Chapter 56: The Hunted beca the Hunter

Lu Xuan knew almost imdiately that it was the feat of awakened ntal powers from one of the Awakened.

Being able to affect him even for a re mont ant that the one who was there was a formidable one as well. Such a figure would be at least level six, which, in turn, ant that it was yet another martial arts legend.

Anyone who was lower than level six would not have even gotten the chance to affect him at all, to begin with.

A pair of eyes seed startled sowhere in the dark. Despite being the one with the elent of surprise, that figure had only been able to montarily affect the target’s senses.

It was sothing that the assailant had not encountered since he had awakened such supernatural abilities.

He was formidable enough to hypnotize even the likes of level five Baodan Grandmasters with just a single look. Not even level six martial arts legends would have been able to shrug off his illusions without breaking a sweat.

He was, too, a level sixer, after all, and his massive ntal Strength had always been his greatest weapon.

However, the assailant quickly realized that Lu Xuan was now turning his gaze in his direction. The assailant was instantly frightened, as that spoke of one terrifying truth—Lu Xuan was able to detect his presence.

It was a level of ntal Strength and perception like none other.

Knowing that his cover was blown entirely, he opted to just show himself right away.

The middle-aged man was dressed in traditional Chinese garb. He had an unassuming expression on his face. One would have taken him for an ordinary man based on his appearance alone.

However, in Lu Xuan’s senses, that man’s ntal Strength stood out like a lantern in the dark.

He was several tis more powerful than Luo Yongnian, who was of the sa level. That man was extrely frightening.

Luo Yongnian was a warrior while that middle-aged man was but an Awakened who had awakened a level of ntal powers. Both figures evolved in different directions, and the difference was quite normal.

But then again, be it a warrior who specialized in honing his physical feats, or an Awakened who had awakened his ntal powers, there was no doubt that both n were so of the most terrifying people in the world at the mont.

To common folks, those two were like gods among n.

Lu Xuan, however, remained completely unfazed despite facing two level six martial arts legends at the mont.

“I didn’t expect you to go that far just to kill . You both are considered the best of the best, for the ti being.” Lu Xuan smirked in amusent as he spoke.

“Although we have no idea who your teachers are, you will certainly die from getting on the Luo Clan’s bad side.”

Luo Yongnian looked at Lu Xuan and spoke every single word with confident might.

“I’ve looked into your info and thought you were only a common man. It certainly surprises that you’re actually a hidden dragon. But no matter, for I’ll be slaying a dragon today.”

“Hahahahaha… Slaying dragons, eh? Luo Yongnian, I’m afraid you’ve overestimated your abilities. What makes you think that you’ll be able to kill ?” Lu Xuan laughed as he touched his forehead with his hand.

“Is that so? You think you can look down on everyone because you’re good? To , it seems like you know nothing of the saying, ‘tall trees in the woods are sure to get their tops blown off.’ You’re still too young, indeed,” Luo Yongnian said plainly.

“That depends on how capable the winds are, I guess. A breeze that cos with a drizzle will do little more than provide nourishnt, not breaking said trees instead,” Lu Xuan replied in an unfazed manner.

Tall trees in the woods were sure to get their tops blown off. However, if said trees were strong enough, the winds would have no effect on them. Instead, any storm would only end up making said trees stronger.

That was how it was with him back in his past life. No storm had proven strong enough to break a tree like him, and all such adversities had only propelled him to the clouds.

Both n seed to have been doing nothing much but talking, yet the words at play were statents of their martial resolve. Given how both n were resolute, a competition of wills at such levels was unable to bend either of them.

“You guys might think that you’ve laid traps all over the place to get , but you’ve made one mistake—I am the one who will take such opportunities to kill you people instead.”

Lu Xuan smirked plainly. He knew that the Luo Clan was still the Luo Clan. It was utterly ridiculous to think that one such ferocious clan would simply let up just like that.

But then again, despite knowing where the ancestral ho of the clan was located, there was no way he could have crashed into their place and wreaked havoc. It would have done more than just shake the foundations of the clan.

The effects would have rippled and affected the entire nation.

The Luo Clan had been so developed throughout the years that its influence spread throughout the whole world. That was why Lu Xuan dared not to just go up and shake the Luo Clan down.

He was indifferent to what would have happened to him, as he could simply escape after killing those people. However, his family and friends would have ended up taking the fall for him.

He was ntally transcendental, and nothing was able to hold him down. However, given that he was still of a mortal body, he was compelled to make certain mundane compromises.

The day where he would grow formidable enough to suppress any forces that dared go against him was the day that would have spelled doom for the Luo Clan once and for all.

Given how spirit qi was just beginning to be restored to the world and changes all over the world had just begun, the Luo Clan was, at the mont, far less powerful than it had been back in his past life. The difficulty of uprooting the Luo Clan altogether in that life would have been far lower than in his past life.

But then again, Lu Xuan saw no point to just bear with it all for the ti being. He was compelled to kill several important figures, taking their heads as an interest to a long term paynt.

Doing so would have allowed him to continuously weaken the clan’s powers, laying the foundations for the eventual attempt of uprooting the clan once and for all.

He was still not powerful enough at the mont, and he needed to grow further, getting to heights so high that everyone in the world would have to think twice before taking him on. He would make himself into a one-man-sect, aning growing powerful enough to take on armies all on his own.

“You b*stard are quite a snake indeed.”

Luo Yongnian’s eyes burst with terrifying killing intent after hearing what Lu Xuan said.

It was just as Luo Ying speculated; that b*sard did not fear the Luo Clan in the slightest and had instead been thinking of ways to take on the clan.

If he were to truly be allowed to succeed, he alone would, in ti, be able to deal a crushing blow on the clan. Despite having hired massive scores of masters, none of them would have been able to hold a candle against one such terrifying martial arts legend if he were allowed to reach such heights.

That was because no one knew of how terrifying martial arts legends could be than martial arts legends themselves.

“You won’t get the chance to do so, though, for you won’t be walking out alive today.”

A dagger erged out of nowhere right after Luo Yongnian finished saying that, heading straight for Lu Xuan’s neck.

The dagger had a bluish-green sheen on it, a sign that it was poisoned. One gash would have been enough to kill an elephant.

A sinister grin appeared on Luo Yongnian’s face. He and Lu Xuan had been trading words all that ti just to set up that very instant.

It was only then that a human-like silhouette appeared vaguely before Lu Xuan’s eyes.

What happened next rendered the hidden assailant astonished. Lu Xuan had the dagger between two of his fingers.

That dagger, which had been sharp and tough enough to break stone effortlessly, was completely stuck, unable to move even an inch.

That person who had been lurking all along realized that the tables were turned against him right away, causing him to want to run imdiately.

It seed as if one missed hit would force him to back away thousands of miles.
