Selene’s POV~

I was stunned by myself. I never wanted to do it, but sohow his tears had shaken . Without knowing, my hand had gone up to wipe them away. The mont I realized, I quickly pulled my hand back. My face burned with embarrassnt.

I raised my eyes and forced my voice to be steady.

"Alpha, you are drunk. You should go and rest."

For a second, I thought he would say sothing more. But he didn’t. He only sighed heavily and threw his arm back against the chair.

"Yeah. I am drunk. I really need rest. Can you drop to my room?"

His words stunned . My heart stopped for a beat. I didn’t want to go anywhere with him. I didn’t want to face him any longer. I was already afraid of how much I was losing control of myself.

But before I could even refuse, he stood up. His steps were unsteady, his body leaning side to side. Then he stumbled straight into . His strong arm fell heavy on my shoulder, his head dropping as if he had no strength left.

"Take to my room," he muttered with his rough voice.

I clenched my teeth, catching his weight before he fell to the floor. My hands gripped his arm, steadying him though my whole body wanted to shove him away.

If you cannot tolerate it, why drink so much? I grumbled in my head.

His weight was unbearable. I could sll the alcohol on his breath. It made wonder just how much he had drunk. It was supposed to be his welcoming feast, yet here he was...like a broken man drowning himself.

I sighed and began to drag him. No one stopped us. No one even looked at us. All of them were too busy with their drinks and gas. For a mont, I wished soone would stop , take him away, so I could escape. But no one ca. Not even one person. fucking assholes.

So I dragged his heavy body step by step. The path toward the alpha quarter felt endless. Each step made more tired and more angry. He leaned all his weight on as if he had no care in the world.

I wanted to throw him down right there on the ground and run away. But I couldn’t. If anyone saw, the result would not be good for .

At last, I reached the alpha quarter. I didn’t even care which room was his. I just opened the first door I could and dragged him inside. His body dropped on the bed with a dull sound.

I straightened, breathing hard, ready to turn and leave. But before I could step away, his hand shot up. His fingers closed tight around my wrist.

I froze.

His grip was strong even in his drunken state. His eyes were half-lidded, heavy, but his voice ca out low and clear.

"Don’t go. Stay here with ."

His fingers held my wrist tightly. I tried to pull away, but he didn’t let go. His grip was warm, heavy, almost stubborn.

"Alpha," I muttered, trying not to sound too sharp. "Let go. You need to sleep."

But he only closed his eyes halfway, like a child pretending to be asleep. His lips curved faintly as if he found sothing funny. He mumbled sothing I couldn’t even catch, then shifted closer on the bed, dragging a little with him.

I sighed in frustration. This man. He was acting drunk, but I could tell he wasn’t fully gone. He knew I wanted to leave, and that was exactly why he held on.

"Alpha, please..." I whispered, but he didn’t answer. He only moved again, this ti laying his head on the edge of my arm like it was a pillow.

My body stiffened. I didn’t dare move. His hair brushed against my hand, his breath warm on my skin.

I wanted to push him off, I wanted to run away. But seeing him like this—his face relaxed, his eyes closed, all the sharpness gone, sothing inside faltered. He looked nothing like the man everyone feared. He looked... almost harmless.

I turned my head away, biting my lip. My heart was racing for no reason.

Minutes passed like that. His grip slowly loosened, though he didn’t let go completely. My frustration lted into quiet resignation.

He was drunk, I reminded myself. Nothing more.

So I stayed there, sitting stiffly by his side, while he leaned against as if he had finally found a little peace.

For a while there was silence. His hand was still gripping mine, and I thought maybe he had fallen asleep. But then I heard it.

At first it was only a faint sound. A soft breath that broke unevenly. Then his chest shook, and I realized he was crying.

"Don’t go," he whispered in his sleep. "Please, don’t abandon . It is my fault... I never left you... I love you."

My eyes widened. My heart stopped.

He hiccupped, his lips trembling, his face turning wet with tears. The words ca out broken, but I could still hear them.

"Please don’t go, Selenr...Believe , there was never a day I stopped loving you.

...I just wanted your attention. Forgive ...

..forgive for what I have done.

I was blinded by the past. Please..."

His voice cracked and faded into sobs. His tears slid freely down his cheeks, soaking my hand beneath him.

I stared at him, unable to move. Each word struck deep. I leaned closer without even knowing, straining to hear every sound. My chest grew tighter and tighter.

I had seen him cruel. I had seen him angry. I had seen him rciless. But I had never seen him like this...crying in his sleep, clinging to as if he would die if I left.

My heart clenched painfully.

I closed my eyes and breathed out slowly. "Lucian... you love . But do you really think I deserve it after what I have done?" The words ca out in a whisper that only I could hear.

And I let out the truth that I have always tried to hide, even from myself. That it was the reality of .
