(From Blue's Perspective)
'Not everyone's life is bound to be filled with love and healthy relationships. Soone's destiny is entangled with toxic people and toxic relationships. Sohow, I tend to take it as a normal thing, and probably… normal and healthy things can't satisfy .'
When the door broke, I knew I had done sothing that could not be undone. The only thing to do was proceed. There was no way to back up, no way to turn back ti, only to go forward.
"Your Highness!"
Seeing Reece alive made sigh in relief. It was like I could not see his bloody nose, left ear, and torture marks on his body. He was almost naked.
Abel's condition was worse, so Reece's condition could not be seen much. If I did not stop the bleeding, he would die soon. But there was a problem.
Although black mages were extrely powerful, they had weaknesses too. Everyone had weaknesses; we were no different. Mages could not stop bleeding or heal, but they at least could slow the flow of blood temporarily. But dark mages did not have that ability. They could attack only, but they did not have the ability to do a positive thing; saving soone or healing.
"He… Reece, listen… t-to … well. I can't… h-heal… him. And… I can't bring a d-doctor… to save… him either. But I will… do whatever I can. And you… need to listen t-to… what I… am going t-to… say, no… ob… objections."
"Your Highness… You are hurt," Reece said. "I am sorry… Because of …"
"What… do you… an because o-of… you? It's… not because… of you…," I said in a whisper. "You… see, I am just… the m-magnet that… att… attracts… nothing but toxic… people. He was ant… to f-find , use… . He… controlled… my life.
My b-birth was no… co… coincidence, it was… not planned… by t-two people… in l-love; I am… rely an… e-experint, a… successful one, which is why, I… am way too im… important to him. Y-Yes, he controlled… a very large… part of my… life, he found ; but…"
I stopped, the noise from nearby echoing into my ears. Ti was not on my side, but I had never been readier.
"… he won't… decide my… future."
I held Reece's hand who was trying to wake Abel up desperately. "Tell Dem I love him. I love him more than anything else. And I did not leave him. I will co back. Tell him I will co back." Enjoy exclusive adventures from empire
"Your High…"
His words were cut short as both of them vanished into thin air and I fell to the ground in an instant. I smiled tiredly, knowing I had done what I could.
It did not matter how powerfully protected a place was, even if it was impossible for a mage to teleport from there or to there, it was possible to teleport soone else. But almost no mages ever tried that. Why? Because it was almost deadly. It took a lot of mana, leaving the mage to almost die. But I was ready for it.
My dear father would not let the experint fail; the subject must never die.
"Oh, my dear daughter, you love to surprise your father," Azure said, his voice calm, but I could detect the hint of surprise beneath his composed façade. "But, it should be stopped now. Lloid, take her back to her room. We won't delay the mission. That will be enough punishnt."
"I… will die… anyway…"
"No, no, my daughter. Death is not ant for us," he said, shaking his head. "I won't die, so won't you. We don't die!"
"I… am not… i-immortal!"
"No, you are not," he chuckled. "But you are half mortal."
"Not… yet…," I said.
I had read this in a book Dem gave . The children, not creations, of a god, an immortal being, would not be immortal like their parent or parents. Rather, they would be half mortal. Not that I ever imagined I would be soone like that.
Half mortals did not die by natural causes and they did not age. At one age, they stopped aging. It varied from person to person, based on when they were ntally ready to accept the life of a half-mortal. When the mind reached that state, the half-mortal life would start. Before that, they were mortal, like human beings. For , it was not that state yet.
I was barely sane at this point.
Being a half-mortal needed acceptance from the person. I would not accept that life if my beloved was not the sa. I would rather be a mortal and live my life with my beloved and die one day like everyone did, than live alone for eternity and witness the love of life leaving this world, embracing mother nature.
"I… am mortal!"
"Who told you that? Obviously, you don't know the right thing."
'Ah, right, I don't know the right thing. You will say that for sure. What if I hadn't read that book? I would have believed it, wouldn't I?'
"Was it that useless so-called husband of yours? He surely does fill your mind with nonsense."
"How will he know you are my father? The black lord?"
"Oh my, am I interrupting sothing?" a female voice asked suddenly.
I was not even a bit surprised to hear the familiar voice. Her flaming red hair and the shadow of my husband's face on her made my heart twitch just a bit, but that was just that.
"What are you doing down here, madam?" Azure asked, turning to her.
"I was looking for you, my lord. Your son told you were here," she replied and turned to . "That said, I am eting my daughter-in-law after a very long ti. I did not wish to see you in this state, Queen of Querencia."
"You… are… disgusting…"
"What happened to her voice?"
"She is a bit sick and weak," Azure said. "Maybe, Lloid can take her back to her room."
"What was… the reason? W-Why?" I asked Mother. She should make an excuse. I did not want to hear the truth. I wanted her to make an excuse; maybe I could falsely relieve myself and hold onto one hope that it was not her.
"You were always right, dear. What you are thinking is right. I have nothing more to say," she said, with a gentle and warm smile that did not suit the environnt. "I don't hate you, Blue. I never did. But I was jealous.
I believed the love my son gives to you is supposed to be mine. And I think it is mine, although he won't give it to , he never will."
"But why… did you… f-faked your… own… d-death…?" I asked.
"I wanted Detrius to feel guilty for treating that way. That's why I did it on his birthday, so every year until he dies, he will rember on his birthday."
Why would he not treat her that way? Why would he not avoid soone who treated him like crap and ignored him when he needed her the most? Why was she even asking for his love after treating him that way? Because her husband died? What kind of twisted mother was she? Did she even deserve to be called a mother?
"He… hates you!"
"Enough chit-chat. Take her to her room," Azure said. "And madam, do not co to the dungeon on your own. Things can go downhill at any mont."
Lloid teleported back to my room and literally threw on the bed. I was in so much pain that it was hard just to even breathe.
"Let take this dress off you, princess. You will feel better," he said, with a grin. "Maybe you will be able to breathe better as well."
"Don't… don't t-touch… !"
"Don't get wrong, princess. I am just helping you," he said, placing his knee on the bed. He touched the bottom of my nightgown, pulling it as I braced myself with my arms in an attempt to save myself from him.
"M-Move!"
He held my arms and forcefully separated them. "Listen, dear princess. I am only trying to help you. Listen to well, hm?"
Azure did not care what happened to if only I was just alive. I tried to use my power, but then I realized the bracelet was around my wrist, once again.
"Oh, princess, you are quite distracted today. You didn't even notice when I put it on you," he chuckled. "Anyways, let make you feel comfortable real quick."
The next couple of minutes only consisted of resisting like crazy and him trying to take my clothes off. It was only the loud bang that stopped him.
