Chapter 379: You make everything better

Alanis

"Glad you ca to your senses,’’ Russ confidently whines in the car. It took

about five minutes to get ready and I already have regrets. I don’t even want to be going out. I just want to stay in bed and wait for him. After our movie, which basically took about two hours, we start the journey back to the house.

"I am so hungry. Can we get sothing to eat before going back ho?’’

Russ glances at

"For food?’’ he asks confused.

I nod.

"You know, in all my years of knowing you. I have never heard you say you are hungry. In fact, I have never seen you eat real food before. What is going on with you?’’

"None of your business,’’ I snap at him. I am being extra an to him today. Maybe it is because I don’t even want to be here, out in the sun. I would rather wait for Beau to co back at ho, in our bed, than be outside with him.

"Why am I still friends with you when all you do is treat

like shit?’’

"Fuck off,’ I cross my hands over my chest and this gets a chortle out of him. he parks the car in front of a restaurant. One that I have never been to "Why are we at a restaurant?’’ I ask him as he parks the car in the parking lot.

He shrugs "You said you were hungry. I am just being a good friend."

I shake my head "Nope, this is not a date. Take

taco bells, this is getting weird," I look at the na of the restaurant and rember the ti that I passed by this restaurant with Maddie. She wanted to co here so badly but we never got around to it.

"Ha, you are sothing else, Alanis. What is the big deal in two guys going out for lunch at a fine restaurant?’’

I sigh out in frustration "I want fast food, not this.’’ I tell him but he ignores

and gets down from the car. I watch him walk to my side of the car and I pull the window down "We are already here; we might as well just eat here."

I know he is trying to stall

for Beau and whatever he has planned but I just want to go ho now. "Fine,’’ I release a huff as I get down from the car. We walk side by side until we get into the restaurant. It is very fancy. The lights are low and the ac is on cool as we walk in. A man in a suit and a bow tie walks up to us with his hands together. there is a smile on his face—one that looks forced.

"Good afternoon, table for two?’’ he asks with a smile on his face. we leave the entrance and I notice that all the tables are empty. There is no one here even though this is supposed to be rush hour.

Russ nods his head as we walk further into the restaurant. He leads

into a room with one of the waiters. I already know that this is beau’s plan as I enter the room and see the roses and candles. I look around the private room for him but he is not here. Russ takes a seat on one of the two chairs on the round table. The whole shit is so romantic but I am with the wrong person right now. The lights are dim, I can already imagine Beau and how handso he would look in this light.

"Where is Beau?’’ I ask him, standing in front of the chair.

He raises a brow "What do you an?’’ he is playing dumb but I can see right through his cheeky smile.

"Where is my boyfriend? I an, this cannot be for

and you." I look around the room and notice the waiter in a corner with a blank expression on his face "Co on out Beau. I know you are here.’’ I shout to no one in the room. Everything that has happened since yesterday, just lets

know that I hate surprises. I hate the unknown and not knowing what is going to happen next. I don’t want to get my hopes up and then have it crushed.

"Beau is not here,’’ he shrugs "just sit down already, you are making

nervous,’’ he waves his hands in the air.

I sigh out of frustration but oblige, as I take a seat. The waiter walks over to us and hands us the nus "You said you were hungry, so order. It is on ." he smiles excitedly.

Nothing has ever been on Russ in all our years as friends. This seems expensive, there is no way this bill would be on him.

No way in hell.

I order food because I am still hungry and Russ does the sa "Why are we here, are you just making jokes right now?’’ I ask him with a raised brow.

He laughs "Why would I do that. this is

doing a nice thing for you. what is the big deal?’’ he asks playfully.

I roll my eyes "This is weird. I don’t want to be here with you. Co on, you can’t tell

this is not weird."

He laughs even louder to the point where he starts to choke. He drinks from the water on the table and starts to wipe his imaginary tears "Just cut it out, Russ. I am out of here,’’ I tell him standing up from the chair and walking in the direction of the door. He stands up but I am faster than him and out of the door in less than a second. He grabs

before I can leave the building.

"Let

go, dude. I have had enough of this shit." I tell him before turning over. his scent feels different but I am too irritated to focus.

"Now co on. This is no way to treat your baby.’’

My heart thuds in my chest because this is the person that I wanted to see. This is the person that made this not weird.

"Beau,’’ I breathe out his na, slowly turning around to his beautiful face. there is a smile on his face and he is still holding unto . he is dressed in a nice suit. Black, and nicely fitted with a black tie. In fact, he is too dressed for this lunch.

"Hi baby,’’ he smiles and my heart lts.
