Chapter 212: Darkness (2)
Yet, Khal did not let himself wallow in such emotions for more than a few seconds. While tears silently trickled down his bloodshot eyes, he continued with his work.
Tending to Devion for years had made him an expert in these things; although there was another person he had to take care of, that was hardly an issue for him.
One thing was also that Devion was not in the usual relapse where he wanted to harm himself, and so Khal could fully commit to utilizing the miraculous jar of life.
Ignoring his own condition, with an ashen face, Khal gathered the water just as usual. His sweat and tears mixed, and the mana around him surged.
He first treated Devion simply because his condition was worse. While he did not know what happened during the guiding session, Khal would not risk the curse taking advantage of Devion’s weakness.
Not waiting for Devion to stabilize, Khal forced himself to do the sa for Ayen. His lips turned blue, and he already felt weak; Khal once more disregarded his own situation.
With trembling fingers, he manipulated the water with full concentration. It was more than just mana exhaustion, as it also needed his ntal fortitude.
This was the first ti that Khal had done the sa dicine twice. Just one drop was enough for him to collapse, and yet he did not know where he got the will to also create another one.
He was not thinking much about anything else but the two people in critical condition.
Khal soon let Ayen consu the drop of water. Once he did, Khal’s eyes buckled, and he let himself kneel on the ground, his hand gripping the corner of the couch, breathing heavily.
Calming himself down and resting for a bit, Khal slowly gets up. He could not let the two be sticky with blood and had to put them in the bed so they could rest.
Khal beca busy, ignoring his own weakness. He almost faltered when he lifted Devion, but quickly stabilized himself. He accidentally put extra weight in his hand when he put it at the back of the couch, causing a slight pain.
They were minor, and so Khal continued. This ti, slowly, lest he actually tumble on his knees, and Devion would fall on the ground.
He did not go to the shower, but Devion needed more than just a wipe because of the blood in his whole body. It was not for long; he wiped Devion and put so casual clothes on him before he settled him in the bed.
Usually, once Devion was in this condition, Khal would feel too reluctant to leave him. He was afraid that the curse would erupt once more.
However, he only looked back once and continued to the living room. Khal still decided to just not wipe the blood off Ayen and washed him because of the sweat, which the guide would find uncomfortable once he woke up.
There was no desire, or anything; his whole mind was focused like a machine on every little thing he did.
Khal carefully settled Ayen beside Devion. Their faces were now clean, devoid of the blood, and the scent had lessened. After all, Khal’s shirt, which he stripped off at so point, and his pants still lingered with the scent of the blood.
He stared at the two who were now sleeping peacefully, as though nothing had happened and they did not make Khal’s world tremble from fear.
Looking at them, he cald down sowhat. As long as the blood was cleaned off and the drop of water did its thing... Everything would be alright.
Right. Everything was going to be alright.
Khal’s shoulders dropped, and he slumped on the ground, not wanting to disturb the two if the bed bounced by sitting on it.
He let out the breath that had been making his chest stiff, and the weakness flooded him at once.
The darkness stemd from fear that gripped his heart, and Khal’s vision slowly beca blurred until it was nothing but darkness.
He could not see a damn thing. Yet, he did not panic. Obviously, this was not the first ti.
Khal leaned on the bed, stretching one of his legs on the ground while his knees propped up. He let his breathing calm down and slowly stabilized himself.
His eyes stung, but he did not close them and looked ahead of him despite not seeing anything.
The silence went on, his breathing becoming prominent.
He was just exhausted twice as usual.
The effect would probably last longer than usual. aning, his vision would return a little later. Fortunately, the two were asleep, and so there was no need to worry about that.
Khal leaned his head to the bed, neck arched, and now he was facing the ceiling. His eyes blinked, and drops of tears trickled with the flutter of his eyelashes.
He did not suppress it.
Sotis, he just lets himself beco vulnerable. It helped. But when it was not, Khal could only let it pass. There was nothing he could do about that.
He did not know the results and was even more afraid to find out.
Slowly, Khal closed his eyes. His hand continued to twitch, and his eyes ached. In tis like this, he always tried to clear his mind, and soon they would wander, but sleep never visited him.
It was not that Khal would want to sleep in this situation either.
A few hours later, Devion was the first to wake up, and only a few minutes later, Ayen followed.
Ayen felt groggy and weak. There was still a tallic taste in his mouth, and he rembered quite quickly what had happened. The first one he saw was Devion, who was also looking at him.
Their eyes t, unable to say anything. Their attention was soon drawn to Khal, who greeted them.
"Do you need anything?" he asked, tone low.
Ayen was comfortable, feeling a backlash coming. However, he could not help frowning after seeing Khal.
"You..." Devion sighed and reached out to drag Khal closer, causing the other to sit on the bed. Devion touched Khal’s face, expression filled with concern. "Rest now, please..."
