475: A reason to cry.

475: A reason to cry.

After a long night of talking, both husband and wife slept in.

Caishen woke up at nine and he went out jogging, sothing he was looking forward to after being stuck in a wheelchair for so many eyes.

Alix, his lazy wife opened her eyes an hour later, took a bath and went looking for sothing to fill her stomach.

Nanny Luo spotted her coming to the kitchen and diverted her to the dining room imdiately.

“Everything is already prepared.

Call your mother as soon as you are finished eating, she keeps calling every thirty minutes and insisting i check on you.” “Yes nanny.” She kissed the older woman on the cheek.

“Thank you for breakfast.” She rushed into the dining room and found Caishen at the table speaking to professor He.

Hunger overrode all curiosity and she sat down, reaching for the bread imdiately.

“Goodmorning doctor.” she took a big bite of the freshly baked moist banana bread.

The professor was having breakfast as well, eating a scone elegantly by taking small bites and chewing slowly.

“Hello Alix, you are in a good mood today.” Alix nodded.

“Winter is almost over, i am the national violin champion, i am eating banana bread, my husband went jogging, my brothers are my heroes, my parents love , my siblings are clever, cute and sweet.

Business is flourishing, my health is fine, my wedding is only a few weeks away….” she raised her arms halfway, leaving the half eaten bread slice to dangle from her mouth like a dog carrying a piece of at.

She caught the bread and shrugged.

“Life is good doc, so good.

In fact, i am taking up your suggestion to engage in charity since i feel so blessed.

My friends and i will be teaching music and playing different instrunts to the sick children at a hospital after lunch today.” “You didn’t tell that.” Caishen said.

“Didn’t i?” she frowned.

“I think i did.” Her mind was certain that she had done so and the confusion caused her to wrinkle nose and move it around.

Professor He didn’t really care if Alix had shared her plans with her husband at the mont.

While she usually fixated on every little aspect of her clients life as a personal therapist, there were major issues and minor issues.

This seed minor and she wanted the major.

“I have been inford that you cried because another potential bride helped herself to your shoes.

Your husband called because he is worried about you.” Alix took a sip of milk and shot Caishen a small glare.

He averted his eyes and looked at the wall.

“An emotional outburst towards a wedding or during the preparation of a wedding is sothing major.

It can be indicative of sothing much larger below the surface.

You have already ntioned your upcoming wedding so i feel like we should discuss it.

How do you feel about it?” “Excited.” Alix responded absentmindedly as she sared a chocolate spread on another slice of banana bread.

Professor He nodded.

“Yes, you ntioned it earlier among the reasons for your joy this morning.

Is your excitent because you are having a wedding or is it because you are marrying Zhang Caishen.” “Both but mostly the second.” Alix answered easily.

Caishen smiled and pushed a plate of butter cookies her way.

That was not enough, he pushed a chocolate muffin and so cookies as well.

Her answer alone made him feel like it was worth it to invite the professor over this morning.

“Honey, eat.” he whispered.

She smiled bashfully and picked up the muffin.

“Thank you.” she answered with a big grin on her face.

Professor He ignored the behavior they were displaying and went on with her job.

She intended to leave only after understanding the true reason behind Alix’s tears and hopefully, fixing it.

“Is there anything about your wedding that is making you feel anxious?” Alix nodded.

“My dress could rip, a heel could break when my father is walking down the aisle and i fall down and embarrass myself in front of all those people.

I could wake up and discover that the wedding, this life…,” She turned her head to Caishen.

“This man and all i have now is a dream.

But none of that is the reason why i cried.” “Why did you cry?” the professor asked directly.

“Maybe i just needed to cry, sotis people don’t need a reason to cry professor.” she laughed.

“You are avoiding, we have talked about this relentlessly Alix.

You cannot avoid it, you must face it head on in order to move on.

What is it about those shoes that resulted in an outburst?

Was it the shoes themselves or sothing else like another woman wearing them that elicited that reaction from you?” Alix bit into the muffin and chewed slowly while the professor waited for her answer patiently.

It took her two minutes to co up with a response.

“When i was young, whenever i got sothing nice, Billi would take it from .

It didn’t matter if it was sothing my mother had bought or made for before she died, Billi claid them all until i was left with nothing.

I think it was from that ti that i ended up becoming overprotective of my things.” She lifted her eyes and took a deep breath.

“They were my shoes, that woman had no right to put her ugly feet inside them.

I guess i was angry and frustrated.” Professor He bit her bottom lip and nodded.

She understood where Alix was coming from.

These were pent up feelings of resentnt and anger stored from an early age.

“I sense sothing else as well, what are you holding back?” Alix pursed her lips.

“You are like a bomb sniffing dog.” she muttered.

“I like that comparison.” professor He laughed.

“I am sniffing for bombs that could explode in the wrong areas of your life and affect you.

If we can locate and detonate them now, many lives will be spared, yours inclusive.” Caishen slipped his hand into Alix’s to show her that he was supporting her, no matter what was said.

Again, Alix sighed and surrendered.

“At our first wedding, i wore ill fitting shoes, they were not mine but Billi’s.

Those shoes dug into my flesh, caused blisters on my skin and made bleed.

I was in pain when i walked down the aisle and nobody knew, cared, or noticed.

Seeing that woman in my shoes took back to that day, to that mont.

All i could think was that i didn’t want to go back there because i have been working hard to run from those people, never to accept Billi’s hand downs.

I also pitied myself because finally i had nice shoes but soone had stolen them, it was happening again, people stealing from .

I felt disgusted at the thought of having to wear shoes another woman had already worn to a wedding, my wedding, again.

I also think that woman was lucky that all i did was hide in my mother’s arms and cry because she reminded so much of Lin Billi and all I wanted to grab her neck and snap it.” She clenched her hands and with the right one crumbled the half eaten muffin.
