Capítulo 524: Chapter 328: Learn in Practice

“Do you want to go?”

Chi Shao looked at the young girl who stepped forward in surprise.

The girl seed resolute, nodding firmly, “Yes.”

Her na was Ze Lan, one of the earliest groups of wanderers to join the Vine Tribe. She was young before, without much presence, but now at sixteen, she felt she should contribute sothing to the tribe.

Honestly speaking, Ze Lan wasn’t the best candidate, since her dical skills were among the lowest of the witch doctors, and she was still young and inexperienced. Everyone doubted her ability to be the Witch for a small tribe.

However, she was the only one brave enough to step forward, and based on voluntarism, she was the inevitable choice to go to the Rat Tribe and serve as the Witch.

Even so, Chi Shao’s face remained serious as she spoke, “Being the Witch at the Rat Tribe will be difficult, very difficult, and if you’re not careful, it could be life-threatening. Are you really ready?”

Ze Lan gathered her courage and looked straight at Chi Shao, “Witch, people of the Vine Tribe are not afraid of death!”

“Good!”

Chi Shao showed a look of admiration, which was rare for her temperant.

“Is there anyone else willing to go?”

Chi Shao scanned the other witch doctors, hoping soone more capable would step forward.

She was disappointed.

Except for Ze Lan, all the witch doctors lowered their heads. Regardless of the reason, they were unwilling to leave the prosperous and powerful Vine Tribe.

It is said that it’s easy to move from frugality to luxury, but difficult from luxury to frugality. When a crisis hits the tribe, they may not lack the courage to fight desperately. But now, they no longer want to live days of deprivation and hunger.

“Alright, Ze Lan stays; the rest can go back.”

Chi Shao waved her hand. The witch doctors left one by one, breathing a sigh of relief as they exited, but feeling sowhat ashad, their emotions very complex.

When only Chi Shao and Ze Lan remained in the yard, Chi Shao took a deep breath and said, “Since you’ve decided to go, follow for the next ten days. I will teach you as much as possible about being a Witch.”

“After ten days, you will set off with the fleet heading to the Central South Wilderness. By then, no matter what you face, you’ll have to rely on yourself. Do you understand?”

Ze Lan nodded, “Witch, I will not let the tribe down.”

“Good, let’s walk around the tribe first.”

Chi Shao, being decisive and responsible, wanted Ze Lan to familiarize herself with the tribe’s operations and teach her how to solve problems since she was to be the Witch of the Rat Tribe.

The two left the yard and walked around the tribe.

Ten days passed quickly; during this ti, Chi Shao dedicated almost all her efforts to teaching Ze Lan.

Even activities like making witch dicine and drawing witch scrolls were done alongside Ze Lan.

She let Ze Lan personally handle various tribal affairs, helping her quickly adapt to the role of Witch.

“Ten days is still too short; there’s limited learning one can do, but there’s no more ti to continue your training.”

By Feiyu River, Chi Shao stood with Ze Lan next to a large ship docked nearby, still looking concerned.

“The leader once told ‘learn through practice’, now you will have to serve as the Witch while teaching yourself.”

“Witch…”

Ze Lan’s eyes brimd with tears. Though she had no regrets, the thought of leaving the tribe with rare chances of returning made tears uncontrollably stream down.

Chi Shao gently patted her back to comfort her, “Rember, if you run into trouble there, head to the Vine God’s side first; Vine God will protect you.”

Ze Lan nodded firmly.

“Alright, it’s ti to go. Take this package with you; you’ll need it there.”

Chi Shao handed Ze Lan a large bag resembling luggage filled with copious amounts of witch dicine, knife coins, witchcraft scrolls, daily necessities, and clothes.

Ze Lan clutched the heavy package to her chest, knowing it contained valuable items; even the beast hide luggage bag was the latest product from the clothing workshop, worth many knife coins in the trading area.

“Go on, go on, there will definitely be opportunities to co back in the future.”

Chi Shao waved, signaling Ze Lan to board the ship.

Ze Lan ascended the ship, constantly looking back at the Vine Tribe. She wanted to imprint everything deeply in her mind.

“Witch, we are departing!”

Jing Jie, the fleet leader, respectfully knelt on one knee before Chi Shao.

Chi Shao traced a totem pattern in the air above his head, “May Vine God bless your safe return.”

“Thank you for the Witch’s blessing.”

Jing Jie stood up, swiftly boarded the ship, and shouted, “Raise anchor!”

“Woo… woo…”

Sailors promptly blew the horn, soon after, all ships began retrieving the anchors from the front and back, the sound of chains clattering unceasingly.

“Hoist sails, set sail!”

Jing Jie shouted again, and the crew quickly pulled the ropes, hoisting the sails.

With the wind and water’s propulsion, one large ship after another started downstream.

On deck, Ze Lan kept waving towards Chi Shao onshore, until the ship sailed far enough that Chi Shao and the Vine Tribe were no longer visible.

She slid to the deck along the railing, her tears no longer flowing, but her eyes were still red.

Jing Jie ca over to console her, “Don’t be afraid, it won’t be long before our fleet reaches the central area, by then you’ll often see people from the Vine Tribe and be able to use various goods from the tribe.”

“Really?”

“Of course, our Vine Tribe rchandise is already being sold to the Crocodile Tribe in the central area; it’s just a matter of ti before it reaches the Rat Tribe.”

“That’s great news.”

Ze Lan, naturally brave, felt her spirits lift upon hearing this, even beginning to imagine encounters with Vine Tribe people in the future.

The ship continued forward, Jing Jie sat beside Ze Lan, vividly narrating the fleet’s fresh experiences at various places, making Ze Lan feel thoroughly enlightened.

Thus, Ze Lan traveled with the fleet, passing through many tribes along the way, witnessing firsthand the profits gained from the Vine Tribe’s trade with other tribes.

A month later, the fleet finally arrived at the Crocodile Tribe.

The Vine Tribe fleet had beco sowhat famous within the Crocodile Tribe and its surrounding tribes, receiving a warm welco upon arrival.

Ze Lan stayed with the Crocodile Tribe for so days before being taken to the Rat Tribe by Jiang Xuan who rode Tang Yuan.

The Rat Tribe had drastically changed by this ti when compared to the past.

With guidance from a Warrior of the breeding team and a Warrior of the planting team brought by Jiang Xuan, they reclaid large tracts of wasteland for growing various crops and vegetables, while establishing several livestock pens to start training the young animals of the central area.

Although still relatively weak overall, with the Vine God’s and Ape Tribe’s care, the Rat Tribe was no longer frequently attacked by other tribes, even showing a flourishing atmosphere.

Upon arriving at the Rat Tribe, Ze Lan was imdiately appointed as the Rat Tribe’s Witch by Jiang Xuan.

Although Rat Tribe mbers showed skepticism towards this young girl, they dared not openly defy the new Witch’s orders with Vine God and Jiang Xuan around.

Within the newly built house, Jiang Xuan patted Ze Lan’s shoulder, “Prestige isn’t built in a day. Use what you’ve learned to help the Rat Tribe as much as possible, you will beco a respected Witch one day.”

Ze Lan responded determinedly, “I’ll work hard not to disappoint the leader.”

“Good, I’ll be here for a while, if you face unsolvable problems, co to .”

“Thank you, Leader…”

After conversing for a while, Jiang Xuan left the house.

Ze Lan took a deep breath, then summoned Rat Tribe Chief Hui Shu to first understand the situation of the Rat Tribe, and then decide her direction of effort.
