After witnessing Alyndra’s powers, I had a pretty good guess about the identity of one of them.

I rubbed my chin while staring at a grotesque, blood-covered, human heart, swallowing so saliva.

Alya was giving an encouraging look, but ugh! ...Eating it without life-threatening pressure was a whole other challenge.

"Hm... Overload?" Zhenny’s face turned thoughtful as she let go of Kobi, as if going through every bit of information in her head.

She nodded after a second, "There are only two besides Alyndra..." She pulled two docunts out of a small pouch she wore hidden under the long black robe, "Jah crooks and Luci Desen."

Jah... What is that motherfucker up to? I wasn’t too happy with him, not gonna lie. He should be sensing and our situation as clearly as he was here...

I an, I am not expecting him to be my babysitter, but the way he was treating ... he could at least help a little bit, seeing we are all dying, no?

Is she an ally? My face brightened, Jah was already closer to a friend then enemy. Two overloads! We can do it!

My face had lost whatever colour it had. Soone who had tried and failed to kill is now right next to , whilst having a great opportunity to kill . There are no trump cards anymore; it would be up to Jah to save then.

Alya had grabbed my hand, rubbing my palm with her soft thumb, her warmth seeping in and providing so comfort, though her despair-filled, scornful face instantly made that vanish.

Zhenny flipped to the other page with a passive look, "Jah crooks is a human raised in slums who dealt in illegally obtained veil ingredients—

illegal potions that raised power at a great cost, dangerous artifacts and drugs like cocaine, famous for his massacres of entire groups of anyone who crosses his path by either not paying or stealing from his custors."

Zhenny rubbed her throat as if tired of speaking, "Not much is known about how he was caught, besides Alyndra was the one to catch him."

Suge nodded gratefully, listening to every word from Zhenny patiently, "I see... If it’s those two, it makes sense. Must be a fight for each other’s cores..."

After noticing our blank looks, he added, "I’ve heard that they were both very close to evolution, so winning this fight could an an important ingredient for their veil of ascension; a breakthrough to Paragon!"
