The matter of exchanging captured intelligence personnel was already brought up by the other side when Luo Ziling first ca into contact with the people from the intelligence departnt.

Luo Ziling felt that Ishihara Tarou wielded enormous influence in Japan, and since his son was still the head of an important departnt in the intelligence service, using threats against Ishihara Tarou to achieve a spy swap shouldn't be difficult, so he agreed.

However, the toughness and complexity of the negotiations went far beyond what Luo Ziling had imagined, and they dragged on for much longer.

That said, this intelligence officer nad Wu Shanggao was actually quite capable, and in the clash with Ishihara Tarou he maintained the initiative throughout the talks. With Luo Ziling's support on top of that, Ishihara Tarou finally accepted the condition.

If the exchange succeeded, the matter of Ishihara Naka taking part in espionage activities would be glossed over.

He would be able to stay on in Huaxia and continue studying acupuncture at Luo Ziling's side.

The intelligence officer detained by Japan was extrely important, so the intelligence departnt had been trying to get him back all along, but without success.

If this problem could be solved through this round of negotiations, many people would finally be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

Luo Ziling had helped them out, and Wu Shanggao was quite grateful.

Luo Ziling had helped them more than once, and they had also helped Luo Ziling before; it could be said the two sides were mutually beneficial.

Of course Luo Ziling hoped to get to know people on the secret front; after all, that could only be good for him and Ling Ruonan, with no downside.

After the negotiations ended, Luo Ziling went straight ho.

Originally, he and Ling Ruonan had agreed to go to Ling Mingrui's place for dinner today, but because of the matters involving Ishihara Tarou and Xu Chongzhi they had been delayed and could only postpone it. Fortunately, Ling Mingrui also had sothing co up today and didn't go ho for dinner.

After her talks with Ishihara Tarou wrapped up, Ling Ruonan t with Xu Chongzhi again.

Ling Ruonan, representing the Northern Group, signed more cooperation agreents with the Xu Family.

The cooperation agreents covered real estate developnt, tourism developnt, pharmaceuticals, finance and other areas, with an estimated scale of several billion.

This was, of course, a major deal; if fully implented, it could bring the Northern Group at least several hundred million in profit every year.

"Mom, when they do stupid things, that's our chance to pick up bargains," Luo Ziling grinned as he said this while discussing the day's events with Ling Ruonan after they got ho. "It's a pity that Xu Chongzhi's grandson rarely does stupid things. When working with the Xu Family, we can't really take advantage of them."

"We didn't really take much advantage of the Ishihara Family this ti either." Ling Ruonan sighed. "The real bargain was taken by the intelligence departnt."

"They'll give us returns!" Luo Ziling chuckled. "If they help us at critical monts, the gains might be very impressive."

Ling Ruonan nodded and didn't complain further.

Over the next two days, Luo Ziling accompanied Ling Ruonan to sit down with Ishihara Tarou and Xu Chongzhi several more tis, and after signing a few new agreents, the two old n returned to their countries.

After things settled down, Ling Ruonan had originally wanted to take Luo Ziling to see Ling Mingrui and talk to him in detail about so matters.

But in the following two days, Ling Mingrui had his own business to attend to, and they were also busy with their own affairs, so they didn't go over.

During these two days, Chen Yijing didn't contact Luo Ziling or Ling Ruonan; no one knew what he was busy with.

Luo Ziling knew very well that it was probably the thods Wuyue used that were taking effect.

Wuyue had people spread a lot of black material about the Chen Family targeting Luo Ziling and Ling Ruonan.

The Chen Family hated Luo Ziling and Ling Ruonan to the bone and were bent on eliminating them, so they repeatedly plotted assassination attempts.

These posts kept popping up online; although they didn't stay up for long and were quickly deleted, they still caused a huge reaction.

On Luo Ziling's Weibo, many people left comnts asking whether these things were true and whether the Chen Family was really trying to wipe them out.

Previously, the incident where the Chen Family people wanted to make a move against them in the Northwest had been hyped online for a while, but as ti passed the heat had gradually faded. Once the black material Wuyue spread ca out, the heat surged back again.

There were even posts claiming that the Chen Family would definitely continue playing dirty tricks and wouldn't stop until they had ruined Luo Ziling's reputation or killed him.

Although the original posts were quickly deleted, many people took screenshots.

Those screenshots spread rapidly in Monts and on Weibo, and they were on the trending list almost every day.

This situation naturally put imnse pressure on the Chen Family.

They also understood that this was definitely done at the instigation of Luo Ziling or Ling Ruonan. Chen Ruchang and Chen Yijing even suspected that this was Ling Ruonan or Luo Ziling having seen through their "plot" and making a countermove.

Under such circumstances, they couldn't very well thicken their skin and go looking for Ling Ruonan or Luo Ziling again, hoping that Luo Ziling or Luo Liansheng would co treat Chen Ruchang. Chen Ruchang and Chen Yijing also interpreted this as Ling Ruonan and Luo Ziling being displeased with them and taking asures in response, so there was no way they could continue following their original strategy; they had to adjust their approach.

Whether or not Chen Yijing's proposal was a trap, Luo Ziling had once again seized the initiative.

Yang Qingyin's suggestion had produced quite a good effect, and Luo Ziling was quite pleased.

Ling Ruonan had no idea that Luo Ziling had already taken counterasures.

She had been worried this matter would be hard to handle and hadn't expected Luo Ziling to have already taken steps to strike back.

After seeing that Luo Ziling's counterattack strategy had worked, Ling Ruonan also breathed a sigh of relief.

She didn't contact Chen Yijing.

In dealings with the Chen Family people, she would not be the one to take the initiative.

Given the current situation, it was the Chen Family who should be anxious, not them.

In the blink of an eye, it was the weekend.

It was mid-September; although the South hadn't officially entered autumn yet, the weather was no longer that scorching.

According to the weather forecast, on Friday night a typhoon would affect the offshore area of Jiangzhe and bring cooler weather.

On Thursday, Luo Ziling asked Yang Qingyin if she wanted to make a run to Hengdian over the weekend to visit Luo Yuqing and the others on set.

Yang Qingyin hadn't really wanted to go at first, because it was too hot in the South.

But under Luo Ziling's coaxing, she eventually agreed.

So the two of them took a plane on Friday afternoon to Wu Shang, and from Wu Shang they would transfer on to Hengdian.

Their flight was at four in the afternoon.

Fortunately, the plane wasn't delayed and arrived at Wushang Airport almost on ti.

By the ti they landed at Wushang Airport, it was already six-thirty in the evening.

What Luo Ziling hadn't expected was that as soon as the flight he was on arrived in Wu Shang and his phone was turned back on, he received a call from Chen Yijing.

On the phone, Chen Yijing told Luo Ziling that he wanted to et him and talk about so things face-to-face.

"Uncle, bad timing—I'm not in Yanjing," Luo Ziling, though surprised, still "honestly" explained the situation. "My sister is filming in Hengdian, and this project is the first big-budget drama we've invested in since acquiring Qingniao dia, so none of us dare slack off; we're personally handling a lot of the arrangents. If there's anything, let's talk when I'm back in Yanjing!"

On the other end of the line, Chen Yijing was silent for a while, then asked, "About when will you be back?"

"Depends on how things go. Maybe two or three days, but if sothing unexpected cos up, it could be a week or ten days."

On the other end, Chen Yijing didn't say anything more; after expressing his regret, he hung up.
