Chapter 102: Chapter 92: The Special Magic Power Protecting the Spirit of the Republic_3

Lady Alice turned to Ivita, who was sitting on a bench beside her, patiently explaining, “The bell tower symbolizes the Republic.”

“Traditionally, when a bell tower is erected in the center of a city, it signifies the city’s intention to beco an independent Republic.”

“Parviga is ultimately only a part of the Viscount’s domain, with no one wanting to break away. We don’t have the inherent ability nor the ambition for that either.”

“What exactly is this stubborn old noble thinking.”

Lord Prole didn’t finish his statent, he remained standing in front of his own bench, continuing to shout: “We should be discussing whether to establish a standing bell tower, a bridge bell tower, an Arc de Triomphe bell tower, or perhaps a cathedral bell tower!”

“Let’s not forget, the Republics claim that the bell tower possesses a magical power stronger than a witch’s magic; each Republic has its own unique mont. They believe that fixing the hand of the clock—hour, minute, and second—at this juncture will make the bell tower the origin of magical power.”

“It’s ti for us to choose a mont of our own.”

A few sporadic applauses erged from the hall, and the volu gradually increased over ti.

The gentlen present were all utterly confused.

They whispered to each other on their benches, feeling that such a serious eting had turned into a farce at this point.

The mayor of Parviga stared suspiciously at Prole, the white-haired elder, not knowing what he was up to.

The Mayor said to Lord Prole, “My lord, you can stand on our Lion’s Pallet to speak, why would you stand amongst the crowd?”

But Lord Prole, caught up in his oratory, spread his arms wide, like a harbinger of the Republic declaring, “I do not wish to stand on a pedestal because I co from the crowd and I will leave within it.”

“Why not declare ourselves an independent Republic!”

“If the Viscount’s domain is but a backward, barbaric feudal country, why must we remain within it?”

So neutral spectators and a few heads of guilds could no longer bear to watch.

Seeing so people seemingly supporting Lord Prole, they promptly voiced their opinions to prevent their musings from becoming reality.

“No, Parviga remains loyal to the Viscount’s domain. Without the Grand Viscount maintaining order for us, how can we conduct business in peace?”

The president of the Wool Guild, from his seat, loudly proclaid, “Parviga’s economy depends heavily on the surrounding cities, villages, and estates. It’s impossible for us to attain independence. I don’t think any dignified individual would agree to such a foolish idea.”

The eting began to grow tumultuous.

Although Lady Alice did not fully understand the situation, she ntioned to Ivita, “The different forms of the bell towers represent the Republic we wish to emulate, to grow closer culturally to one of the Three Republics.”

“A standing bell tower symbolizes Florcana.”

“The Arc de Triomphe bell tower stands for the Aristocratic Comrcial Republic.”

“A bell tower on a bridge signifies the Belisarius Business Republic.”

“And the cathedral bell tower? Pointing to Ravenna of course, the Church and its people, it’s a Republic composed of church priests.”

Lady Alice said: “The bell tower is the symbol of the Republic, though I’m not sure why that is the case.”

“Legend has it that at a certain ti for each Republic’s bell tower, it becos a powerful source of magical essence that protects the spirit of the Republic.”

“Depending on the ti, the strength and characteristics of the magical power can vary.”

“But I believe that this is just their cultural tradition and nothing more.”

Sothing clicked in Ivita’s mind. He thought about the ancient text on his Prophecy Bronze Dagger. Doesn’t the text also ntion the spirit of the Republic?

Could it be that the spirit of the Republic truly is protected by magic and the connections between these bell towers and the Republics originated from the Ancient Civilization?

Ivita confessed to Lady Alice: “I’m beginning to understand what Lord Prole wants.”

Lady Alice, the Old Witch, as well as Black Wolf and Griffin, along with the witches apprentice, masquerading as a maid by Lady Alice’s side, all looked at Ivita.
