved significantly. Coupled with the abundance of food from planting and breeding, the Frog Tribe’s population has exceeded fifteen hundred people.
Of course, most of these people are wanderers that the Vine Tribe didn’t want. Although the quantity is large, the quality is relatively low, with all sorts of chaotic people among them.
Because of this, as the leader of the Frog Tribe, Huo ng’s managent pressure has increased trendously. Even with the Frog God’s suppression, these people occasionally cause trouble, giving him a major headache.
This spring, the Vine Tribe began preparations to enter the Southern Wilderness. Apart from the Mountain Turtle Tribe, which has already decided to migrate entirely, the other four affiliated tribes have all been notified.
However, since this is an expedition, the Vine Tribe did not force all the affiliated tribes to participate. They rely notified them, allowing those who wanted to join to do so, while not compelling those who didn’t want to go.
Because of this, aside from the Mountain Turtle Tribe, the Beaver Tribe, Giant Claw Tribe, and Stinging Fly Tribe all clearly stated that they would not go, as the journey is simply too far. With their capabilities, they dare not even think about pioneering in the central region.
But Huo ng was conflicted. The Frog Tribe reached where it is today because of its steadfast followership of the Vine Tribe. Now that the Vine Tribe was going even further, should they follow?
After much consideration, Huo ng still couldn’t make up his mind and had no choice but to seek out the Frog Tribe Witch to discuss it.
“Creak…”
Huo ng pushed open the stone house door where the Frog Tribe Witch lived and saw the old Frog Tribe Witch teaching a young girl how to draw a Witch Scroll.
The Frog Tribe Witch was already quite old. Although, with the arrival of the new Frog God, he had regained his witch power and his physical condition improved significantly, he would eventually succumb to the ravages of ti.
Thus, a few years ago, he had selected a young girl from the tribe as his successor and was painstakingly imparting his knowledge to her, hoping she could take his place and continue leading the tribe in the future.
When Huo ng entered, the Frog Tribe Witch glanced at him, gestured for him to wait, and continued teaching the young girl to draw the Witch Scroll.
Not until the Witch Scroll was completely drawn did the Frog Tribe Witch finally lift his head and smile.
“Lv Yi, you’ve drawn very well, much better than I did back in the day.”
The girl nad Lv Yi was delighted but remained humble, saying, “It’s all because of your good teaching, Witch.”
The Frog Tribe Witch smiled, patted her head, and told her to keep learning before turning to Huo ng.
“What does the chief need from ?”
The Frog Tribe Witch’s attitude towards Huo ng was sowhat indifferent. Since the Frog Tribe’s migration to the Vine Tribe’s region, most of the tribe’s power had fallen into Huo ng’s hands, rendering him more of a mascot.
Even though Jiang Xuan had found them a new Frog God and the Frog Tribe Witch regained his witch power, the tribe’s warriors still followed Huo ng’s commands, with the witch only taking primary importance during rituals.
Although the Frog Tribe Witch never voiced his discontent, it was clear he was unhappy. However, due to his old age, he was uninterested in vying for power any further.
Huo ng was also well aware of the Frog Tribe Witch’s displeasure with him, but he couldn’t concern himself with such matters now. No matter what conflicts there were between the two, the tribe’s survival was more crucial.
“Witch, I’ve co to seek your guidance on whether our Frog Tribe should send people to the central part of the Southern Wilderness along with the Vine Tribe. I believe this matter could determine whether the Frog Tribe can continue to grow in the future.”
After hearing Huo ng’s words, the Frog Tribe Witch finally beca serious. After all, it concerned the tribe’s future, and as the Witch, he couldn’t ignore it due to personal animosities.
The Frog Tribe Witch sat on a chair bought from the Vine Tribe Trading Area and motioned for Huo ng to sit on another chair.
Afterward, the Frog Tribe Witch slowly spoke: “Since the chief ca to , you must already have so ideas in mind? Why don’t you tell your thoughts first?”
After pondering for a mont, Huo ng said, “Our Frog Tribe has co this far entirely because of closely following the Vine Tribe’s lead. If we don’t follow this ti, we might be left behind in the future.”
The Frog Tribe Witch frowned slightly and said, “Do you believe the Vine Tribe can successfully establish a new territory in the central region? I’ve heard there are several large tribes there. Will they allow the Vine Tribe to gain a foothold?”
The Vine Tribe’s fleet brought back much news from the central region, including the presence of several large tribes there, which the Frog Tribe Witch had naturally heard of.
These large tribes were established longer ago than the Vine Tribe and are very powerful. The Frog Tribe Witch didn’t believe the Vine Tribe could easily occupy new land there.
Huo ng said, “In the past, no one believed the Vine Tribe could rise by defeating so many strong tribes, yet here we are. They’ve beco the only major tribe in the north. Who’s to say they won’t succeed again this ti?”
“Also, I’ve heard the Mountain Turtle Tribe has already decided to migrate entirely. For them to make such a major decision to battle alongside the Vine Tribe in the central region, they must have so assurance.”
The Frog Tribe Witch fell silent. When the Vine Tribe faced strong enemies before, he was also skeptical and even considered letting the Frog Tribe break away during such tis. But due to Huo ng’s insistence, the Frog Tribe stayed and indeed won the gamble.
Now, he still didn’t believe the Vine Tribe could establish itself in the central Southern Wilderness. What choice should be made this ti?
After thinking for a long while, he finally looked toward the young girl nad Lv Yi, his successor whom he had grood for many years.
“Lv Yi, co over here.”
The Frog Tribe Witch beckoned, and the young girl Lv Yi imdiately ca to his side.
“You heard our conversation earlier, right? I’m already old, and my mind can’t keep up with the tis. You are the next Witch of the Frog Tribe; tell your opinions.”
Lv Yi hesitated: “Such a big matter, can I… am I up to it?”
The Frog Tribe Witch encouraged: “Don’t be afraid. These matters are what you will eventually face, so be bold. Even if you say sothing wrong, it’s no big deal.”
Lv Yi finally nodded, thought carefully for a mont, and then mustered the courage to speak: “I think we should go with the Vine Tribe.”
Huo ng’s eyes lit up, while the always cautious Frog Tribe Witch frowned slightly, but he still encouraged her: “Tell us your reasons.”
Lv Yi said, “I think the chief is right. Our Frog Tribe has developed so quickly because we’ve always supported the Vine Tribe, gaining their trust and benefits more than other affiliated tribes.”
“If we don’t go this ti, the Vine Tribe’s trust in us will weaken, and the next ti sothing good happens, they might not include us like before.”
The Frog Tribe Witch nodded and then raised a question: “What you say makes sense, but what if we lose so of our powerful warriors we’ve managed to train if we send them to the central Southern Wilderness?”
Lv Yi cunningly blinked, “Who says we have to send our best warriors? We’re just expressing a firm supportive stance toward the Vine Tribe.”
“Lately, hasn’t the chief been troubled by those causing disturbances in the tribe? Why not send all of them to the central region? If the Vine Tribe wins, they’ll have made great contributions. If the Vine Tribe loses, it wouldn’t be a loss if they perish.”
The Frog Tribe Witch’s eyes lit up, and a satisfied smile gradually appeared on his face. He patted Lv Yi’s shoulder, saying nothing but showing admiration in his eyes.
Huo ng’s eyes also brightened, thinking the idea was quite good, but he posed another question: “What if they refuse to go?”
Lv Yi said, “If they refuse, they’ll be disobeying the tribe’s orders. We can ask the Frog God to take back the power of totems from them and expel them from the tribe. There will be no loss either way.”
Huo ng slapped his thigh, “Right! Why didn’t I think of that? Lv Yi is right; let’s do it this way!”
The Frog Tribe Witch laughed heartily, “Hahaha… I’ll leave the rest to the chief. Lv Yi, co, let’s continue learning how to draw the Witch Scroll. There were so parts you didn’t draw ticulously enough.”
“Yes.”
Lv Yi resud her seat at the table, spreading out a new beast skin scroll.
The Frog Tribe Witch was very pleased with his successor and was even more attentive when imparting knowledge, giving her everything he had.
Huo ng also got the answer he wanted. After bidding farewell to the Witch and Lv Yi, he imdiately went to the tribe to gather those who usually caused trouble.
A few days later, the Frog Tribe announced that they would send so of their mbers to follow the Vine Tribe to the central Southern Wilderness, expressing their loyal support and determination to keep pace with the Vine Tribe.
The Vine Tribe naturally welcod this and fully affird the Frog Tribe’s loyalty. Both sides were very pleased.
