Chapter 128: Lucas: Hope

The sunlight streams through the window, warming the small living room where Iris and I have finally settled into a routine. It’s been a few weeks since everything changed—since she told

about the baby and we worked through her fears with her parents. I still can’t believe how far we’ve co.

I glance at Iris as she sits on the couch, her legs tucked under her, flipping through a baby book. Her face lights up with each page she turns, the excitent in her eyes infectious. I can’t help but smile at the sight of her, a mix of determination and joy. This is the Iris I’ve always known, but now she’s blossoming into sothing even more incredible.

"Look at this one!" she exclaims, turning the book toward . "It’s all about baby milestones. I had no idea they develop so quickly!"

I lean closer, pretending to read over her shoulder. "Yeah, it’s wild. They really don’t waste any ti, do they?"

She laughs, and the sound fills the room, wrapping around

like a warm blanket. "We’re going to need to be prepared. I want to make sure we don’t miss anything."

"Absolutely," I say, feeling a surge of pride. "And we will. We’re in this together."

Iris looks up at , her expression serious for a mont. "Thank you for being so supportive, Lucas. I don’t know how I would have managed everything without you."

I reach out, taking her hand in mine. "You don’t have to thank . This is what we signed up for. We’re a team, rember?"

She squeezes my hand, and I can see the weight of her worries lifting. It hasn’t all been easy; there have been tough conversations and monts of doubt. But we’ve faced it all head-on, working through every challenge together.

Just then, the doorbell rings, pulling us from our mont. I glance at Iris, raising an eyebrow. "Expecting anyone?"

"No," she replies, her curiosity piqued. "Should I get it?"

"Let ," I say, standing up. I make my way to the door, feeling a mix of excitent and apprehension. I open it to find Iris’s parents standing there, smiles on their faces.

"Hey, Lucas!" her mother greets

warmly. "We just wanted to drop by and see how you both are doing."

"Co in!" I step aside, allowing them to enter. They’ve been so supportive lately, and it feels good to have them in our lives again.

"Hi, Mom! Dad!" Iris calls from the living room as they walk in. She jumps up to give them both a hug, and I watch as the love between them fills the space.

"How are things going?" her father asks, glancing between us as he takes a seat.

"Really well," Iris replies, her face lighting up. "I was just reading about baby milestones."

"Already getting a head start, I see," her mother says with a smile. "That’s wonderful."

We settle into a casual conversation, discussing everything from nursery ideas to parenting classes. I watch Iris engage with her parents, and my heart swells with pride. She’s co so far, and it’s clear how much her family ans to her.

After a while, her father turns to . "Lucas, we appreciate how you’ve been there for Iris through all of this. It’s not easy, and we’re grateful."

I nod, feeling a mix of gratitude and responsibility. "She’s amazing. I’m just doing my part to support her."

"Don’t sell yourself short," her mother interjects. "You’re going to be a fantastic father."

The warmth in their words washes over , and I can’t help but smile. "Thanks. I’m excited and a little nervous, but I’m ready for this."

As the afternoon unfolds, we share laughter and stories, a newfound sense of family filling the room. I look at Iris, and our eyes et. In that mont, I know we’ve created sothing beautiful together—a bond that will only grow stronger with ti.

Later, as her parents say their goodbyes, I feel a sense of peace settle over . They’ve embraced our situation, and it’s clear that we’re all committed to making this work. As Iris closes the door behind them, she turns to , her eyes sparkling.

"That went really well," she says, her voice full of relief.

"Yeah, it did," I agree, pulling her close. "I’m proud of you for opening up to them."

She leans her head against my shoulder, and I wrap my arms around her. "I couldn’t have done it without you."

Another knock cos and I watch as my father, Mr. Andrews, walks into our living room, a big smile on his face. Iris’s parents have just left, and I can tell she’s feeling relieved that the initial reactions are over.

"Ah, congratulations again, you two!" my dad exclaims, beaming with excitent. "I’m going to be a grandfather! I’m thrilled!"

I grin, feeling happy to see him so excited. Just as he’s about to hug , there’s a commotion at the door. Paul, my driver, and Tim, my butler, co rushing in, both carrying large boxes.

"Sorry, sir!" Paul and Tim exclaim in unison, as they collide with my dad.

The three of them stumble, and the boxes go flying. But instead of getting upset, everyone bursts out laughing.

"This is perfect timing!" my dad exclaims, chuckling. "I guess the universe wants to celebrate with us!"

Iris and I join in the laughter, feeling joyful and delighted. Paul and Tim look relieved, grinning from ear to ear.

"Congratulations, Lucas, Iris!" Paul says, shaking our hands. "We’re all thrilled about the baby!"

Tim nods in agreent, beaming. "We’ll make sure to spoil the little one rotten, sir."

The five of us stand there, laughing and congratulating each other. It’s a mont of pure joy, and I feel grateful for the love and support surrounding us.

My dad puts his arm around my shoulders. "You two are going to be amazing parents," he says. "I’m honored to be a part of this journey."

I smile, feeling happy and content. This is just the beginning of our new adventure, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.

Finally after we’re alone, i take her to sit with . I sit in our living room, beaming with pride as I share the exciting news with Iris. "You won’t believe what just happened," I say, a huge grin spreading across my face. "I’ve been appointed as the Vice CEO of Adders Company, and we just hit a major milestone - Adder magazine is now number one on the bestseller chart list!"

Iris’s eyes light up with excitent, and she lets out a squeal of delight. "That’s amazing!" she exclaims, throwing her arms around . "I’m so proud of you, Lucas!"

I hug her back, feeling elated and grateful for her support. "It wouldn’t have been possible without you," I say, smiling at her. "Your encouragent and love an the world to ."

Iris pulls back, her eyes shining with pride. "You’ve worked so hard for this," she says. "You deserve every bit of success."

I smile back at her, feeling grateful for her love and support. " too," I say. "We’re just getting started."

We stand there for a mont, just enjoying the quiet. I think about the journey ahead—the sleepless nights, the joy of first steps, and everything in between. It won’t always be easy, but as long as we’re together, I know we can handle anything.

"Iris," I say softly, pulling back to look into her eyes. "I’m ready for this. Whatever cos our way, we’ll face it together."

A smile breaks across her face, and I feel a surge of hope. "Together," she echoes, and in that mont, I know we’re on the right path.

I sit comfortably on the couch, my arms wrapped around Iris as she sleeps peacefully on my chest. I gently stroke her hair, feeling a deep sense of contentnt wash over . My eyes drift to her belly, where our little one is growing, and I feel a surge of love and excitent for the future.

As I look at Iris, I feel grateful for her presence in my life. She’s my rock, my partner, and my best friend. I think about the journey we’ve been on so far, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for us.

I take a deep breath, feeling her gentle breathing against my chest. The sound is soothing, and I feel my own breathing slow down to match hers. I’m filled with a sense of peace and happiness, knowing that I have Iris and our baby by my side.

As I hold her close, I realize that this is what life is all about – love, family, and connection. I feel grateful for this mont, for the chance to hold Iris and our baby close, and to feel the love and joy that they bring to my life.

I gently kiss the top of her head, feeling my heart fill with love and adoration for her and our little one. In this mont, I know that everything is going to be okay, as long as we have each other. Forever.
