Chapter 41: War: Trauma

"who are you?... ’is he the one that threw the rod...’ Mage Jorek wandered.

"call

Chabot."

"your na does not matter to ?"

Chabot pointed his right hand forward "are you ready?"

Jorek staggered after confirming what he had earlier suspected, he frowned afterwards. "dark magic?..."

"not just any dark magic... This was specially to deal with high mages like you." A magic circle appeared in front of Chabot and disappeared. He brought out a black tal orb and expanded into a rod, he grabbed the rod and dashed at Jorek at an horrifying speed, he closed in the distance and began to attack Jorek with the rod from different angles, every ti the rod hit his shield it broke in that instance and he had to imdiately put up another shield before Chabot attacked again and at the sa ti trying to put space in between them in which was not working as Chabot was quick to react and closed the space quickly with an attack that broke his shields. It continued in that sequence, even though Jorek had not gotten hit, he was getting tired, his stamina couldn’t keep when Chabot’s attack got stronger and stronger not to ntion he was also keeping the dragon at bay.

Kain stared at the battle and racked his brain over and over again on what he would do if he was in Jorek’s shoes but he couldn’t find an answer, with attacks like that even his power over water would be aningless.

He tightened his grip as he drowned in soone else’s battle, only to be interrupted by Sarah, a mber of the board. "co on Kain we must leave at once!"

Kain was agitated but he also understood that they had no choice but to run at the sa ti he showed concern for Jorek... "what about him?" Kain looked towards the battle.

"he can take care of himself and it doesn’t matter anyway we have secured the most important person. We have to leave now!"

She dragged Kain’s hand and ran with him. The ice shelter Kain gad used in protecting the surviving soldiers slowly lted and crumbled upon them, as Kain and Sarah faded into a corner the ice shelter completely collapsed leaving only bodies, the dragon watched as Kain and Sarah left, it once again spread it wings and began to wail. This ti it began to endure the lightenings. Ice elent was weak towards electro such is why it took the wyvern so much to break through it was literally fighting again one of its weaknesses. It got stunned heavily but didn’t drop its wings instead it began to move its legs.

Chabot watched the wyvern, "poor little thing... even he is fighting hard."

At once the mage disappeared into thin air and appeared further away from Chabot. "hoho.. getting distracted while facing a great mage like , hiw reckless..."

"pfft" Chabot scoffed, "like it’s going to make any difference"

The mage raised his staff in the air the dark purple orb ca out again and began to float on its own. The mage smirked and pointed forward.

From where he was standing dark spikes began to erge from the ground but before it could continue the a sharp blue lightening appeared on it and it began to disintegrate into black dust.

Jorek mouth fell, he didn’t have to calculate or ask, he knew what it was... It was the reason he hated dark magic so much.

".... antimagic analysis"

Alchemy was a art of researching magic, it exploited and revealed every part of magic in order to fully develop it potentials, that was the purpose of alchemy but at so point it stopped being like that, when the flaws of magic was discovered them alchemist began to research more flaws therefore in the process making a counterpart of magic by harnessing the counterpart of mana itslef. An art that destroys magic instead of promoting it.

Chabot laughed, "I’m your doom high mage Jorek"

Just then Nilus appeared in front of the mage where he stood afar, grabbed him on the face and smashed him to the ground all before mage Jorek could even blink. He brought out a small napkin and wiped the mage’s sweat of his hand and marched towards his wyvern who was now silent, he slashed one of the balls and the other balls began to break apart and finally disappeared. The wyvern spread its wings and flapped it but didn’t fly.

"hey, I’m sure I told you not to interrupt ..."

"Korge’s life was in danger I’m not the type to butt in soone’s business but he hurt my Korge."

"like hell I care, it’s not even been a week you are addressing it as my korge, that is why your ass will be forever single, you hold dear stupid things"

"say it again" Nilus gripped his hands firm on Eschaton.

"or what?" a magic circle appeared on Chabot’s palm.

~shrrriinnggg~

They both belatedly heard the sound and watched the mage disappeared, Chabot tried to analyze and break down the teleportation with anti magic but he was too late, he cried out in agony." nooooooooo!!!"

Nilus climbed his wyvern, "well then..... loser"

He flew away.

Many of the rcenaries were able to escape the city successfully but suffered casualties most especially from the sword, Keiji-sama folded his arms and looked at the Duke who seed to not be able to get out of what just happened, they had found a small forest nearby and decided to wait till he regroups with others.

"i hope you know why I’m saving your life" Keiji-sama said.

Duke Bryand inhaled and exhaled, "regardless of whether it is a win or loss, you’re going to get paid just as the agreent stated"

"of course... I appreciate that" Keiji-sama smiled.

Duke Bryand’s face was gloomy he wondered and wondered over again. ’how on earth did Forgan empire get such a powerful mythical beast?, if they have two of those things how are we going to secure our victory? Just how did they manage to get it when the Western continent and central artic are not on like terms? how?’
