Chapter 109: Curse Wavelength (1)
"What’s the na of your body?" Ayen could only ask what he first thought of. There was no need to overly think about it either.
Devion seed to have thought of it before answering.
"Friz?" He sounded unsure. Ayen did not press him and responded.
"This body’s na is Aurelle."
"Mhm, I heard that woman called you by that na."
Their voices were low as they conversed lightly.
"This body seems part of a clan," Ayen only pointed out sothing he assud.
Most clans acted more like elites and modern nobles. While Aurelle’s family seed only part of a small clan, they were still not to be underestimated, and so Diana and the others were quite polite to him.
Elitism was quite rampant in today’s society, the main reason the war against the governnt was happening in the first place.
"Oh. Must be a small clan then." Devion lacked interest in his voice.
Most dium-sized clans thrived in a bigger city; only collateral branches or small clans would be assigned to a small town. In ordinary people’s eyes, mbers of the clans were soone they could not afford.
However, for Devion, they were not that different from ordinary people. Their only advantage was their influence.
Ayen then spoke about the circumstances of this body and his brother. He only regarded it as a small incident, but Devion frowned.
"You spared his life?"
Ayen nodded. "For now. He didn’t hurt
yet."
The one they plotted against was Aurelle, and not yet Ayen in Aurelle’s body.
Devion also understood it. He was still displeased, but he let Ayen deal with it. They wanted to always protect Ayen, but they were also aware that Ayen would ask for their help if he could not handle an enemy.
Just like with the Nevaris Clan. A small-ti mob was not worth their attention. Ayen did not want them to treat him as delicate and fragile, who would shatter with one flick; Khal and Devion respected that.
They fell silent again. The reason was Devion tightening his hold on Ayen. Ayen, who was about to say sothing, paused and closed his mouth.
He briefly closed his eyes before opening them again, holding Devion tightly in return.
"Let
guide you," Ayen whispered; fortunately enough, his voice did not shake.
He did not know what to do in this situation, but there was only sothing he could help with, and that was to guide Devion. It might not help much with the curse, but he hoped guiding him would help suppress it until they find Khal and resolve their predicant.
Returning to their bodies was now the number one priority.
"Yes, please." Devion bit his lips and closed his eyes. His breathing beca chaotic, and Ayen could feel his hands fidgeting around Ayen’s waist.
It was as though he wanted to do sothing but was restraining himself. Ayen stopped observing and imdiately went into action.
Ayen was not sure if being in different bodies affected their compatibility. He did not stop his actions as he simultaneously thought of these doubts.
He activated his wavelength and connected with Devion’s.
Ayen’s brow arched in surprise. It turned out everything was the sa, except their bodies. In other words, their mana walevengths were very much compatible as ever.
Ayen’s sensitivity was like how Devion felt the restrictions on his ability, being suppressed by his current physical body. The mont that he connected with Devion’s wavelength, Ayen felt Devion’s body relaxing.
A contented sigh also escaped from Devion’s lips, and his hold loosened slightly. Ayen’s expression softened, and he too released a sigh of relief.
He continued to stroke the strands of Devion’s hair as he let his guiding energy circulate inside Devion’s body and clean the impurities and mana toxins of his current body.
That was not all. Ayen discovered sothing, and he blinked, frowning slightly.
What was it? Ayen swore he had not sensed this before. He felt his guiding energy accidentally pouring into sowhere, but they scattered and did not fully explore it.
Ayen had not discovered it before, but maybe because Devion was in a different body that was incompatible with his real self, Ayen noticed it.
The sa thing probably happened before, but it was barely noticeable because Devion’s body could accommodate most of the guiding energy he was pouring through their connection.
This ti, Devion’s body was that of an A-class esper, but his wavelengths were still those of an SS-class esper, though they were suppressed.
Ayen had almost let his guiding energy lead the flow instinctively most of the ti, and he was used to giving the sa amount that an SS-class esper needed to be fully satisfied.
Now, this flow surged and almost flooded inside, wanting to thoroughly cleanse the mana toxins, but was suddenly blocked by sothing because of the limitation of Devion’s current body.
His guiding energy then found the anomaly within Devion, planning to explore and cleanse it as well.
What is it?
Ayen was inwardly confused. This was his first ti encountering sothing like this. He closed his eyes and planned to sense it further.
This ti, Ayen focused on that part and led his guiding energy around it. He probed first, finding it was the sa but also different from the esper’s mana wavelength.
Wait, why did Devion have it on his body? Did Khal also have the sa thing since they were SS-class espers?
Yet, he had to abandon this idea.
He was quite startled and withdrew his guiding energy. His expression twisted with pain as he abruptly opened his eyes, his chest heaving.
Devion was the sa; he lifted his head and looked at Ayen with shock. However, the questions he was about to ask beca stuck in his throat, and he looked at Ayen in worry.
"Ayen, are you okay?" Devion touched and wiped the beads of sweat that appeared on Ayen’s forehead. "You..." Devion swallowed the words again, his eyes complicated. "What did you do?"
Ayen let out a deep breath; he looked at Devion in the eye.
The mont Ayen touched that peculiar wavelength, or whatever it was, he felt its counterattack.
It resisted his guiding energy.
That was so... strange.
Though it was quite painful, it was bearable at least.
"Do you feel it?" Instead of answering, Ayen asked. His eyes were not leaving Devion. "It’s the curse, isn’t it?
