"White Walkers, you say, Lord Commander?"Cregan Stark stood atop the Wall, the endless white beyond mocking his words. Wind clawed at his cloak, but his voice remained steady.

"Aye, Lord Cregan," Jeor Mormont replied, his old eyes shadowed. "I know even a Stark might find it hard to swallow. Tales for children, myths and fables—"

"Nah," Cregan cut in, sharp as Valyrian steel. "I believe you ."

Jeor blinked, shock plain on his weathered face. "You... believe it? Just like that?"

Cregan shrugged, eyes distant. "If dragons can co to the realm, why not those White Walker freaks?"

Jeor's mouth worked silently for a mont. "Aye... I'm glad you believe it, my lord. But convincing others? No one's seen dragons in more than a hundred and fifty years. White Walkers? They're ghosts in children's songs."

"Not entirely true," Cregan said quietly. "Daenerys Targaryen has hatched three. I've seen them myself."

The Lord Commander's eyes widened. "Truth? Credible word?"

"My own eyes, I have seen it and even experienced the infamous dragon flas. Though the ti I saw them they were re child so to say." Cregan confird, turning to glare at the ice wall that stretched to the horizon. "My ancestors didn't raise seven hundred feet of ice wall just to keep out wildlings. They'd have welcod the fight. It was sothing to keep in the eternal ice if I have to say."

"Aye, my lord," Jeor murmured, the weight of it settling between them.

"But we can't be certain yet," Cregan continued, his tone turning pragmatic. "Myths and fables are just that—until we have proof. We need more. Scouts. Rangings. Eyes beyond the Wall."saying that Cregan lost himself to cold winds and his thoughts once again staring into the ice and feeling ho.

Jeor nodded grimly, then turned for the steps. "Aye. I'll leave you to your thoughts, then."

As the old man descended, Cregan remained alone atop the battlents. His mind churned like a winter storm. He believed Jeor—not just the words, but the man's conviction. And there were other signs: the prickling unease in his gut, the way Shadow, Kael, and Moondance had grown restless , their hackles raised at shadows no man could see.

Sothing was coming. And it was no wildling raid.

A few days passed. Cregan and his n settled into Castle Black, their presence a steel spine amid the Watch's fraying resolve. Ser Blackhand, Cregan's second-in-command, oversaw the soldiers and brothers of wall alike with quiet efficiency—drilling them, sharpening blades, ensuring the Wall's weak points were shored.

The scouts brought word on the third day: wildlings sighted. Magnars of Thenn, cannibal n from the frozen valleys, moving south in force. But numbers didn't fear the Lord Commander but ferocity and Brutality of Magnars of Thenns .

Cregan stood with Blackhand in the yard, watching black brothers ready spears.

"Thenns," Blackhand grunted. "Not the main host. Mance Rayder's scouts, likely. Feeling us out."

"Aye, should be. But things could also be different" Cregan replied, eyes on the horizon. " Regardless Let them co. We'll send them back bloody."

Everyone in the Wall awaiting the skirmish that will co at dusk—horns blaring , figures swarming the treeline. But with Starks support The Wall will held, as it always had, The preparation are in the fold sharpening every blade in Castle Black.

Far south, in the Red Keep's shadowed halls, King Robert Baratheon bellowed like a storm."Hunting, Ned! Co hunting with ! The realm won't crumble for a week in the kingswood!"

Lord Hand Eddard Stark stood firm at first, his face lined with the weight of councils and secrets. "Your Grace, there is much to attend—"

"Fuck your attendings!" Robert roared, slamming a aty fist on the table. "Bloody Starks and their stubborn nature , sotis think about other things than work Ned —enough! I need boar and wine and a good chase. Co, or I'll drag you myself!"

Ned sighed, the fight leaching from him. Robert's eyes pleaded beneath the bluster—old friend to old friend."Very well, Your Grace," Ned relented. "A short hunt."

Robert grinned, wild and boyish. "That's my Ned ! Finally so old ti eheh Ned."

As they departed the capital, A new sches happening in the King's Landing But for a mont, the King hunted—and the realm held its breath.
