Hidden behind the trees, I held my breath and kept every muscle perfectly still.

My eyes locked onto the clearing ahead, where the rcenaries stood frozen, unable to witness what was truly happening in the bushes before them.

But I could see.

The dry grass moved incessantly, pushed by the frantic bodies of the small aberrations.

Though blind to the scene, the rcenaries could hear the nauseating sounds of flesh being torn, bones cracking, and hungry throats swallowing.

It was enough to drain the color from their faces and shatter their morale.

Suddenly...

"Shooozz~~"

A buzzing sound sliced through the air...

A black sphere, the size of a human head, erged from the center of the rcenaries, leaving behind a trail of thick, dark smoke.

My eyes followed it as the sphere flew and landed right in the middle of the infested bushes.

The impact was followed by an explosion, and dark energy spread like a relentless tide.

"BOOM~~"

The ground trembled beneath .

Dark flas consud everything within a ten-ter radius, exterminating more than twenty Demon Babies in the blink of an eye.

Those closest to the epicenter were reduced to ashes instantly, while the rest writhed on the ground, releasing piercing screams that tore through the sky.

—A fire spell?!" I muttered in disbelief.

My eyes moved quickly, scanning the pale faces of the rcenaries until I found them.

A group dressed in black robes stood in the middle of the formation.

Acolytes.

What the hell were the Shadow Acolytes doing here?

My mind raced, considering the possibilities.

Could the Sun Mountain Tower be under attack?

No, impossible.

If a true mage had co, these rcenaries would have already been reduced to dust.

So why were these acolytes here?

What was their true objective?

Their black cloaks and hoods covered their bodies entirely, not leaving even an inch of skin exposed.

Judging by their build, I guessed they were two n and one girl.

Three apprentice acolytes who had left their hos to gain experience?

Since I couldn’t see them directly, there was no way for my biochip to obtain their specific attributes.

Therefore, I didn’t dare act recklessly.

Silently, I took out my Magic Talisman and reported what was happening here to the Sun Mountain Tower.

During that ti, the Demon Babies, having suffered heavy losses, summoned all the Wandering Souls to aid them.

Since these Wandering Souls could exist among other demons, they were certainly not low-tier creatures like zombies or skeletons.

Instead, they were conscious entities ford from intense resentnt and malicious intent.

Although they possessed human-like shapes, they lacked physical bodies, and their innate ability to freely switch between ethereal and physical states allowed them to ignore most physical attacks and defenses.

Their bodies resembled blurred shadows.

In comparison, their heads were much clearer, bearing facial features similar to those of a human being.

They had a pair of arms with sharp claws, but where their legs should have been, there was only a vague shadow.

From a distance, it seed as though their lower halves had rged into the air.

As this group of Wandering Souls erged from the forest, the entire area was instantly filled with chilling ghostly wails, enough to make one’s soul tremble.

—The living must pay...

—We still rember the nas you forgot~~

—Flesh rots, but guilt does not...

—Listen... listen to what you buried...

The temperature also dropped significantly.

When attacked by this seemingly endless horde of terrifying Wandering Souls, the rcenaries’ defensive formation collapsed instantly.

Having transford their bodies into ethereal forms, the Wandering Souls leapt fearlessly into the group of n, completely ignoring the rcenaries’ weapons and shields.

With their eerie, phantom-like claws, these spirits busied themselves carving deadly scratch marks into their targets’ bodies.

So even squeezed into the rcenaries’ bodies, taking control and forcing them to attack their own comrades.

Now that a breach had been created by the Wandering Souls, the vile Demon Babies once again joined the battle, using their horrifying curses to shatter the rcenaries’ wills.

After that, they dragged the cursed bodies into the bushes and began feasting on them.

The scene grew even more chaotic and horrific.

When they looked outward and saw the massive swarm of demons and Wandering Souls overwhelming the rcenaries around them, the three Apprentice Acolytes were finally forced to remove their cloaks and join the battle, revealing their faces to the world.

The leader of the three was a muscular young man.

His ssy black hair fell over his shoulders.

Just beneath his hairline, a mysterious horn protruded from his forehead.

It was clearly no ordinary horn.

He wore strange, finely crafted armor and carried an enormous sword on his back.

Judging by its size, it was far too heavy for a re ordinary warrior to wield.

The other man was dressed like a noble.

His clothes were also black, but delicate and luxurious, fitting his body strikingly well.

However, what was even more impressive was his head.

He had skin as dark as pitch, a long, narrow mouth, and a thin tongue that flicked in and out...

He unexpectedly had the head of a snake.

anwhile, between these two n stood a skeleton the size of a Lolita.

Instead of eyes, two blue flas flickered within her sockets.

She was small and held a wand with a glowing tip.

Curiously, she not only showed no fear toward the horrific scene before her, but was also looking around with a smile on her face, making her seem nothing more than a curious skeletal Lolita.

My eyes widened suddenly.

Through the enhanced vision of my biochip, I saw dazzling elental particles and spiritual ripples surging like tidal waves, emanating from all three acolytes.

According to the Chip’s assessnt, the three were Level 3 Acolytes, with the exception of the girl, who was a Level 2 Acolyte at the peak of Level 2.

They were elites among acolytes.

No matter who they were, they were not soone I, a re Level 2 Beginner Apprentice, could even think of dealing with.

Well... at least not all at once.

If I were fighting them separately, there might be a greater chance for evasive maneuvers.

Why had such powerful individuals co here?

This place was private property of the Sun Mountain Tower and a resource site belonging to the wizard family that controlled the tower.

Aside from the tower’s own acolytes, who occasionally ca to collect ingredients, this place was not open to outsiders.

All of this genuinely made curious about the motives of these outsiders.

Human rcenaries, with their vital energy, were capable of dealing with demonic beasts, but once confronted with Demon Babies, Wandering Souls, and similar creatures, they were nothing more than sheep led to slaughter.

As soon as their simple defensive shield was broken, the swarm of demons began massacring them.

Demon Babies ran and leapt everywhere, screaming terrifying curses to weaken their prey’s combat abilities.

Using the bushes as cover, these monsters launched sneak attacks, knocking down the rcenaries.

Thus, the battlefield beca a scene filled with rcenaries on the brink of death.

Moreover, those dreadful Wandering Souls circled in the air, seeking opportunities to snatch a rcenary into the sky.

When that happened, the other demons would swarm in and tear apart the helpless prey.

Right in the middle of this chaotic scene, a Wandering Soul with a twisted and hideous face dove down from the air, targeting the three bizarre-looking Apprentice Acolytes.

Before the young man and the girl could react, the snake-headed one made his move.

"Xlashhh~~"

With overwhelming force, a light-green, arrow-shaped venom shot from his mouth, instantly piercing through the Wandering Soul’s body and exploding upon impact.

The intense corrosive poison lted the ’Core of Resentnt’ hidden within it, reducing the spirit to a pile of ashes with a horrible, agonized scream.

I noticed that the venomous ’arrow’ was not created by common spells—it was launched directly from that Apprentice’s mouth.

And that attack was only the beginning.

The Apprentice did not stop there.

He opened his mouth wide and continued spitting venomous ’arrows’ like a machine gun.

"Xlashhh~~"

"Xlashhh~~"

"Xlashhh~~"

"Xlashhh~~"

"Xlashhh~~"

With each attack, he precisely eliminated one of the horrific Wandering Souls, which were considered to possess power at the peak of Level 1 Acolytes.

The Lolita-sized skeleton holding the magic wand now joined the fight.

A Demon Baby, sprinting rapidly across the ground, turned its attention to the three individuals, marking them as targets and rushing toward them.

At the sa ti, it released irritating screams from its twisted mouth filled with sharp, yellowed teeth, casting its Curses upon them.

Undoubtedly, its actions provoked the girl.

However, instead of showing any sign of anger, her white, bony face blossod with a sweet smile.

She raised the wand in her right hand—which looked more like a toy—pointed it at the Demon Baby, and waved it a few tis.

Although no sound was heard, lights and shadows flickered, and the Demon Baby that had been charging toward her suddenly exploded into a spray of blood.

"Slpahhss~~"
