Chapter 145: The Horror Under The Sea (7)

"Did you notice sothing?" Khal asked Devion because he was the one damaging the vortexes.

Devion rubbed his chin, his thoughts focused on the scene from earlier. When he damaged the vortexes, they always regrouped imdiately.

He had no ti to analyze it either, as he was concentrating on running and thinking of counterasures. The first whirlpools arrived and then multiplied and rged after a while... Wait.

"Are the first vortexes the main entity?" Devion raised the issue, explaining that he only struck the huge vortexes, which were also the first few ones that chased them.

They were damaged but were still regrouping to the sa vortexes again.

"It’s possible." Khal did not dismiss the idea.

They mainly discuss how to deal with the vortexes because the waves are easier to combat.

The dungeon was the trickiest they encountered. It made sense for it to be an SS-class dungeon.

After a few back and forths, Khal and Devion finally decided to deal with the vortex according to their assumption. With that plan in mind, they began their preparation to leave.

Once Ayen mastered this ability, then he would have such portable space. It was not that flexible but truly helpful.

"You’ll be okay here?"

"Uhn! Don’t worry, big brother." Aegi was used to it. "But," he looked at Ayen and tugged at his clothes. "Visit , too..."

Ayen pinched Aegi’s cheek, sothing he had always wanted and promised.

"I will." The corner of his lips lifted slightly.

The space flickered, and Ayen could clearly perceive how Aegi’s power withdrew. Until the familiar scenery appeared.

It was still the sa landscape and the vortexes that road about.

"Whoa. They multiplied again!" Devion whistled, lightning crackled in his fist, his grin widening.

Ayen had always been known. Devion was a battle maniac, but he had yet to see him truly go all out. It seed this would be the first ti.

It was not long, and the vortexes finally sensed their arrival. The whole dungeon beca alive, the wind picked up, and the vortexes began to approach them again.

Devion rolled his neck and stretched his arms over his head. He then glanced at Khal and Ayen, as though asking for permission. His pupils had long since glowed red.

It was so different from the image that Devion had in Ayen’s mind.

He was like... an angel who fell from grace.

Khal grinned, his own fighting spirit lifted in response to Devion’s.

"Go. I’ll take care of Ayen."

Devion glanced at Ayen, who also nodded.

Devion was crazier than Khal on the battlefield. His body craved it. Usually, Khal would never let him be that reckless because of the curse.

Now, they had Ayen. For the first ti in a while, Khal would be able to see Devion go wild once more.

Devion’s pupils sparkled with battle intent; the mana around him surged. After getting his permission and assurance, he stared at the vortexes approaching them.

Lighting flickered in his hands and on his feet before Ayen could react; Devion’s body vanished. It was only a split second, and he was already in front of one gigantic vortex.

The mana in the air collided. Devion’s body effortlessly moved as if he were only playing. At first, he could still see his afterimages until Ayen could not do so anymore.

Yet, each ti, vortexes collapsed into multiples once more. They began to rge again, but Devion did not seem to care as he continued to damage them.

Devion’s plan was simple. Damage it enough until they finally show their weakness. Doing this before was impossible; Devion mostly tried to kill the enemies more efficiently. But now, he could afford to waste mana because he now had a guide!

"Let’s go too. Can’t let Devion all have the fun." Khal wrapped his arm around Ayen.

He raised his hand, and the wave that suddenly appeared instantly beca frozen. Khal looked up, and Ayen did the sa.

Ayen blinked and his mouth parted.

"So, you finally show yourself," Khal mumbled, his tone calm, but his oppressive mana said otherwise.

Above them at sea, gigantic whirlpools ford two eyes, looking down at them.

Ayen slowly found himself floating; when he looked down, he saw that they were now standing on an ice block. He rembered that Khal could make a mobile bridge.

The reason Khal had not used them when they were fleeing was that it required precision to manipulate particles in the atmosphere and freeze them.

It was not cost-effective, especially when it wore him out so quickly.

Now, back at his peak after a guiding session, Khal directly used this to be more flexible fighting while protecting Ayen.

Khal’s fighting style, in a sense, was calr than Devion’s. The waves were frozen before they could even approach the two.

Ayen watched back and forth; Khal was dominant in his battle. As long as it had sothing he could freeze, they were nothing in his eyes.

On Devion’s side, it was chaotic to say the least. There was no blood, but the bloodlust in Devion’s gaze had already reached its peak.

He was tearing down the vortexes effortlessly. The frustration of being chased earlier made Devion crazier; before they could regroup, Devion’s huge force field already spread to the surrounding area.

Lightning struck everywhere. And it ca from the ground, the sky helping Devion instead. He continued to wear down this vortex and find its weakness.

It would take so ti.

The eyes above were still there, watching. Ayen did not know, but he felt the gaze on him. He shivered, which Khal noticed.

"What’s wrong?"

Ayen leaned closer to him. "I don’t know."

Khal frowned; he glanced around, and then he looked up. His eyes stared at the eyes...

"Is it you?" Khal mumbled.

For so reason, he had a hunch that it could understand him.

He pulled Ayen to him.

At so point, the waves had already stopped coming. Since it was useless. As long as Ayen was there, Khal and Devion could recklessly use their mana without repercussions.

It would only need one guiding session, or a few more. Then they would co back to their peak.

Soon, a new colossal vortex appeared.

This ti, it was obviously the mouth.

"Need." It spoke, dreadful to the ears, and Ayen’s expression twisted. Khal quickly enveloped Ayen with his mana.

Not far from them, Devion paused; he also heard it. His red pupils looked up.

The vortexes could finally take a breath.

"Need. Need."

The mouth repeated over and over again, gaze locked to Ayen.

They could understand it.

The monster needed Ayen.
