Chapter 568: The oath

Badger leads
into the large dining room. All the lights are on, there is a bright chandelier above the middle of the table. Everyone is seated and waiting patiently for us. I take one last look at the door because I don’t know what this is about and I can already tell that it can’t be good.
This is a dinner and everyone looks so eager for
to be here. It seems like this dinner is for

the most. Why are they all looking at
like I am so piece of at? There are two empty seats on the table. One that I know is for Badger and the other one that I assu is for . Where is Gyles’s seat?
I an this party was for the two of us and I know he is busy downstairs but why will she just assu that he wouldn’t co.

I turn to Badger as he walks over to the empty chair and takes a seat slowly. There is a smile on his face, the kind that sickens
to the core. I just want to leave this place and never co back but sohow, it feels like I am trapped in this hell with no way out of it.
I walk over to the empty seat as one of the waiters pours a drink into the empty glass in front of . The table is full of food. This seems like just a normal dinner but I know that there is more to this.
"Welco to the family,’’ a man next to

as I grab the glass. I am not going to drink or eat anything but I need to act like I am. I don’t want to be suspicious. I don’t know what he ans by his words but I am already scared for what is about to happen.
"Do you all know why we are here?’’ Badger speaks up.
I watch and wait because right now, I am drawing a blank. This was a party to welco us to the coven, but now it seems like there is more to it and I also think I am about to find out. It doesn’t seem like this is going to drag out and that is what scares
the most.
Badger’s eyes stay fixated on
as he grabs his glass and raises it "We are glad that you are back, back where you belong and even though we had already agreed on the date of the oath, I decide to surprise you and make it happen sooner.’’
My heart lunges in my chest at his words.

I call out to him as my heart beats faster from the worry that is slowly taking over . I wait for him to respond but it never cos. It seems like she never even wanted us to wait a week. Suddenly it makes sense. She didn’t want Gyles and Rex to be a part of this. I am the only one she really wanted back and now it feels like sothing has happened to Gyles.
"I had a week to think about it. I thought I would be granted that ti.’’
She smiles as I wait for her to respond "Do you even need to think about it. I thought this was sothing you wanted. It seed like you were ready for it. This is what your mother would have wanted.’’
My stomach lurches in disgust as she ntions herself.
"I want this but I need the ti. I need to be ready for this.’’
She laughs. Everyone is watching us, which only makes this worse. I hate that they all have their eyes on us when they don’t even know what is going on. "There is never a right ti for the blood oath. It is just sothing that you need to do and I am giving you the opportunity of a lifeti and I am sure you won’t refuse.’’

My wolf asks . I can sense the fear inside . He feels the exact sa way that I do right now and we are both lost and unsure of what to do. I can’t do this oath because it will just be a ss that I wouldn’t be able to get out of.
The smile on Badger’s face only makes this worse. All I can think about is Gyles and the possibility that sothing has happened to him. No matter what, I should be able to communicate with him but I can’t feel him anymore. The last thing I know is that he went into that room.
"I need ti." I finalize because one thing I know about the oath is that you can’t be forced into it. It is sothing that you should be willing to do and as long as I am not ready for it. I cannot be forced into doing it. That is why I have been able to get out of it for so long.
"You have no choice in this. I am not sure about you loyalty, I haven’t been sure about it since you ca back. Now is the ti to prove it. Show
that you are here for the long term." He places his elbows on the table and rests his hands on his cheeks. Everyone is watching , waiting for
to make a decision and it feels like I have no choice in this matter.
"What is your answer?’’
I take a deep breath as I think about the best answer to this question "Gyles is not here, I should look for him."
"That man is not going to be accepted into this place. You knew that was going to happen when you walked into those gates. Werewolves cannot be part of the coven. Don’t you worry about it, he would be taken care of."
My heart jolts because I should have known better.
