Chapter 70: Testing the Limits! (2)

"Hey, who is this? Where are-" Luis frantically fired his questions but the telepathic connection was cut from the other side. He tried to reestablish the telepathic connection but it was already blocked.

"What is wrong, moon elf lord?" Xagrien quickly ran to Luis’ side. He supported the back of the bearer without thinking twice.

His wide hand occupied the Luis’ lower back.

"Soone called out for help. A male." Luis explained in a daze, completely oblivious of the warmth that is occupying his back.

Maybe it was the protective instinct of the moon elf lord, his head is occupied by worry.

It was only a short connection but it was enough for him to feel the pure fright that the speaker was feeling.

This is the feeling of dread when your demise is just in front of you.

"Is there soone missing among the warriors? Probably soone young?" The moon elf lord asked Legland. At this ti, Xagrien finally retracted his hand.

The lord’s face was serious. "There were none, my lord. Before you ca here, the headcount was already checked and recorded. No warrior is missing."

Koniel also answered, "The sa is the case back in the boundary. Everyone that is listed to guard the boundary is present."

"Do you ever know a full-grown male who talks like a child?" Luis asked all his subordinates.

But they just shook their heads.

"Only soone crazy will act like that." Xagrien and his obnoxious mouth shot.

This instantly caught the moon elf lord’s attention, in a bad way.

Luis threw a side glare at this male god. "Hey."

Xagrien shut up and resud his stoic face. Like a cat who was scolded, remorseful but still full of pride.

"I don’t want to admit it but that makes sense, my lord," Oyn spoke. He doesn’t want to give credit to the male who is eyeing his lord like a pervert but he needs to voice it out to help Luis.

"Moon elves have long lives so they will have a long ti to mature. Even if they are called young, they must be 21 years old. That is not an age for moon elves to speak in a child’s way."

"That is true." Luis fell deep into contemplation. "Then you’re right this ti, Xagrien."

"I knew that moon elf lord," Xagrien answered matter of factly. Without a shred of humility at all.

Luis rolled his eyes and he fell into contemplation once again. Koniel, Legland and Olyn looked at the thoughtful face of their moon elf lord.

’Is it another sche by that damned mastermind?’ Luis rubbed his lower lip with his index finger.

"Will we continue the plan, my lord?" Legland asked.

"Wait," Luis raised his hand and closed his eyes.

The moon elf lord’s brain is working non-stop this ti.

’First of all, the telepathic connection was established to all that I consider as comrades that are in the Shane Greenwoods at this mont. It ans that it is both orcs and moon elves. I can sohow point out which are the orcs and moon elves by feeling the traces of energy left in their mind. Orcs have mana and moon elves have nature’s energy.’

Luis halted his train of thought and he tried to rember the energy that he touched in that painfully fleeting ti.

’It is reminiscent of nature’s energy but it has a thick trace of earth-attributed mana!’ Luis looked at Xagrien. Luis’ dark-green eyes t with Xagrien’s purple ones, the two of them captured each other with a long-lasting stare.

Luis doesn’t mind it this ti since his mind is wandering about the energy that he felt with this guy since they first t.

’No their cases are different. Xagrien has traces of pure mana in his body while this one doesn’t.’ The moon elf lord thought, as his thoughts about the crying man’s identity hit a wall.

Luis breathed a sigh. He can’t think of a reason behind it. It is useless to think about it more than this.

But the fact that the male managed to connect with him through telepathy ans that he should be a moon elf at least.

"We will proceed as planned."

Luis said in a firr tone. He doubts if what that crying male refers to is the attack that they will conduct.

Since the cry for help was done before they started their movents. It should be a different threat and to sound that desperate ans that the assailant is near the man.

This could also be a threat to them.

Legland bowed as a sign of accepting the order from Luis.

"Legland, you will be in charge of overseeing the entire battlefield. Koniel, priests should be ready at all tis to help the injured. Xagrien and Olyn. Co with . We need to scout the place for other potential threats."

Luis reasoned out. Although truthfully speaking, he initiated the scouting to look for that man who cried for his help. He can’t simply shake it off.

"Yes! My lord!" Olyn excitedly cried. Finally! A chance to show the moon elf lord his improved combat abilities!

"En," Xagrien just answered with a nod but his eyes reflected a myriad of things.

"En," Luis mimicked the male god and he rolled his eyes. Luis missed the slight curve in Xagrien’s lips.

How regrettable.

"My lord, if it’s scouting then, you might want to bring Rion with you," Legland suggested.

Luis responded positively and with that, the extermination of the unwanted guests in the Shane Greenwoods started.

~~

Few monts before the arrival of Luis. In the underground tunnel.

First who was busy painstakingly completing the magic circle looked. Suddenly fell to his knees as a sharp and biting pain assaulted his scarred chest.

"Why am I feeling this pain?!" He frustratedly used his hand to squeeze the chest that’s been hurting. It all started when he received this scar! It was just a burning pain at first, sothing that he can handle.

Who would have thought that a dull pain can reduce him into a pathetic state?

"That damn, Eight! All she needed to do was to stage my death and yet she dared to stab

with the pointy mouth of those failed test subjects!" First roared, his entire body was drenched with sweat.

The pain should be nothing to him if that is the only repercussion that he is suffering from.

"First! They are all bad people! You must return to your friends and they can help you!" A child-like voice is ringing inside his head. His original yellow-brown eyes partly beca silver on one side. It’s as if the two are battling against each other for dominance.

"Silence!" First shouted like a madman. He crouched on the ground and he let go of the chisel that he was using to carve the magic circle then he began banging his head on the ground.

"No! First! Don’t harm yourself! Uwuhuhu," the childish voice cried inside his head.

"Shut your mouth up! This is my body now! You don’t have a say about this!" First yells reverberate throughout the hidden underground tunnel.

This ti, it was silent with only a few muffled sobs remaining and his eyes finally returned to normal, yellow-brown irises.

First sighed. He is not sure the reason why the soul of the child remained intact even after 100 years of parasitizing this body.

"What a cursed life." First frustratedly tried to stand up to continue and accomplish the order of his Lord Isami.

At this ti, the top of the tunnel opened up because of magic and a tiny owl descended.

"You even have the guts to co here, Eight!" First’s yell thundered. But the ghastly-looking owl remained silent while it was coldly looking down at First.

"First!" A low cold voice of a male was heard instead of the stuttering girl.

First imdiately turned pale. His hands were cold and trembling as though he dipped them in a frozen lake. "Lord Isami!"

He then hurriedly kneeled to express his reverence.

"How was the task coming along?" The voice of Lord Isami lacked any emotion as he asked about it.

"I-I am confident that I can finish the transportation circle by tomorrow, Lord Isami. So that we can transport all the defective test subjects to this place before the test."

"First, you know the number one rule that can never be compromised among my creations, right? Can you say it to ?" The man’s voice sounded dangerous.

"I-It was loyalty, Lord Isami." First answered while keeping his head down.

"I want to hold the heart of all my creations. I want to be in control of the life that I spent efforts to create. So it always saddens

whenever I think that one of my crafts will turn its back on

one day. Did you feel what I am saying, First?!" With just the angry bellow of the man from the other side, it sent the moon elf flying in the other direction.

"Arghh!" First was wheezing after his body almost got impaled on the earthen wall. "Lord Isami, I didn’t. I would never-"

"Don’t give

your petty reasons when you have felt it. Didn’t your heart ache for a while now?"

First was rendered speechless and he could only look at the lord that he was serving with wide eyes.

"First! This is not good! He is a bad man! He will hurt you so you must run!" The desperate voice of the owner of the body reigned on his mind but First was out of it. He is just blankly looking at the ghastly owl that currently beca the vessel of Lord Isami.

"I gave you an indestructible body as a parasitic golem, First. I also gave you the suitable body of a dying child moon elf. But in the end, you are still swayed by the others. Do you really like that fake na that you owned?" The owl eerily twisted its neck while looking at First as if the moon elf was already dead in his eyes.

"No! That na is not fake! That is my real na! Our na!" The childish voice shouted inside his head. But First didn’t care about it at all. His heart has fallen down the pit in every word that ca out of Lord Isami’s mouth. It was a death sentence for him.

Even if he wanted to reason out, he cannot. It’s been a long while since his strength left him.

To his horror, the ugly owl flew towards him. It then landed on the petrified First’s head.

"That’s why you don’t have to worry about the transportation circle. Because I will be leaving the trash here." Lord Isami said apathetically.

No one inside the tunnel knows that this ti, a telepathic connection was connected to the soul of the original owner of First’s body.

The soul used this fortunate coincidence, to ask for help for the moon elf lord.

The owl glowed a black and purple light and First’s entire body beca covered with black velvety feathers. Once the feathers are undone, it revealed a dazed-looking moon elf.

"Eight, supervise over this trash and make sure he completes the new magic circle. Before those damn moon elves manage to kill all the failed subjects that we threw here."

"We will need to set the testing in advance."
