"Go, go!" Ye Chen replied, "Let’s go, let’s visit the hospital to see how Chen Zhongjian is doing!"
"Yes!" The orderly imdiately relayed the order.
Most of the soldiers headed back, the mission this ti was executed beautifully. Although there were so unpleasant incidents in the middle, and Chen Zhongjian got injured, none of the students were hard or killed, which is the best news. Otherwise, if any student had been affected, it would have been troubleso, surely used by the hidden enemies.
Mr. Liu and Vice Chairman Chen were very happy; Ye Chen completed this mission beautifully. Not only did he uncover one of the masterminds, but he also managed to persuade the students to return to school without any losses.
"Ye Chen did an outstanding job this ti!" Mr. Liu said excitedly.
"Exactly!" Chairman Liu nodded, "But what surprises is that Xu Dacheng, the son of the old scoundrel Xu Duqian, turned out to be the mastermind?"
"No!" Mr. Liu imdiately waved his hand, "I don’t think so!"
"Caught red-handed, and you’re still defending him?" Chairman Liu looked at Mr. Liu in confusion.
"Chairman, it’s not that I’m defending him, but from what I know about Xu Dacheng, he couldn’t possibly be the mastermind!" Mr. Liu said with a frown, "At most, he’s just an accomplice. He might just be a pawn in the real mastermind’s hands!"
"It’s possible!" Vice Chairman Chen nodded, looking at Chairman Liu, "Xu Dacheng couldn’t possibly control so many people and organize such a large-scale operation. He’s more likely to fail than succeed, and he’s greedy and lecherous. He can’t accomplish big things!"
"Your analysis makes sense, but where could the real mastermind be?" Chairman Liu asked curiously.
"Well..." Mr. Liu and Vice Chairman Chen were both stumped. They could assert Xu Dacheng wasn’t the mastermind, but couldn’t guess who the real one was. Chairman Liu proposed his hypothesis, "What if Xu Duqian..."
"No!" Mr. Liu waved his hand first, "Chairman, we shouldn’t attribute such things to an old revolutionary and veteran. Although Xu Duqian is sowhat narrow-minded and intolerant, he’s still very loyal to the country and the party!"
"Hmm!" Chairman Liu nodded, not saying much.
"I think we should let Ye Chen investigate this matter. Let’s wait and see!" Mr. Liu seed to have great confidence in Ye Chen.
"Alright, let’s give Ye Chen so ti!" Chairman Liu nodded.
Beijing Military Region General Hospital.
Chen Zhongjian’s injuries were quite severe. He was initially sent to a hospital that couldn’t provide adequate assistance, so after so ergency asures, he was transferred to the military district hospital. The military district hospital was quite capable. Once Chen Zhongjian was admitted, he was quickly sent to the operating room.
The bullet had entered from the back and was lodged in the chest cavity. Moreover, it was wedged between the heart and the lungs. Had it been slightly off, Chen Zhongjian could have lost his life. Chen Zhongjian was sent into the operating room, and surgery began imdiately.
When Ye Chen and the others arrived, Chen Zhongjian was still in surgery.
"How’s the situation?" Ye Chen imdiately grabbed a nurse to ask.
"What situation?" The nurse was startled by Ye Chen.
"The soldier who was just sent into surgery!" Ye Chen added.
"Oh, you an the deputy team leader of the Beijing Guard Team!" The nurse paused, quickly saying, "The patient’s condition is critical. The attending doctor is actively trying to save him in the operating room, but the situation seems grim. He’s receiving continuous blood transfusions in hopes of improving his condition!"
"Thank you!" Ye Chen gave a slight smile to the nurse.
Outside the operating room, more than ten soldiers were waiting with Ye Chen. Chen Zhongjian’s injury deeply affected Ye Chen. If Chen Zhongjian had exchanged places with him on West Street, wouldn’t he have faced trouble too? With enemies lurking in the shadows, had he been too careless? Ye Chen felt guilty but didn’t know what to say. He stood silently at the operating room door, waiting for the surgery’s result, accepting whatever it might be.
Two hours later, the operating room doors finally opened. Several doctors ca out, followed by a nurse pushing a stretcher. Lying on the stretcher was Chen Zhongjian. The anesthesia had long worn off; after it subsided, Chen Zhongjian mostly relied on sheer willpower to endure. The doctors hadn’t anticipated the surgery being so challenging, particularly when retrieving the bullet lodged between the ribs near the heart and lungs. It added unexpected difficulty to the procedure.
Thus, the surgery lasted two and a half hours, although it was expected to take two. That extra half-hour made Chen Zhongjian experience what could be called a hellish ordeal.
"Major General Ye!" Chen Zhongjian looked weakly at Ye Chen.
"Zhongjian, rest well!" Ye Chen held Chen Zhongjian’s hand and said, "Leave everything else to !"
"General, be mindful of those hidden enemies!" Having suffered once, Chen Zhongjian didn’t want Ye Chen to face the sa. He looked at Ye Chen with difficulty, "I hope you bring them to justice!"
"Don’t worry, I’ve already caught one of their fish!" Ye Chen smiled faintly, "With this fish, I can trace back to them!"
"General, please don’t converse too much with the patient. What he needs now is rest!" said the nearby nurse respectfully.
"Hmm!" Ye Chen nodded. The nurse pushed the stretcher away from the operating room entrance, having only glanced at Chen Zhongjian after two hours of waiting.
...
Xu Dacheng being caught stirred considerable reactions within the Xu Family. When the news reached Mr. Xu in the Shenyang Military Region, he only said one thing, "If soone from the Xu Family has done wrong, they should face the law; if anyone dares to exploit other matters to harm the Xu Family, we will not forgive them!"
This statent silenced the Xu Family. Those who initially wanted to confront Ye Chen stayed quiet. They all understood Xu Dacheng’s character. Xu Dacheng and Xu Xiaocheng were completely unruly, notorious bullies in Beijing, known for robbing won and acting arrogantly.
Previously, their bluster was to curry favor with Mr. Xu. Despite being the head of the family with substantial authority, many thought he would intervene since Xu Dacheng was his son. However, they were surprised when Mr. Xu said sothing that imdiately stopped them in their tracks.
...
Xu Dacheng’s arrest also concerned outsiders hidden in the shadows. In a secluded villa, a silver-haired old lady glanced at the few people below and asked, "What’s the situation now?"
"Pope," said a foreigner with curly golden hair, "the situation is dire! Xu Dacheng was captured by Ye Chen, and the mobilized students were persuaded to back down by him, so our plan virtually failed!"
"Damn it!" The old lady was furious, gritting her teeth, "How could this happen?!"
"Pope, the most direct way to deal with Ye Chen is to kill him!" The golden-haired man imdiately suggested, "Let go, I’m quite curious about Ye Chen, I want to see what he’s capable of!"
"No!" The old lady imdiately shook her head, saying, "Jas, Ye Chen is very powerful. Although you’re the Western Boxing Champion, you’re still a long way from Ye Chen’s level!"
"Please let confront him!" Jas, who had fought all over Europe, had no match. He longed for a worthy opponent. Not long ago, he t an elderly oriental lady. Initially dismissive, he later respected her deeply upon learning she was the Pope of the Church Court.
Though respectful, Jas wasn’t easily subdued. The old lady proposed a match on the stage. Jas initially found it amusing to fight an elderly woman, but under her insistence, he decided to face her, only to be astonished by her strength after being beaten in three moves. This impression led to his voluntary allegiance.
The old lady’s ability to earn his submission was no surprise. However, her fear of Ye Chen intrigued him. Why was she terrified enough to consider capturing Ye Chen’s woman as a leverage point? Jas, being straightforward, disliked such sches, but he couldn’t stop the old lady from implenting her plans. He could only propose to face Ye Chen himself.
