Chapter 138: Gods on Earth

Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

All of that had happened far too quickly, so much so that it seed there was no way anyone could have expected such sudden changes to take place at all.

That thrust of the sword by Lu Xuan looked like so godly move pulled by a superhuman being, and that one thrust killed Song Lingfeng, who had been behaving as if he owned the place re monts ago.

Lu Xuan turned to look at the crowd with plain, indifferent eyes, as if he was telling them that there was no turning the tables with him.

The notion was ridiculous.

The old guy had been thinking too much.

The place was dead silent then. To put it precisely, no one in the crowd expected either of them to survive such a crazy bombardnt, yet not only had Song Lingfeng survived, but Lu Xuan had managed to do so as well.

Furthermore, compared to Song Lingfeng, who looked rather haggard and damaged, Lu Xuan had erged totally unscathed. From head to toe, he was so clean that it seed as if the airstrike had never even happened.

“Just... what... the hell is going on here?”

Everyone was shocked, wondering just how Lu Xuan had managed to pull all of that. Not even a Shield of Vigor at Deity level would have enabled him to stop all those attacks without suffering so much as a single scratch.

It was worth noting that the shockwave from such a crazy bombardnt alone might have proven enough to shake people up so severely that the flesh would be torn from their bones.

No one knew just how Lu Xuan had managed to erge unscathed.

Everyone was utterly baffled, wondering if he’d actually packed so kind of defensive power item on his person as well.

Defensive power items were, at the mont, the only ans available to cultivators to survive being bombarded by such heavy weapons.

Lin Sheng was the only one who managed to even partially guess how Lu Xuan had done it. He knew that Lu Xuan was capable of crafting protection talismans of durability so high that they could withstand gunshots. Even though a talisman would not be able to take more than a single shot, it was nonetheless more powerful than any other defensive item.

Lin Sheng had no idea that he’d actually guessed the answer correctly this ti. Lu Xuan had indeed managed to survive thanks to those protection talismans he’d packed.

That short period of bombardnt alone had cost him over 200 of the talismans.

Each one of those protection talismans was unable to withstand the force generated by the explosions for more than a millisecond.

However, being able to withstand the shocks even for very short periods had proven enough to keep him alive through the most dangerous monts of the attack. That, coupled with Lu Xuan’s own formidable Shield of Vigor, resulted in his miraculous survival and avoidance of any damage.

No one else would have been able to throw money away the way Lu Xuan had with that defense. Those 200 protection talismans would cost more than 20 million yuan for most people, after all.

Yet Lu Xuan burned through that amount of money in re monts.

Then again, the act could hardly be considered costly from his perspective. Despite the talismans’ exorbitant prices, it was not like he needed to do more than spend so ti crafting them, really.

Lu Xuan then drew a gun from his Coiling Dragon Ring while the crowd was still reeling from the shock, and he fired away seemingly without bothering to aim.

Bang!

That one shot he fired hit and blew up one of the helicopters in the air.

“What kind of a gun is that?” Everyone turned their eyes to Lu Xuan’s gun. None of them were total strangers to firearms, as there was no way anyone could know absolutely nothing about guns while living in the modern era.

Still, guns capable of blowing up a helicopter with a single shot were unheard of, and all who were present were wondering just what kind of a joke that was.

The power displayed right before their eyes made the gun look like a rocket launcher instead.

Lu Xuan continued firing away with a deadpan expression.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Lu Xuan fired several shots, and every single shot took down one helicopter in the air imdiately.

Explosions went off all over the place as the helicopters crashed, making things at the scene utterly terrifying.

Lu Xuan only put away his gun after he was done, thinking just how stupid his enemies had been to believe that he had no ans of making ranged attacks.

He had not just been sitting around doing nothing before the fight, after all. The gun he’d used was only a conventional firearm, sothing he’d gotten his hands on when he had been out to snuff the smugglers a while ago.

What was truly extraordinary were the rounds loaded into the gun.

If anyone could have seen the bullets the gun had fired, they would have seen that the rounds were covered with runes.

The runes were the key factor that massively amplified the force of the ammunition, enabling them to blow up a helicopter with only a single shot.

But Lu Xuan was not the one who had developed those runes in the first place. In actuality, it had been the work of the Special Task Force back in his past life, and the rounds had been developed specifically for taking on cultivators.

With the application of these runes specifically developed to be carved onto bullets and shells, conventional ammunition was turned into massively devastating weapons of destruction.

Conventionally speaking, that conventional ammunition would have hardly been of any use penetrating the Shields of Vigor of cultivators who had reached Martial Arts Legend levels or higher.

However, the developnt of such runic ammunition could blow the heads of Martial Arts Legends to pieces with just a single shot.

This was especially true when sharpshooters or marksn, or even godlike gun wielders, gained access to such weapons. Such people beca professionals capable of posing serious threats to cultivators.

Martial Arts Legends were nothing in comparison, as such weapons allowed one to shoot and kill even Deity level beings.

Lu Xuan had seen the heads blown off a great many Deity level fighters back in his past life.

That was the real reason why the Special Task Force was able to remain in control of them all, despite the massive ergence of cultivators.

A clan or sect with hundreds of cultivators was widely considered a huge organization, but the Special Task Force could easily rally and command thousands of gunn wielding such modified firearms.

Such fearso firepower allowed the Special Task Force to easily mow down any sect or clan in existence.

Any such group that dared to throw their weight around the Special Task Force was deed a threat to be razed without rcy.

The Special Task Force of Lu Xuan’s past life had truly combined science and cultivation in their endeavors, making full use of any advantage available to them.

It was sothing that Lu Xuan had picked up back then.

His knowledge of the supre path allowed him to have few problems infusing the rounds in his gun with such runes.

Not only was the rounds’ damage potential vastly amplified after the runes were carved onto them, but their range was also extended several tis over. No common person would be able even to see when the bullets hit anything, as the rounds’ performance far exceeded the capacity of their sight.

Lu Xuan, however, was a different story altogether, as his Delusion-breaker Eyes allowed him to see very, very far away.

He’d brought about devastating damage using just one gun.

“Isn’t this frightening, indeed! Just what kind of a gun is that? Is that sothing developed by the Special Task Force?” So were still so shocked by it all that the feeling could be clearly seen in their eyes. They’d caught wind of news that so within the Special Task Force were working to develop ways to combine runes with firearms, after all.

The cultivators had initially snickered at that idea, as no one believed that the Special Task Force could succeed, given how those two disciplines were of such vastly different fields.

However, what Lu Xuan had pulled had shown everyone that the Special Task Force had probably succeeded in their endeavor.

The Special Task Force was not alone in developing such ideas, as many forces overseas were doing the sa thing. Many of them were official governntal institutions or agencies.

As the world beca more and more restored with spirit qi, the threat posed to cultivators by firearms beca increasingly ager. As the cultivators beca more and more trained, the phenonon of cultivators who were impervious to conventional firearms beca increasingly commonplace.

While heavy weapons would still work on them, and the world still had the likes of nuclear weapons laying around, it was nonetheless unthinkable to use such destructive weapons to deal with people all the ti.

As such, it beca urgently imperative to develop ways of enhancing the power of existing weapons under such circumstances.

However, no one other than Lu Xuan had succeeded in such efforts so far.

“Mr. Lu has indeed ended the Song Clan single-handedly. His reputation for being soone capable of razing entire sects or clans all by himself holds true, after all.”

There were many who stared at Lu Xuan in the blizzard with their jaws dropping to the ground. It was as if they were staring at a god who had descended to the mortal plane instead of a mortal man.
