590: The unexpected death.

590: The unexpected death.

In the middle of the night, the captain was awoken by a ringing of his phone, the ergency line to be specific.

It was not just his phone but the watch on his arm too sent out an alert.

An alert on the watch was never a good thing especially lately because it ant there was an ongoing attack sowhere.

As he jumped out of bed, he noticed that the alert was not reporting an attack so his heart relaxed.

He tapped his ear and activated all of his communication devices.

“What is the ergency?

Is Tai Alix okay?” On the other end of the call was Abby Chung who was standing inside Wukong’s bedroom.

Abby’s eyebrows drew closer together, surprised that Alix’s well being was the first thing to co into the captains mind at the sight of an ergency text.

Was it because of the world bureau presidency affairs?

Or was it related to the six families?

“It’s not her, Wukong is dead.” he answered, straightforward.

“Shit!

you don’t say.” The captain’s feet froze as did his hand that was about to turn the door handle.

“Can you repeat what you just said?” “Wukong is dead, i am standing in his house, inside his bedroom.

It looks like he had a heart attack after ingesting an unidentified drug, that is the dical examiners conclusion anyway at first glance.

The drugs are on his bedside table and there are so residues on his nose and mouth.

I am having his body transferred to the city as we speak for further examination.” Abby provided a more detailed explanation.

“Crap..fuck..why now?” the captain bellowed.

There had been a lot of activity lately, Wukong’s death….the captain did not even know how it was going to be handled.

He could hardly string together a proper plan.

Even then, Alix’s face popped into her mind.

Wukong had spoken to her just recently, bragged to so people about making her his dragon bitch and now he was dead.

Was this a coincidence?

“Please tell that there is no trace of smoke in his house or claw marks on his body.” The captain did a silly thing he had never done before, crossed his fingers.

“No smoke and no claw marks.” Abby assured him.

The captain let out a big sigh of relief.

Alix and her cat were not involved at least.

Abby scoffed at the loud relief his captain expressed and continued on, reporting his findings.

“The windows were locked tight from the inside when my team arrived.

His security systems are all activated and there an no signs of an intruder.

Security footage of his last movents shows him returning ho imdiately after the violin concert.

His last call was to a business partner in Hong Kong and it lasted ten minutes which proves that he was alive for a while.

His last text was a ssage arranging for female company tomorrow, to a wedding.

He was planning to attend Tai Alix’s wedding although i don’t think he was on the guest list.

The bathroom is still damp so he took a shower and even had a glass of wine.

From all appearances, the death is a result of a drug overdose or poisoning from this unknown drug.

We will know more after an autopsy is conducted.” The captain pulled on his shoes hastily, in a hurry to go and take a look at the cri scene.

“Do not tamper with anything unnecessarily, i am coming over?” Abby stopped the captain aa it would be a wasted trip.

“I don’t know why you would co here, there is nothing to find here.

The hypnotist is already questioning the servants and security guards but there answers are consistent.

He returned ho, went to his bedroom, ordered for a glass of wine and turned in for the night.

Three hours later, one of the dogs alerted everyone to the bedroom door by barking persistently.

When they forced the door open, his body was discovered and our people contacted us imdiately.” The captain clenched his right hand into a fist for a mont, wondering how to proceed.

With Abby at the scene, it was true that his presence was unnecessary, what could he discover that the detective with a system could not.

It was best to stay back here and control the narrative.

Wukong was unmarried and he had no known children.

He was also an orphan that had cut off ties with his living relatives who maltreated him in the past.

His wealth was of great use to the bureau.

It could be considered a donation to make up for all the dirty things he engaged in which they covered up for him because the higher ups wanted it that way.

Maybe it was actually a good thing that he was dead, he was a risk in the long run.

They had also suspected him of collaborating with the dark side but there was no evidence.

Now was the ti to dig deeper into his movents and see what could be unturned.

The captain consolidated his thoughts and nodded.

Indeed, it was best to first handle financial matters and look through all of Wukong’s communications to see what he had been up to.

“Fine, wrap things up cleanly on your end and et in the large surveillance room.

Rember to collect everything from his house that could lead back to the city or systems.

Also, make sure that you bring up all the usual goods, it can be considered his last tribute.” Abby scoffed when he heard the last order.

What tribute!

they were going to strip Wukong’s house bare and take away all the valuables.

“Yes sir.” he answered obediently.

As soon as he hung up, he called Yi Sao and told her to begin doing her job.

The mont the dical examiner confird cause of death, she would have to break the news to the press.

Wukong had been a wealthy young man, many would want to know his cause of death.

After calling Yi Sao he called Alix, he didn’t know if she was connected but she needed to hear about this from him.

It was not Alix that answered the call but Caishen.

“Why are you calling my wife at this ti of the night?

Has there been another attack?

Is it really sothing you guys can’t handle?

This is her full first night’s sleep in three days, unless it’s life or death, i would rather she not be involved.” “You are great at guessing, it’s death, Wukong is dead.” “Good.” Caishen replied dryly and he hung up.
