According to the bald principal’s statent, there should only be five bodies that hadn’t been found yet. However, including the one the Wendigo had carried out, there were already six sets of bones here! Staring at the extra skeleton, a possibility suddenly occurred to Chu Feng. A chill flashed through his eyes. According to the records of the Demon Hunter’s Log, one origin of the Wendigo was said to be humans transford by cannibalism.

"So, could it be that soone intentionally created this Wendigo?"

He silently stowed that speculation deep in his heart. Chu Feng had no intention of investigating the truth; after all, he wasn’t in his hotown but in the land of the free, Arica. In fact, he almost wished this country would beco more chaotic. As the saying goes, "the bigger the storm, the pricier the fish."

Returning to the school’s main gate, Chu Feng found Jas’s yellow taxi still parked in the sa spot.

Seeing Chu Feng erge, Jas ca up with an excited look. "Chu, is everything sorted inside?"

"Correct, it’s dealt with! It was a man-eating monster."

Jas wasn’t interested in knowing what kind of monster it was. His mind was focused only on the one million US dollars he was about to receive.

SQUEAK.

Right then, a black sedan burst out from sowhere. Before the car even stopped, the portly Principal Frank rushed out and ran over to Chu Feng’s side.

"Chu, how did it go inside?" Principal Frank asked, looking expectant.

Chu Feng let out a light chuckle. "It’s taken care of!"

"Yes! Yes!" Upon hearing Chu Feng’s affirmative answer, Principal Frank’s portly figure seed to almost leap up on the spot. He waved his arms about while letting out relieved shouts of celebration.

Jas, who had approached without notice, murmured quietly to Chu Feng, "Seems like the school board was really pressing him hard!"

Chu Feng didn’t respond, just smiled as he watched the bald principal vent his emotions.

A few minutes later, Principal Frank finally cald down.

"Sorry about that, Mr. Chu, for making a spectacle of myself!"

"It’s nothing; we fully understand your feelings. Oh, by the way, if you need to verify anything inside the school, I can accompany you for a look."

Upon hearing Chu Feng’s suggestion, the bald principal shuddered and hastily waved his hands in refusal. "No, no! I think that won’t be necessary. I still trust the reputation of Arica’s First Exorcist!"

Unable to bear the principal’s dithering, Jas stepped forward and directly broached the subject. "Frank, about the paynt for this job?"

"Don’t worry, Mr. Chu. I will report the results to the board imdiately. By tomorrow at the latest, the one million US dollars will be transferred into your account."

"Okay, since everything’s settled, we should get going. Goodbye, Principal Frank." After waving, Chu Feng and Jas got into the car and left.

「The next morning,」 Chu Feng woke up naturally. Seeing the bank transaction notification on his phone, he revealed a faint smile.

Truth be told, even though his bank account already held a substantial sum, looking at the fresh deposit of one million US dollars still filled him with an exceptional sense of satisfaction.

Chu Feng, in an unusually good mood, was humming a tune while eating breakfast when Jas’s call ca in.

"Jas, is there another client?"

"Client? No clients! If there were, I wouldn’t be calling you at this ti!"

Hearing this, the smile on Chu Feng’s face suddenly stiffened.

So, was Jas deliberately calling early in the morning every ti?

Listening to the money-grubbing tone on the other end, Chu Feng really wanted to just hang up. "Chu, I’m calling to ask if that one million US dollars has been transferred to your account yet?" Jas asked.

"It’s been transferred. I’ll send you your commission in a bit," Chu Feng said irritably, about to hang up.

However, Jas on the other end started sharing so new information. "Chu, sothing happened at Central Hospital in Queens last night—that’s where I was hospitalized before!"

"Oh? What happened?" At the ntion of the hospital, Chu Feng imdiately thought of the old lady who was likely possessed by Hell Creatures. Could it be that old lady went berserk?

"I’m not sure of the specifics, but I’ve heard from colleagues who passed by that the place is now completely surrounded by the police, and no one is allowed inside! Plus, it seems like a lot of exorcists have been brought there." After sharing this, Jas sounded sowhat worried.

The unease in Jas’s tone made Chu Feng frown. "What? Were those exorcists taken there by force?"

"Rumor has it that the exorcists initially went voluntarily, but sothing happened later. When they wanted to leave, they were forcibly detained."

The reliability of these rumors made Chu Feng skeptical.

"Chu, the police might co looking for you too. Be careful!"

"Don’t worry, I still have connections in the New York Police Departnt." After hanging up, Chu Feng rembered Captain Boris. He’s probably at Central Hospital in Queens right now.

Inside the office of the Chief of the New York Police Departnt, Boris was staring angrily at the new Chief.

"Boris, I order you, as the Chief of the New York Police Departnt, to imdiately go and bring that exorcist here!" the new Chief commanded.

"Chief Pierce, I refuse this order! I’ve said it before: unless soone’s paying, I definitely won’t go looking for that greedy guy!" After shouting this at his new boss, Boris left the Chief’s office, his face full of rage.

"Damn it!" Helplessly watching his subordinate leave, the newly appointed Chief Pierce angrily slamd his fist on the table.

To encounter such a major incident just after taking office, and his subordinates wouldn’t even follow his commands! How could his luck be so bad?

「Boris, who had just stepped out, showed no trace of anger anymore.」

What a moronic new chief! Trying to make offend an exorcist? Do I look like one of those fools outside? He spat disdainfully in the direction of the Chief’s office before heading back to his desk.

Seeing Boris return, Sara, who was nearby, hurried over and asked in a quiet voice, "Boss, what did that idiot want?"

"That blockhead wants Chu to go into that hospital but doesn’t want to spend a di! I told him it wouldn’t work, and he actually wanted to go and drag Chu back here."

Sara, who had been listening nearby, had a look of utter astonishnt. "Is he an idiot? He actually thought of capturing Chu!"

"Who knows? Maybe!" Boris shrugged helplessly.
