Chapter 74: Chapter 73: Fusion of Fla Curse and City Aristocrats_1
Black Wolf, Old Witch, Knight Griffin and Ivita sat in two carriages, heading to the city of Parviga.
One carriage carried Ivita and his companions while the other was packed with cast iron ingots and four ironworker apprentices.
With nothing else to engage them in the carriage, they all began to chat.
In their conversation, they all couldn’t help but ntion how Ambros’s city faction seed to clash with the nobles, and how the cities seed to be sowhat freer than the manors.
Ivita, however, couldn’t disagree more.
Because the current status of city capital was about 3 to 4 versions behind the real capital on Earth.
The current city capital was more like city nobility.
From Ivita’s perspective, the feudal lords had a binding attachnt to the serfs, but the guild system in Ambros’ regi also bound the apprentices and craftsn.
Both situations involved mandatory restrictions on people’s freedom.
The only difference was that guild apprentices and craftsn were slightly more independent compared to the serfs.
However, the guilds require apprentices to work for their masters free of charge for two years and then work at a low wage for roughly five years. Even after graduation, the apprentice will still be exploited by the guild.
During this process, the master and the guild might not even teach you the real techniques.
Many guild apprentices waste seven or eight years and then they are left with nothing to show for it, they either have to change industries or go back to farming.
Such apprentices are not uncommon; they are all victims of the guild system.
However, Ivita knew that he needed many excellent ironworkers in the future.
Therefore, he repeatedly covertly pressured the old ironworkers in his territory, urging them not to conceal anything but to pass on their knowledge to their apprentices.
Moreover, he also told the old ironworkers that future productivity demands would only increase. If they didn’t want to hinder the developnt of the territory, they should earnestly teach the apprentices so real skills.
Otherwise, when the ti ca, it would be too late to teach them.
Ivita introduced a quota system in the cast-iron workshop, in which each ironworker had to slt a certain amount of cast iron each month.
The benefit of this approach was that sotis, when the master ironworkers couldn’t work for so reason, they had to let their apprentices take over. As a result, the master ironworkers had no choice but to teach their apprentices so real skills.
In the carriage, Ivita rotated the Ring of Desire on his little finger, and said with a light laugh, “My friends, that is why I choose to implent a quota system. Because compared to human morality, I believe more in human evil.”
“I won’t rely on people’s kindness if I can use systems to achieve my goals.”
Black Wolf and Knight Griffin nodded in agreent.
Exactly, instead of expecting the old ironworkers to hand over their technology obediently, it’s better to establish a system that forces them to do so.
The Old Witch was amazed by this Demon God’s understanding of human nature.
This made the Old Witch even more afraid. Fortunately, she believed that she was getting closer to Ambros. As long as she found her favorite pupil…
If she used her as a scapegoat, she believed she would be able to leave the Demon God’s side quickly.
The Old Witch said, “Your Majesty, do you know? Your view is precisely the disputed point of the two largest republics on the southern peninsula. The Aristocratic Comrcial Republic shares your view, thinking that people’s evil nature should be trusted to protect the republic, and the spirit of the republic should be protected by laws and civic education.”
“While the other republic, Florcana, organized by the craft guilds, believes that human virtue should sustain the spirit of the republic.”
“The ideological conflicts between the two republics even surpass the religious disputes, and even the Church dare not get involved for fear of becoming the common enemy of both republics.”
Ivita laughed.
Indeed, when two people quarrel, anyone who tries to diate could end up being beaten by both sides.
Ivita was curious about these two republics. “Do the citizens of the two republics have the right to participate in politics?”
The Old Witch looked at Ivita in surprise. “How could it be, Your Majesty? Could there actually be a country in this world where everyone can participate in politics? Who would enact such absurd laws?”
Ivita’s words seed to ruffle the Old Witch’s feathers, causing her to shriek out, “That’s impossible.”
“In both the Aristocratic Comrcial Republic and Floracana, which are millennial republics, only the great rchant nobility and life-long senates mathat get to participate in politics in the forr, while only the guild leaders and great rchants get to do the sa in the latter.”
Ivita nodded in understanding.
So that was how it was; now he understood.
This world did not yet have the kind of modern republic seen on Earth, where everyone was equal, everyone was a citizen, and there were no layers of privilege in the law.
The republics in the southern peninsula and the city councils in Ambros were all traditional republics.
These republics had nobility and even monarchs. They had privileged classes and legal privileges.
Even the French Revolution initiated by Napoleon on Earth served to overthrow both the monarchy and these traditional oligarchical republics.
“It might take about two more days to reach our destination. I should take a look at the magic book you’ve prepared for .” Ivita flipped open the magic book that the Old Witch had given him, which she had handwritten herself.
When he flipped through the pages, he found that the book was filled with complex information, but primarily recorded four types of magic—
The Fire Guidance Spell,
The Sparkle Spell,
The Flying Stone Spell,
And the Throwing Spell.
“There are four spells in total, but you need only choose one from each of the sa types,” said the Hearthstone Grand Witch.
“These are all spells I know of that might suit you. However, I don’t know which ones suit you best.”
When Ivita turned to the pages with the Sparkle Spell and the Fire Guidance Spell, he suddenly paused. Both spells ca with their unique fire array diagrams and specific magical dium materials.
Ivita stared at the fire array diagrams in the magic book, and for a mont his pupils contracted.
Bizarrely, the two different fire array diagrams in the magic book had turned into two forms of leaping flas in his eyes. These flas were floating midair, and were gradually rging together.
Not only that, but the incantations for the two spells seed to disassemble into individual letters in his eyes. These letters swiftly ford new phrases, becoming a new incantation.
The curses were fusing inside his eyes!
Ivita gradually realized that the power Zeus had granted him allowed him to embed the na of a Greek god into magic associated with lightning and modify it.
And the power Ra had granted him seemingly allowed him to rge two similar Fla spells together.
Furthermore, it seed that this was not his limit and that he could continue rging other Fla spells together.
The temperature inside the carriage abruptly began to rise, causing Black Wolf to constantly mop his sweat.
At this ti, Ivita’s carriage was about to cross a stream. When the wheel touched the water, part of the stream began to boil.
Demon Hunter Black Wolf stared into Ivita’s eyes and saw that his pupils had turned crimson.
“Don’t you all feel hot?” Black Wolf grumbled, feeling like he had been grilled.
“Oh, right, I forgot. You’re both a witch and a knight.”
The Knight Griffin laughed, “Yes, indeed. I have a spiritual skin cell structure that allows
to withstand high temperatures.”
The Old Witch seed to have misunderstood the situation. She had not realized that two types of magic were rging inside Ivita’s eyes. She comnted, “Your Grace, I knew you had a unique feeling towards fla magic.”
“The mont you made contact, the magic began to transform abnormally. It’s no wonder—one of the origins of Fire Black Magic is deeply related to Princess Alsace.”
“You are retracing the path tread by your ancestors.”
“That’s what makes magic so interesting.”
