"ugh, my head hurts." Luther said as he woke up alone in a room. "Where is everyone?" He holds his head, the world was still spinning.
"The girls are probably out getting you food."
"Eh? This voice, shitty goddess?" He looked at his left, the goddess was indeed standing there.
"Hi, its been a minute. I see you have proven wrong, seeing how strong you have beco without my blessing." She walked up to him and placed her hand over him, healing him instantly.
"Told you I wouldn’t need your cheat skills. So, what are you doing here, I thought I was the one who had to call you? And you are capable of coming down here?" He got up, stretching his body, he felt like he was new.
"I am not fully here, this is just a connection through, only you can see . It’s against the rules to co down here fully, might get disqualified." She said, looking at him with a proud smile.
"Eugh, why are you looking at like that, its giving the chills."
"You little-" she stopped herself, holding her face in defeat, "anyways, I am just here to check up on you, its like a routine check. We get 1 chance every 3 months, so... I just waited my chance for a while." She sat down on a chair she made out of thin air.
"I ca to congratulate you. You defeated your first demon, even though it was just a puppet, its a big win for us nonetheless." She waved her hand and a table appeared, along with another chair.
"It was no big deal." He said, talking the chair across from her. The mont he said, tea and biscuits appeared on the table. He wasted no ti helping himself. "so that’s a demon huh. They don’t seem so tough."
"Hmph, look at you being so full of yourself as usual." She also began drinking the tea. "It’s a good achievent but don’t be mistaken, that was rely a low ranking demon and even though it used a puppet, it almost killed you."
"Ehhhh, I wouldn’t go that far. Caught off guard nothing else." He had no intention of telling her about his power progression so far, so things are better kept to yourself.
She looked at him with a knowing smile. "Let guess, you are not going to tell about that power you are hiding within you?" He looked at her surprised.
"How did you-" He stopped, realizing how, "fuck, we are connected."
"Yep. I don’t know you even want to keep it from , we are in this together after all. Or is this about you saying you will ruin the system or whatever?"
He heard enough, he got up, put on his gear and began leaving. "Thanks for the check up and healing . See you next ti." He walked out of the room, leaving her alone.
She drank from her cup. "B ," she noted on a system interface with his na on it, like a report card of sorts. She got up and looked at the door, "sorry Luther, you said you don’t want my blessing but I am not the only one who will be giving them out. If you stayed, I would have told you what check ups really ant. Oh well, I am sure he will figure it out."
She then disappeared back to her realm.
After he walked out of the room, he saw a man standing in the hallway. The man was wearing a black outfit from head to toe.
"Excuse ," the man said in a calm voice. "Can I have so of your ti?"
He nodded, still feeling a bit annoyed after his conversation with the goddess.
"I need you to follow ," the man said. "Soone important wants to et you."
He looked at the man carefully. "Who wants to et ?"
"It’s better if he explains himself," the man replied. "It won’t take long."
He thought about it for a mont. He was feeling much better after the goddess healed him, and he was curious about who would want to et him after his fight.
"Fine. Lead the way."
The man nodded and started walking down the hallway. He followed him, wondering what this eting would be about. After his battle with the demon-possessed Korg, he knew things were getting more complicated.
As they walked, he noticed they were heading toward a part of the arena he hadn’t been to before. The hallway beca fancier, with expensive decorations on the walls.
"We’re almost there."
’So annoying. This better not be a waste of my ti.’ He wanted to go get sothing to eat, not whatever this was.
After a few minutes, they arrived at a red door. "He is waiting for you inside."
He looked at the door, back at the man and then went in. The n looked at him, disappointed. ’what does the lord want with soone like him? He doesn’t even have manners to knock.’ The thought, walking away.
After he stepped into the room, he was imdiately struck by how well decorated it was.
The walls were lined with swords of every shape and size, so clearly ancient and others gleaming as if newly forged. Shields bearing unfamiliar crests hung between them, depicting battle scenes covered sections of the walls, their colors still vibrant despite their apparent age.
A strange, pleasant sll filled the air—sothing he had never encountered before. It was a mix of rare incense, old leather, and sothing else he couldn’t identify. The scent was both calming and invigorating.
At the far end of the room, sitting in a high-backed chair behind a massive wooden desk, was the man in the red suit. Up close, the suit was even more impressive—deep crimson fabric that seed to shimr slightly in the light.
The man himself appeared to be in his fifties, with short gray hair and sharp eyes that watched his every move.
"Welco, young warrior," the man said, gesturing to a chair across from him. "Please, have a seat. I’ve been most eager to speak with you."
He cautiously sat down in the chair, studying the man’s face. The luxury of the room made him feel out of place, but he tried not to show it.
"I watched your match with great interest," he said, leaning forward. "You have remarkable skills for soone so young. My na is Lord Varen, and I lead the Crimson Blade Guild."
"Thanks." He said coldly, not impressed.
"I’ll be direct," he continued, his voice firm but friendly. "I want to recruit you into my guild. Your skills would be a valuable addition to our ranks."
He raised an eyebrow, genuinely surprised. He had heard about guilds since arriving in this world, but knew little about them.
"I appreciate the offer, but I don’t know much about guilds or what joining one would an. Could you tell more about them first?"
Lord Varen smiled, seemingly pleased by the question. "Of course. Guilds are organized groups of hunters and warriors who work together on missions. We provide protection, training, resources, and most importantly, connections."
He stood up and walked to a wall map showing the continent.
"A good guild offers steady work, fair pay, and backup when you need it. mbers share information and skills. The Crimson Blade is one of the most respected guilds in the region."
"And what would you expect from if I joined?"
"You would take missions suited to your abilities, represent our guild in tournants like this one, and share a small percentage of your earnings with the guild. In exchange, you get training, equipnt, lodging if needed, and the protection of our na."
He smiled, ’typical. He basically wants to control while using things like training and connections as excuses. How annoying. Though,’ he looked at the man, ’he is crazy strong, must be a B or higher. I must be careful not to make him an enemy yet, might ruin my plans.’
"That doesn’t sound too bad but I will have to think it over a bit more." He got up, "I will excuse myself now, I have to prepare myself for my next match."
Before he could reach the door, the man spoke. "Oh, you didn’t hear yet? The tournant is over."
"What?" He locked, completely shocked.
