"Just where did he run off to, we are going to be late." Luna said, tapping her fingers on the table in annoyance.

Vess and Selene weren’t too worried, they knew he could take care of himself. "I am sure he will be back soon. In the anti, we should discuss about the academy." Vess said, putting the invitation on the table. "I can’t go in with you guys, neither can you Luna, we are both past the age of that."

Selene looked at them without a word, "how old is Luther anyways?"

They froze as they realized they don’t know his age. "Seriously, you have been with him for that long but still don’t know his age? You guys are full of surprises." Selene thought, getting up to go order a pie.

On her way, she stumbled forward as soone stuck out their foot in her path. She crashed into a nearby table, knocking over several drinks. The liquid splashed across the table and onto the laps of four large n seated there.

"I’m so sorry!" she exclaid, her face turning red with embarrassnt. She quickly grabbed so napkins from a nearby table and tried to help clean up the ss.

"Look what you’ve done, you clumsy girl," one of the n growled. He was the biggest of the four, with broad shoulders and a an look in his eyes. "These clothes weren’t cheap."

"I’m really sorry," she repeated, still trying to help. "I tripped on sothing. I’ll pay for the drinks and any cleaning you need."

The n exchanged smirks. The one sitting closest to her grabbed her wrist tightly.

"Money isn’t what we want," he said, his voice low and threatening. "Pretty little thing like you should offer sothing more... personal as an apology."

She tried to pull her hand away, but his grip was too strong. "Please let go. I said I’d pay for the damage."

"We don’t want your money," another man said, standing up. He was slightly shorter than the first but just as muscular. "Why don’t you co sit with us for a while? Keep us company."

"I need to get back to my friends," she said firmly, though her voice trembled slightly.

The man holding her wrist pulled her closer. "Your friends can wait. We’re the ones with wet clothes here."

The third man patted the empty seat beside him. "Sit down. Have a drink with us. It’s the least you could do after ruining our evening."

She looked around desperately. The tavern was crowded, but no one seed to be paying attention to what was happening.

"Haah, I hate fucking n like you." Her tone suddenly shifted.

"What did you jus-" Before he could finish, the man who held her wrist crashed into the wall. Everyone in the tavern turned to look at what happened.

The other three n stood up quickly, their faces red with anger.

"You little bitch!" one of them shouted. "You’ll pay for that!"

She stood there calmly. Her eyes were cold as she watched them. "I said I was sorry for the drinks. But I won’t be sorry for defending myself."

The biggest man charged at her, swinging his fist. She jumped in the air, spun around and kicked him away into the wall, cracking it. She landed gracefully, looking at them with cold eyes.

"Get the fuck out of my sight!"

The man looked at each other and ran out of the store. Vess and Luna watched from a far, not really worried. Her whole mood was now ruined and she just went back to their table.

"People can be so annoying." She said, taking an aggressive sip from her cup.

"Yeah, you should have kick them in the ba-" The ground suddenly began trembling, like an earthquake. Everyone ran outside to see what was going on and upon arriving, there were t with building collapsing.

"What is happening?" Luna asked, looking around as the building continued to collapse, left and right.

Then suddenly, everyone in the city felt it, a powerful presence, so twisted, one that could only belong to a monster.

People ran screaming through the streets as guards tried to maintain order, but panic had already taken over.

The girls sensed it and looked up to see what was causing this destruction. Their eyes widened in shock.

Rising from the eastern part of the city was a massive worm-like creature. It towered over the buildings, its body as thick as a small house. Its skin was dark green and slimy, covered with dozens of glowing yellow spots.

"What in the goddess’s na is that?" Luna gasped, her hand instinctively reaching for her weapon.

As if answering her question, one of the glowing spots on the worm’s body suddenly brightened and shot out a beam of yellow light. The beam cut through three buildings at once, lting stone and wood alike. Where the light touched, green smoke rose from the ruins.

"Don’t breathe that in!" Vess shouted, pulling her sleeve over her mouth. "Those beams are poisonous!"

They watched in horror as people who had been caught too close to the beam collapsed, their skin turning purple as the poison took effect.

"We need to evacuate the civilians," Selene said, her earlier annoyance forgotten. "The guards won’t be able to handle this alone."

Another beam shot out from the creature, this ti hitting the city’s water tower. The structure exploded, sending poisoned water flooding through the streets.

"Luna, use your power to create barriers where you can," Vess commanded. "Selene and I will help people get to safety."

She nodded and ran toward the worm, her hands already glowing with divine energy. Vess and Selene split up, each heading to different parts of the crowded streets.

"Everyone move to the western gate!" Vess shouted as she ran. "Stay away from the green smoke!"

Selene jumped onto a cart to get people’s attention. "Follow the guards! Cover your mouths and noses!"

The worm continued its assault, its body twisting through the city like a massive snake. Wherever it moved, buildings collapsed under its weight. The glowing spots along its body pulsed in sequence, firing beams in all directions.

Luna managed to create a barrier just in ti to block a beam that was heading toward a group of children. The barrier absorbed the deadly light, but the effort made her stagger backward.

"I can’t keep this up for long!" she shouted to no one in particular. "Where the hell are the hunters when you need them?"

A group of robed figures appeared on the rooftops. They began casting spells at the worm, but their magic seed to barely affect the creature. One of their fireballs hit a glowing spot directly, but instead of damaging it, the spot absorbed the magic and grew larger.

"No! Don’t use fire magic!" she tried to warn them, but it was too late.

The spot that had absorbed the fireball now shot out an even more powerful beam, cutting the building beneath the mages in half. Their screams were rcifully brief.

"Dammit, this is bad."
