[Chapter 360: Baywatch]
Ocean Park Avenue, Twitter.
Hawke had just stepped out of his car and into the company when the receptionist approached him and said, "Mr. Osnt, a Mr. Ken hlman is waiting for you in the eting room."
"Got it," he replied and went directly to the eting room.
This man was the campaign manager for George Walker.
...
As soon as Hawke entered, hlman stepped forward and shook his hand. "Mr. Osnt, good to see you again."
"Hello," Hawke responded warmly.
hlman handed over an invitation. "George asked to thank you; your support was crucial for his victory. Please attend the appreciation party in Washington next weekend."
Hawke took it and said, "I'll be there to show my support."
Having successfully cooperated in the past, hlman didn't hold back. "I hope Twitter can continue supporting George's efforts."
"Absolutely," Hawke agreed, adding, "Social dia is an erging field that is still finding its way. It needs support from the authorities, both in policy and economically."
They were both sharp individuals. hlman understood perfectly. "After Congress officially announces the election results, Washington will unveil a series of new economic initiatives, with social dia being a key focus."
In this election, George Walker secured 322 electoral votes, with California's 55 votes playing a pivotal role.
hlman quickly excused himself; he had to head to Woodland Hills, ho of the Ferguson family.
Hawke called Brian, returned to his office, and opened the invitation to skim through it.
Clearly, this was a celebration party for George Walker's victory.
...
As noon approached, Frank called to invite Hawke and Edward to lunch at the RV in the parking lot.
Hawke called out to Edward and they left the company to head to the lot across the street.
In November, the temperature in Los Angeles had started to drop. Even with plenty of sunshine at noon, it barely hit the low 70s, and visitors at Venice Beach were not overwhelming, leaving the parking lot largely empty.
In front of the RV, a few plastic tables set up while four won in tight red outfits sat nearby.
These won were a mix of ethnicities, mostly in their twenties, and while their looks varied, they all had stunning figures.
Frank had already set up a grill and was cooking skewers with two slightly older won in red.
Edward said, "That old bastard really knows how to enjoy life; he brought so many won."
As they approached, he added, "Look at those two, the blonde and the brunette; they're beautiful."
Hawke noticed them too. Both won had great bodies, especially the brunette.
...
When Frank saw Hawke, he said, "Make yourselves comfortable."
All four won turned to look at them curiously.
Frank said, "I told you, the chairman of Twitter is my friend. You didn't believe ; you thought I was just a holess drifter?"
The four won in red imdiately approached to greet them.
"Lisa, Holly, Elizabeth, Natalia."
Hawke shook their hands and sat at an empty table nearby.
One of the won reached into her makeup bag, pulled out an eyebrow pencil, and wrote a number on a napkin before putting it on the table in front of Hawke. "This is my contact number. I'm a swimming instructor; if you want to learn to swim, give a call."
The other three followed suit, writing down their contact details and giving them to Hawke.
"I'll reach out if I need anything," he said politely, but his attention shifted to Frank, unsure of what his goal was by having all these won around.
Frank was delightfully imrsed in the company of the won. He turned to the blonde. "Aurora, can you bring over the cooked skewers? Thank you."
The blonde flashed a sweet smile at Frank and picked up a tray, heading towards Hawke and Edward.
Hawke gestured to the other table. "Ladies first."
Aurora set the tray down on the table of the four won.
The woman nad Natalia seed to swoon, saying, "Thanks. You're the most gentlemanly man I've ever t."
Edward muttered under his breath, "It's because he's a billionaire and the owner of Twitter."
Possibly trying to keep it ta in front of Hawke, the four won ate delicately, drinking little beer.
Edward leaned in close and whispered to Hawke, "Is Frank not afraid of getting his head blown off by introducing won to you?"
Hawke couldn't decipher Frank's intentions and chose to observe quietly.
...
After a while, Frank added, "Let's move the dishes over there; you guys can keep Hawke and Savior company, I'm good here."
Aurora and the brunette each brought over a tray.
They sat at Hawke's table and introduced themselves.
Hawke noticed the six won were distinct in their looks, yet all shared remarkable physiques and appearances.
Were they lifeguards, or just six gorgeous dolls?
Not to ntion if they could save soone; anyone in danger might just faint at the sight of them.
Hawke inquired, "You work at the beach lifeguard station, right? You're not on desk duty?"
ihua, an East Asian brunette, laughed, revealing two dimples. "We're on patrol duty, mostly monitoring the beach. Our superiors strictly forbid us from going into the water to rescue people; if soone drowns, we need to call the rescue team imdiately."
Aurora added, "A few months ago, there were several incidents at Venice Beach, which led to a decrease in visitors. The beach managent hired us to walk back and forth on the sands to attract tourists."
Frank approached with a tray, saying, "When it's a little hotter, they wear bikinis. On cooler days, they wear tight clothing -- really eye-catching."
Hawke opened a beer and set it down in front of Frank. "I heard you joined the Venice Beach lifeguard team now."
Frank lifted the beer and clinked it with the four won's glasses. "Gotta find sothing to do."
Edward teased, asking Aurora, "Are you hiring part-ti workers?"
Frank replied, "They're all single and unmarried."
Edward reminded him, "But they aren't Hollywood stars."
"Go pick cotton!" Frank retorted.
Edward shot back, "Go to your ex-wife!"
Aurora and ihua exchanged puzzled looks, unable to understand the banter between the two.
The latter asked Hawke softly, "What are they talking about?"
Hawke said, "Don't worry about them. Let them have at it; we're here for the show."
...
Frank and Edward started their playful mocking again, leaving others out of the conversation.
ihua leaned in and quietly said, "I also use Twitter. I saw a notice on the site that you're hiring. The pay is quite generous."
After Twitter's recent funding rounds, they had been expanding. Hawke replied casually, "That's true; in terms of pay, it's top-tier in the industry."
"Can I give it a shot?" ihua tossed her hair over her shoulder, revealing her pretty face. "I'm currently at UCLA's Samueli School of Engineering for my graduate studies."
Hawke asked, "Is this a part-ti job?"
ihua nodded, saying, "Yes. I was supposed to start at a company in September, but they suddenly rescinded my offer."
She seed confused. "I'm not the only one; many of my friends from China have faced similar challenges recently."
"You might as well send your resu to Twitter," Hawke suggested. "But your qualifications will determine if you can get through."
ihua nodded and then asked, "Hawke, you're the chairman of a large company. Do you know why many businesses in Los Angeles aren't hiring Chinese lately?"
"I'm not quite sure," Hawke said, well aware of the underlying reasons.
...
It was mainly due to the aftermath of the recent fires in Los Angeles; dia reports indicated that everyone knew that firefighter gear sourced from China was heavily defective. For example, the fla retardants for planes and vehicles, rather than extinguishing fires, exacerbated them.
Additionally, many businesses, including Twitter and Fox Broadcasting, had shared footage of the incidents where their firefighting was outsourced and predominantly comprised Chinese workers employing various inadequate thods, enabling the fires to spread in Santa Monica and Westwood districts.
The impact of that fire was considerable -- causing a drop in support rates for the Democrats in California and revealing many businesses' distrust in Chinese workers.
...
Hawke thought for a mont and said, "Maybe Los Angeles just doesn't prioritize tech talent enough. You and your compatriots might want to try Silicon Valley."
ihua pondered. Perhaps that could be a solution.
Frank and Edward had stopped their squabble, listening to Hawke's words but feeling sothing was not quite right.
However, when they thought about it, they couldn't pinpoint the issue.
Everyone finished lunch, and the group of won in red had to go check out the Venice Beach area, quickly bidding farewell.
So of them even shot Hawke flirtatious glances as they left.
...
Hawke pretended not to notice and asked Frank, "You planning to develop a relationship with them?"
Frank had been watching the won, captivated by how their red tights clung to their figures. Half-jokingly, he said, "I just want to have a sweet romance with Aurora."
He feigned indifference, "That ihua would be a great catch for you."
"Too much of a stark contrast," Hawke admitted bluntly.
Frank felt the sa way and asked, "I heard Aurora say ihua had excellent grades; are you encouraging her to take her friends to Silicon Valley?"
