Chapter 136: Yin to my Yang

Alanis.

I get to the compound imdiately I get the call from Beau and I see Eligio at the gates. Guess he is on guard duty tonight.

’’What went wrong while I was away?’’ I ask imdiately because I can’t deal with anything bad right now.

He shrugs but I know he knows.

’’All this worrying is driving

insane.’’

’’It’s the kid,’’ he confesses.

Okay. We call Jabi the kid. So sothing happened with Jabi. The last ti I heard anything about Jabi had to do with the ritual, I already know that it has sothing to dow with the ritual. Sothing must have gone wrong and now Beau is beating himself up for it. anything that has to do with the ritual sohow affects

in his mind.

’’I should find Beau,’’ I tell El, leaving him at the gates. I know where he is imdiately I get into the compound. Almost like I can feel him; I an that has been our relationship from the beginning of ti. I can always find him—wherever he is.

I get to the infirmary and he is seated on a chair in the reception. He looks up imdiately he sees . A smile spreads to his face at once, like a relief to see . I know this is not easy for him. I know Beau and his first reaction to things aren’t always so pretty. I feel like my position is to keep him under control. I will gladly take that position for the rest of my life. Be the yin to his yang. The moon to his earth. He needs

and I am not shy or afraid to say that out loud. Just like I need him too.

He stands up but doesn’t move. I am in front of the door. I don’t know if this is a great ti to be here because I don’t even know what is going on but when he takes the first step towards , I know that he needs

closer. His eyes are red. It doesn’t look like he has been crying. He just looks terribly stressed. I know he started his training today. is that why he looks so worn out?

He stops in front of , the smile is still plastered on his face. ’’Things went to shit while you were gone,’’ he settles on those words.

Eligio gave

a glimpse but I have the feeling that I don’t even know the half of it ’’You look exhausted. What did you do all day?’’

He shrugs, we are close enough, but no one reaches out for the other. Looking at him right now all I want is to pull him into my arms but I need to talk to him first. Need to make sure he is okay before I give in to my selfish desires.

’’Jules had

transform a million tis. Cannot count how many tis I broke my bones and put them back together.’’

I can’t imagine how terrible that was.

’’Did you get the desired effect?’’

I don’t know what kind of training he had but If It was successful then I guess all the pain was worth it.

’’Yeah, the side of

that scared the hell out of you that ti,’’ he admits.

He knows how seeing him like that made

feel. The fact that I was the one that caused it that day made it even worse. I aggravated him, and in his anger, he was scary.

’’What happened when I was away?’’ I change the topic because we need to focus on the now.

’’Jabi lost control, he attacked soone.’’

I furrow my brows in confusion. I don’t think we are talking about the sa person. Jabi the kid. That frail boy attacked soone? He doesn’t even look like he can hurt a fly.

How is that possible?

’’Yeah, I didn’t think it was possible too. I an, have you seen the kid? Seeing him on top of that girl will forever be etched to my mind.’’

’’How did that happen?’’

Before he can answer my question, a door opens and a man walks out with one of the healers. He frowns when he sees .

’’You had the fucking guts to bring one of them here?’’ he growls so loud it echoes through the halls.

Oh, he is talking about .

I am one of them?

’’He is the mate of the Alpha, so I demand so respect when referring to him,’’ beau scolds him calmly.

It looks like this is not his first confrontation with this man. the man looks very upset with him.

’’He should not be here after my daughter was attacked by his kind.’’ He shouts furiously.

Now I see why he is so angry.

’’I need you to keep your composure, Bas. This will all be sorted out.’’

He stops in front of Beau ’’The only way this can be sorted out if they all leave the community. They are a risk to us. Their bloodthirst cannot be controlled.’’

At this point I am confused. This seems like an attack on vampires. What does Jabi have to do with this?

’’If you recall, Jabi is a werewolf. He is one of us. so this is not about the vampires.’’

The man scoffs ’’That kid is not a werewolf anymore. The day he mated with a vampire. He gave up that title.’’

Now that doesn’t make any sense but I decide to remain quiet. This is not my place. I know Beau can handle this. He doesn’t need

right now. He’s got this.

’’Are you saying I gave up my title too?’’ he raises a brow.

’’I don’t care about you. I want that kid banished. He needs to leave the community before he hurts more of our kids.’’

Okay, this guy is being very vile right now.

’’I cannot do that. I will handle this the way I think is fair. You will not tell

what to do.’’

Beau’s tone is firm.

Damn, I like the way he sounds right now.

’’I want to see your daughter, make sure she is okay. Do I have your permission?’’ he asks calmly almost like he is putting an end to the discussion.

The man—Bas, nods his head and walks back to the nurse. Beau faces

again, this ti there is no smile on his face.

’’Will you wait for

in my room? I just need to make sure the girl is okay, and I will be with you.’’

I nod because there is nothing more here for

to do. once I get so alone ti with him, I will talk to him about the Elis.

’’You sure you’ll be okay?’’

He winks ’’Nothing can bring

down,’’ he pats my shoulder softly and his grip lingers a little longer than he needed but it is not like I am complaining.

I get to his house and Rex and Bell’s are in the kitchen. They seem to be deep in conversation, and from their silence, it seems like they don’t want

to be part of their conversation.

’’Hey, you’re back,’’ Bells announces, looking guilty as fuck.

I raise a brow in question. They look suspicious but these are the only people I actually trust in this pack. They are the only ones that I know are not up to anything. They are Beau’s family.

’’Yeah, why are you here?’’ I ask her because these couple of days If she is not on guard duty, she remains stuck to her mate.

’’I wanted to talk to Rex,’’ she admits.

So they were talking about sothing. Why don’t they want to tell

what it is.

Don’t say anything.

I read Bell’s mind. okay, now I know she is hiding sothing from . what could she possibly be keeping from ? I an, what could they even be talking about that has to do with .

’’Say anything about what?’’ I raise a brow.

Bell’s sighs loudly, that guilty expression still plastered on their faces. Whatever they are keeping has to do with . they need to let

know before.

’’You can’t be reading our minds, Alanis. That is not cool.’’

I shrug, they left

no choice.

’’Tell

what you are hiding,’’ I demand with a firm tone. This feels like it involves

and I will like to know.

’’Promise you will not freak out,’’ Rex speaks up for the first ti. He is the one that is most likely going to spill the beans.

’’Tell

what it is, I don’t have ti for this shit,’’ I am getting angsty but can they bla .

’’It is about Maddie.’’

Maddie has been out of my mind for a while now. I don’t have the ti to think about her and her betrayal. There is a certain ti of anger I feel for her.

I nod, telling them to carry on.

Bell’s looks away from

and I focus on Rex as he tells

what I was eventually going to find out.

’’She’s dead.’’

I don’t know how I feel about it. I knew that her involvent with Cassius would eventually get her killed but there is a part of

that feels bad.

Maybe if she wasn’t involved with , all this wouldn’t have happened to her.

Almost like it is my fault but I know that it isn’t. she chose the life she was dealt with. The pain I feel is mostly for her parents.

They didn’t deserve this.
