Capítulo 651: You’re Saying He’s Infected?!

Their words were swallowed by the crowd’s roars as the fight onstage grew even more brutal.

Nnenna was almost out of breath now. Sweat mixed with blood on her skin, her chest heaving as she struggled to stay standing. She thought of quitting, just for a second, but her pride refused to let her.

She had trained too long, fought too hard, and survived too much to simply give up now.

All her effort… all her progress… wasn’t it enough to match George? Why couldn’t she keep up?

No, she couldn’t accept that. Not yet. Not when her body still responded to her will.

Then suddenly…

“Nnenna.”

The Love System’s voice echoed in her mind, sharp and cold. It had been quiet all through the match, respecting her choice to rely on herself. But now, there was an urgency in its tone that made her heart skip.

“Sothing’s wrong.”

“Wh-what do you an, sothing’s wrong?” Nnenna asked between gasps, barely managing to dodge a fatal blow that could have shattered her ribs.

“Rember that energy we faced back at the cliffs?” the system suddenly asked.

“Yes, I rember,” Nnenna replied quickly, eyes darting to track George’s movents.

“I’m getting that sa energy… from him,” the system said.

“What?” Nnenna’s voice rose in disbelief, though only she could hear it. “What do you an? How is that even possible? George has nothing to do with that energy!”

“Indeed,” the system admitted calmly, “but rember what I said, any one can get infected by that energy if they let their guard down. It feeds on negative emotions, unresolved emotional or character weaknesses.”

“I understand,” Nnenna shot back, ducking a heavy kick, “but George is not a bad person! He wouldn’t reach that point.”

“Actually,” the system replied softly, “nobody has to be bad to get affected. Uncontrolled temporary weakness is enough. Maybe he wanted to win at all costs, maybe to prove sothing… maybe he’s angry, bitter, or under too much pressure. Any negative emotion that festers long enough can weaken a person’s ntal purity, and once that happens, the energy slips in and uses them.”

Nnenna’s steps faltered for a second as the explanation sank in. Her heart twisted painfully.

“So… you’re saying George is infected?” she asked quietly, still panting. “That this fight hasn’t even been fair?”

“Exactly.”

Nnenna’s eyes softened as she looked at him again. George, or whoever he had beco, was glaring at her like a stranger, his aura darker, heavier than she had ever felt before.

“He’s in trouble too,” she whispered under her breath, sympathy flickering across her face despite the blood and pain.

“It looks like the energy fueling him cos from that sa dark source we felt at the cliffs,” the system confird grimly.

“How do I help him?” Nnenna asked, dodging a punch that whistled past her ear.

“He has to be the one to resist the energy. You can’t help soone that doesn’t want to be helped,” the Love System said. If he cannot, you’ll have to do sothing yourself.” The last part was almost a whisper in her mind.

“You an, hurt him?” Nnenna’s voice shook.

“You don’t have a choice,” the System replied bluntly.

“No… this doesn’t make sense.” Nnenna shook her head as she rolled away from another strike. “George is a good person. Maybe he had a temporary weakness, yes. But winning this competition was never everything to him. I talked to him before the match started, he was fine. Sothing must have gone wrong, but not like this, not to the extent of possession by that energy.”

“Maybe I could talk to him,” she decided aloud, hoping she could reach the part of him that was still George.

“I think you should quit first,” the System advised. “Or at least let help you. You can’t find out more if you’re dead.”

“No. I’ll manage.” Nnenna forced herself to sound steady. “The fight has to be fair. Unless I’m certain he’s using outside help, I won’t cheat or quit.”

She planted her feet and called out, louder but not loud enough so the crowd could hear: “George—”

“What?” ca the cold answer.

“What’s wrong? Why are you doing this?” she asked, keeping her tone calm even as her ribs burned.

“Do I need a reason to do what I’m supposed to do?” ‘he’ shot back, voice like ice.

“No, I just want to understand,” Nnenna said, ignoring the rudeness, reaching for any sign of him beneath the blow.

“I’m trying to win. What does it look like?” ‘George’ mocked, scoffing. “Oh, I get it now. Are you finally realizing you’re not as good as you pretend to be? A fraud who always acts perfect. Always acting like you’re better than everyone else.”

“What?” Nnenna asked, confusion crossing her bruised face. “I don’t understand what you’re trying to say. I just want to know if sothing’s wrong with you. This isn’t your normal behavior, it’s not like you at all.” Her voice carried both worry and disbelief.

“How would you know my normal behavior?” ‘George’ scoffed. “It’s not like you’ve known as long as others in my life have. As long as Linda has.”

Nnenna froze. Linda?

“My relationship with him is ruined because of you, little Miss Perfect,” ‘George’ spat, venom dripping from every word.

“Relationship with him?” Nnenna repeated slowly, catching the slip. “You an her… Linda, right?”

“Stop trying to distract !” Linda, still disguised as George, snapped, realizing too late what she had revealed.

But Nnenna wouldn’t let it go. Her mind raced. “Since when do you bla for your relationship with Linda ending? In fact, before we even t, you already broke things off with her. That had nothing to do with !”

She pressed, trying to piece together the odd cracks she was hearing in “George’s” words, but instead of answering, he lunged again. His movents grew sharper, more violent, desperate even.

The sudden ferocity sent Nnenna staggering back.
