The last Vampire with the Hero summoner system: I get 5x their powers Chapter 63: Last request
"Anything you should say, Kael?" I asked with a soft smile. This wasn’t the ti to be worried about a holy spirit or whatnot.
And she saved Alya’s life, I had a pretty good impression of her.
Kael’s face faltered, though he managed to force a weak smile. "Not quite, just take care of yourself and thank you for getting out of that cell." He said with a respectful bow.
"You are more than even, don’t even ntion it." I shook my head.
His thoughtful eyes stayed for a long mont before he bit his lip and sighed deeply, "Actually... I do have a request."
"Oh? Let’s hear it!"
He extended his hand towards as I tilted my head. Last request’s a handshake? As I extended mine, his began shaking and trembling like he was having a seizure, prompting to back mine with curious eyes.
Next second, it was glimring and glowing, soothing, shiny red, blinding the hand to look like a flash torch.
Kael frowned with focus. In just five seconds, the light began dimming, revealing an extrely beautiful transparent ring with almost infinite shades of orange and red ring, prettier than diamonds or jade.
It didn’t look like sothing from this world, probably sothing an Alien warlord would wear to erase half-life from the universe.
Kael looked at it for a while, and his lips cracked in a bright smile of triumph, "Ho... In Valentine city, street four in northside, Joy... My daughter lives all alone. It’s a big house, in a good area, but probably... too big.
He lowered his head, "I am a wanted criminal, a church heretic, and also a terrorist. Locked in the worst place as soone without human rights because I was so evil I didn’t deserve them...
If it were a regular teenager, how do you think they would react?"
"They would believe the straightforward truth." It would be extrely rare and almost impossible for even mature adults to ignore such allegations from the authority towards their loved ones and require... An INSANE amount of trust.
"She never doubted , not even once. She promised to wait for . Knowing her, I doubt she even goes to college now." His face grew darker than the pitch black of our surroundings.
My fists clenched, Church had too much power... All that for saving orphans? And after what Alyndra said, the empire was probably backing them completely, so there’s no such thing as control involving them.
Alya was taking in ragged breaths, "I promise, I will pay you back by destroying the church one day. It will be over then!" She was almost in tears, which was pretty shocking, knowing her detachnt for humans.
"Don’t worry about any of those things." He shook his head firmly, "My request for you two is..." Kael’s voice grew hesitant, closing his fist around the translucent ring.
My eyes glinted before I patted his shoulder, "Don’t worry, it’s the first thing we will do. That’s a promise." I said with a determined nod, extended my hand.
He opened his palm slowly, revealing the beautiful ring shining glamorously in the pitch black as I gently picked it up. "Thank you..." He whispered.
Gotta et up with Joy and pass her this ssage all under the church’s noses, as we can’t let them find out.
"You won’t ask for this?" Shen, who was standing by the side quietly, grumbled under his breath like a jealous tsundere wife of the harem.
Kael’s smile did a one-eighty and was replaced by look filled with guilt and apology, "No, No! please don’t take it like that, Mr. Shen! I respect you very much. I am sorry! I didn’t an to hurt your feelings. Thing is, they are more suited for it."
"Hmph! Why?" ’I could’ve even adopted and trained her.’ I felt him say under his breath.
"I wanted you to take care of Sasha and enjoy the few days you have left after you’re finally free. It would be inconsiderate of to ask a senior citizen to travel so far for ."
Shen’s face reddened, half with anger, half with embarrassnt, "Boy, you wanna die? Let show you what this senior citizen can still do!" Shen lunged without hessitation.
Kael burst into laughter, raising his arms in surrender, "I am just kiddin—"
He couldn’t finish his sentence. His body fell forward on Shen and limply, startling both and Shen, who rushed to grab him.
Kael’s breathing was barely audible, "Not enough ti... Sasha, don’t miss !" He hurriedly turned towards Sasha, who had fallen to her knees with an expressionless face.
"Follow this old man, and force him to send you to a university, maybe dicine, since you’re the most talented healer I’ve ever t." He spoke seriously, prompting tears from Sasha’s fragile eyes as she stood up shakily.
"Start everything anew, and a day will co when you won’t even be able to rember this place. You’re very talented... As a human, as a healer, as a warrior. Don’t ever regret anything." Kael’s voice grew weaker and weaker but still warm and soft.
"I won’t! I swear. I won’t regret anything!" Tears still flowed from her eyes, but her eyes were unblinking, staring at him with a face that belonged on a veteran soldier ready for their last stand.
Kael’s body grew lighter, his shoulders relaxing, "Really?" It was like a heavy, invisible weight was lifted from his chest.
"I have made up my mind..." Sasha continued before Kael could finish with a ’good luck’, "I will beco a hero too! Just like you!"
Kael’s face beca paler and more scared than it was while dying or fighting Alyndra. He practically scread, "Never!" Sasha flinched.
"It’s a fool’s job! You’re too smart for this. Money isn’t good. Risk is higher than joining the army. Most of the superiors are corrupt to the bone. There are constant death threats from gangs.
Joining a hospital would make your life much more comfortable, peaceful, beautiful... If lives are what you want to save, you can do that much more directly there."
Sasha resolutely took a deep breath, her body shaking a little, "I will beco a hero!" She repeated herself even louder than before.
"I will beco a healer for them. Fire brighter than yours in their life... Provide them warmth after everything they endure... I will beco a hero like you."
Kael cursed himself under his breath as he realised, he didn’t want to change her mind.
His pleading eyes turned to Shen, "Please convince her."
Shen sighed, "I will try..." From the looks of it, he knew how hard and almost impossible it was going to be.
"I have no dislikes for you... That’s rare. I could’ve saved you if not for my incompetence. I am sorry." Subaru said apologetically from where he stood, joining his hands ritualistically as he murmured a prayer.
Kael bowed while still limp in our arms, "You did more than enough. Thank you for everything. Please take good care of Lucien and Alya. They are good people."
Nothing was said after that.
The following few seconds passed in complete silence, besides the crackles of Alyndra’s corpse burning that echoed louder and louder.
Everybody, be it Suge, a beast kin Alpha, or slaves who hated heroes to the core, or Alya, who had deep hatred for humanity and all human authorities, including the hero’s organization, had lowered their heads respectfully.
Kael’s heartbeat had paused.
Kael was dead.
