Chapter 226: Lord’s Solution is Prenancy Luck?! (1)
Logan looked at the Moon Elf Lord. The gongs are nowhere near them, but at this mont, he feels like he is turning deaf due to the loud beating of his heart. It was in their natural instinct to follow the will of their Moon Elf Lord, and they didn’t have a sliver of intention to break away from that, but they were at the ends of their wits. They themselves enjoyed creating steel as it broadened their horizon in terms of tal crafting, but they failed hard to control the effects that the process entails.
Now if the Moon Elf Lord turned his back on them because of this...
Logan hitched his breath. To be set aside for not doing what they like because they are incapable of coming up with flexible solutions to their problem... If that did happen, then they would be the most pitiful clan of the Moon Elves. They will turn into the greatest sha ever written in their history.
"So, the negative aspects of steel production outweigh its benefits, huh? Okay, I will listen to you."
"My Lord?" Logan and the patriarchs looked at Luis as if they had seen him split his head into two. Even Feren, who was out of touch most of the ti, was revealed to be listening and anticipating whatever the Moo Elf Lord’s decision would be.
"But that is an exceptional technology that could help us beco stronger. And you will just let that go, My Lord?"
Luis looked at his subordinates, incredulous. "Wait, what do you want
to say? Do you expect
to be a tyrant and force you to cast steel for ?"
The group from the tal Clans turned silent.
"Wait, what is the real problem?" Legland asked. "Was it the lack of fuel? We can help you procure that. Wood or coal, we can look around the Amber Forest and even the peaks of Thilbi Mountain ranges."
"The back mountain where we used to live has so coal deposits," Xagrien added. "We discovered that when we ca back the other day."
"Wait!" Old Feren exaggeratedly waved around his arms to make the following onslaught of supports. "That is not the problem!"
"It’s the smoke pollution that it emits, right?" Luis interrupted. He had long foreseen this problem and didn’t lack in reminding the tal Clans about this.
His dark green eyes scanned the faces of every patriarch of the tal Clan and noticed one common denominator. They wanted to carry on casting steel, but the environntal problem it poses is hard to ignore, especially for moon elves who care a lot about their environnt.
"I guess the fus were much more terrible since your place lacks trees. Have you guys tried any thod to control the pollution?" Luis asked. If it was on earth, this question is utterly bullshit. Like, who could control or even get rid of pollution? He lived there until a few years into the apocalypse, and the toxin pestering Mother Nature remained untreated—much more like the zombie virus.
But Luis’ ass is presently in this magical world full of fantastical things that are out of reach for his common sense.
He is open to surprises after his rebirth.
"Then please co with us, my Lord," Logan motioned his arm towards the door of the smithy, and Luis did not hesitate to step forward.
The inside of the smithy was more expansive than he expected, and all he could say was that they really knew how to do their job. From the forge to even the hamrs that co in all sizes and shapes, each workstation is wholly equipped with the tools needed. Even the distances between them were thoughtfully laid out in order to provide the most comfortable work area for each of them.
"As expected of the tal Clans. They are natural team players," Luis couldn’t help but loudly note, causing the honest folks of tal Clans to blush.
"This is it, my Lord," Logan ekly pointed to the things laid out around the working station.
The first thing that ca to Luis’ mind upon seeing the "tool" they used to control or remove the fus of steelmaking was, "Are they for real?"
"This is a potty grass," Logan proudly carried one pot of plant to show it to the Moon Elf Lord.
"Bwahahaha," Luis could only laugh out loud. He doesn’t know if this world is playing tricks on him, but these plants’ leaves resemble the weeds he has in mind. The only difference is that it oddly is as fleshy as an aloe vera leaf, and the color they have is blood red.
"Well, maybe they serve different purposes?" he said to himself, trying to give the benefit of the doubt.
"Is there anything wrong, My Lord?" Logan asked the giggling bearer. The laugh of their leader put a lot of pressure on them, but they couldn’t stop wondering what the aning behind that loud laugh was.
"Nothing," Luis bit his lips, trying to stop himself from laughing. "By chance, do you feel high when you are casting steel? Or maybe you tried drying these— Hihihi."
In the end, he failed and started to laugh once again.
"Ah, My Lord? I don’t understand what you are trying to imply," one patriarch said. "The potty grass originated from Kali Volcano in the north. It has the ability to absorb the harmful air emitted by the volcano while at the sa ti, it purifies the air."
"Oh, I see.’
Luis finally forced himself to be sober. "So, that is what you use to absorb the fus!"
Logan nodded, "But as you can see. The potty grass leaves turned red, indicating that it had absorbed the maximum amount of toxic fus it could sustain. However, this was only for an entire day! Normally, this plant could maintain a stable pace for a year. But now..."
"And that is where the problem lies," Luis rubbed his chin. In his head, he is trying to think if any of his abilities could do the work. "Did you try looking for various plants that could do the sa thing?"
Feren shook his head this ti, "It was actually a coincidence that we discovered its existence. It was Legland’s father who brought it from Kali Volcano. He gave it to us since he said we would need it more than he does."
"Wait, Father went ahead and gave you that?" Legland interjected. His father was part of the Gorgon Clan, one of the few fire clans living outside the Amber Forest. He was known as a brilliant alchemist who researched practical things that could be used in daily life. In short, he is more like a chemical engineer.
"Yes!" Feren said snarkily. "Your old man is more thoughtful and respectful than you are, my student! Be proud of your father!"
Legland could only scratch his head. There is no excuse for that. By choice, he focuses more on his work as the head sentinel and his mate. It’s not like he could say that reason or his good old master will have a bitter fit.
"Shhh!" The Moon Elf Lord silenced their little scuffle. Xagrien, who could clearly see what was really happening with Luis, also made a small hand sign to leave the Moon Elf Lord alone. That was when they realized that their respected leader was closely scrutinizing the plant.
Or so they believe. Their Moon Elf Lord is running through the system interface while using the plant as the camouflage.
Currently, no art is available in the inheritance, and even the sigil could help the present problem. The only thing that could potentially give the wanted solution was Luis’ wood power.
"Revitalize, Healer’s Touch, Morning Wood Skill Card, and Grower’s Skill Card. None of these available skills could resolve anything, so now that leaves
with the other option, the unlocked skills. Seems like this is the right ti to choose," Luis said to himself. Since the need has already presented itself, there is no need to hold back spending the system points he raked in from the quests.
Luis looked at the top side of the panel and saw that he’s got 210 system points. It’s more than enough to unlock one of his wood skills using 150 system points.
He opened the drop-down button and saw the two skills that remained grayed out: Property Manipulation and Growth Stimulation.
"Well, if it cos down to two, there is no need to overthink. I know what skill I used to modify the plants we grew in the harsh apocalypse environnt," he said internally and discreetly chose to unlock Property Manipulation.
To be completely honest, Luis is a little uncomfortable making this choice. Back in the apocalyptic earth, he studied a lot about botany before he could completely and successfully modify a plant. Ti, effort, and comprehension. Those are the only things he needed in exchange for using that skill because there is existing information there. But here, it is a struggle from the ground up.
"Please give
so useful add-on, system! I don’t want to use this just to harden a wooden stick!" Luis inwardly prayed.
anwhile, his subordinates were silently worried since they saw how hard their Moon Elf Lord was closing their eyes.
"Is he communicating with the Moon Goddess?" is the thought that reigns in the heads of the folks from the tal Clan. Their heart was discreetly bleeding just by thinking their lord would go to such lengths for their selfish desire!
All of a sudden, an intense, blinding green light has emitted from the Moon Elf Lord. A fairly strong wind abruptly surrounded the entire smithy while the Moon Elf Lord’s nature’s energy fluctuated in the air. Their thoughts and hearts are racing, but none are panicking, for they know this is just their lord doing sothing out of this world again!
The light has subsided, and at the sa ti, the nature’s energy of the Moon Elf Lord cald down. This mont of silence was followed by Luis’ sudden and loud exclamation. "Holy cr-, is this why they say pregnant people are lucky? I think I hit the jackpot!"
